So happy I found a new "hobby" to enjoy in my golden years. Your channel is my #1 go to as a "newbie" knife enthusiast. As you can tell from my Priority Mail shipments, we've "all in" on this new adventure. 🍀 to have never "worked" a day , doing what I wanted over 4 decades and now enjoying a full and blessed retirement. Thanks for doing what you do👍
would you know if that number #77 can still be bought because i can't find one anywhere?? :( and one more question please your slipjoint don't have anything on the blade all the ones im seeing have the name on the blade could you please guide me in the right place to buy please rob, im just getting into slipjoints and i love your collection..thank you for all of your videos sir!!
It is nice to do work that you enjoy Rob and others enjoy your enthusiasm for mans oldest tool. In small knives I seem to be carrying a CS Lucky you sold me a lot, for work its usually a GEC Bullnose, anything bigger stays in the truck till I need it. Too much choice, it is nice to have that luxury these days. Special mention to the BM940, she was my first great EDC. Aw ra best for New Year to ALL.
Hello there, I have been watching your reviews and only now have found out you take knives in to sharpen. would love to get a couple to you for the service, especially my code 4 tanto, needs some serious tweaking, and another teflon bushing. I realize this comment comes in late, but wondering if you are still doing this? thanks for the time, and for your reviews--your passion for knives really shows in your content! Cheers :)
Very nice edc choice. Really enjoy the channel and love the scriptures you put at the beginning. Tom A Chitwood made me a small fix blade I edc now. Hope you your family and all your sub's have a blessed upcoming new years and all keep safe.
Awesome choices! Thanks for the tip on Spketch! I plan to explore what I can do with some of my PM2's. I love watching your content and perspective. Also, I think I may take advantage of your free shipping. I'll email you about it in January. Happy New Year!
Very nice Rob !! Peace to you in the new year. I think its a great list ya got there. I too carried my sebenza wilson combat alot this year. Same reasons. Be well Rob!!
Nice collection , so you said that you like the 2nd gen Gayle Bradley over the 1st gen? If so why , I thought you said maybe because of ease of opening and possibly the ergos ? Thank you for all of the great blade videos I enjoy them all 👍🏻
That's a complicated conclusion, Brandon. In my heart of hearts, I prefer the original, but the "2" is superior in ease of closing and all around ergos. But the "1" is a better wood carving knife, which was its intended application.
I'm with you on the M4 steel . recently bought a knife works exclusive Para 2, in M4 and carbon fiber . gets sharper and stays sharper than and other steel I've experienced.
Hey Rob was curious have you ever tried the kme system. I got one a year ago and love it never had epa but love kme. Appreciate the vids and the info you put out on this channel one of a kind keep it up brother...
I thought I could rest easy with my Bradley 1 but now that I've seen that I just need to get the new one and make some scales. The 007 feel just got along more English. Happy New Year Rob.
OK 4 questions, what knife/blade steel would you recommend for deer hunting/skinning. knife/blade steel for food prep, and one for work use cutting a bunch of different stuff. Also one for outdoor survival/bushcraft?
You should try the Victorinox Explorer plus. Damn near does everything and the best part is it has an inline 3D Phillips head (not the normal T shape Phillips) Check it out, you will thank me later.
Good morning sir, I hope everything is going well with you, I watch and enjoy your videos very much but there is one thing that I don't understand, I'm not being disrespectful but I don't understand how you can make it a full time business sharpening knives, and the reason behind that is I believe that everyone should know how to sharpen a knife themselves. My father taught me to sharpen my knives and his father taught him. I keep every knife in my collection hair shaving sharp and I have learned the difference in the grinds and use different techniques for each one. Every person who carries and uses a knife should know how to keep them sharp and ready to go to work when needed
Well, John, I didn’t believe it either, but most collectors don’t know how to sharpen - at least not as well as they’d like to given the quality of the knives they own. For many guys, it’s better to spend a little money having it done right than to mess up an expensive knife due to inexperience or lack of skill.
@@TheApostleP yes sir, you make a good point. I guess that I've just been sharpening my knives for many years and keep them hair shaving sharp and I didn't think much about collectors, just that anyone going out in the field should know how to keep his tools in top shape. A tool is only a good as it's user
Well, Rob, i really, really enjoy your videos (your my favorite youtuber) and you have convinced me to get an edc Bark River. I have two questions for you. 1) I'm trying to decide between a BRK Bravo EDC with black linen micarta with red liners, or a Featherlight Fox river in green linen micarta. Which would you recommend. I will buy both eventually i just dont know which should be my first. I like the look of the Fox more, but i like the fact that i could afford to get liners on the Bravo. 2) I have an edge pro apex as well, and i would appreciate tips on how to sharpen convex edges. Thx for your time and possible reply :P
The FFR / Bravo EDC question is a tough one!!! I own a FFR and not a Bravo EDC, but I've had them both in hand and in front of the camera at the same time (see my Bravo EDC vid) and I can't honestly tell you which I prefer. But for me, the thinner stock of the FFR makes it a better EDC, so that was my deciding factor.
TheApostleP ya, I after asking the question, I looked at your vids on both the Bravo and and Featherweight. I decided to go with the Featherweight. Just has better esthetics, and ergonomics. I think Bark River is gonna be a new sickness. Already looking at an Adventurer 2 and Pro Scalpel. 😔 there goes my $
ADAM HENSON ya man, just but the Featherweight this morning and I'm already looking at a Bravo EDC, with Marron micarta and blue liners. I think I've been bit by the bug
I really wish more companies would release knives with wood or micarta scales. I know Spyderco did it with the Sage 4 and it wasn't much of a hit but the bubble of high speed, low drag tacti-cool knives is bound to end and I bet it will be sooner rather than later. Most of the knives produced during it will look very much dated.
Honest Blade See how the main blade has a pronounced, pointy kick that swoops down just before the sharpening notch? Now look at the secondary blades. See how the tang narrows to meet the base of the blade instead of flaring out? In those blades, the kick is in back, hidden, not exposed in front. This makes them function togther with the curve of the bolster a bit like a choil, allowing you to get your finger closer to the edge more comfortably, for better control.
Honest Blade Here's a thread with a good photo of the hidden part of the hidden kick: www.bladeforums.com/forums/showthread.php/1142564-Kick-Me!-(or-why-are-some-kicks-not-like-the-other-)
Thanks for sharing all of those fine edc choices with us. I see that we share some of the same interests such as the GB2 and Bark River knives, I own one of the last "North Star" BR knives from production and it is one of my favorites. Since you are fond of the Fox River you might want to look at CRKT's "Hunt'n Fisch" or CRKT's Russ Kommer designed "Brow Tine" BTW Bark River has a few new designs similar to the mini fox River you might find interesting.
James Armstrong Why is that? It's a fairly commonly used term for normal folks who don't have violent crime or personal protection on their radar screen, and to whom the sight of a weapon (or a tool which could be used as a weapon) is a scary thing. It's a lot easier to say "sheeple."
