After 2ish years of watching your videos I finally gave in and bought a pig. It definitely does exactly what you’d expect a pig to do. The only thing that surprised me was how well I can forehand the pig. It goes about 20 feet farther forehand than all the other approach discs I’ve tried. I feel like I can make it do exactly what I want, and stick exactly where I want. Thank you for contributing to my future pig endeavors 😂 I put it straight in the bag after giving it a toss.
A somewhat underrated disc that I always keep in the bag is the Viking cosmos. First disc I ever aced with. Think it’s a very good starter disc as well to help with teaching newer players some angle control in the 7 speed slot.
My base plastic os disc is the tactic as you mentioned right at the end. I got a RC3 as os, new exo hard for straight to stable, and a beat to heck exo hard as my precious child.
My first os approach disc was and still is the harp. Got it in pink opto ice orbit and absolutely fell in love with it :D It feels so nice on the forehand chip ups but im kinda torn on how the bead feels on backhand. Still propably my most thrown disc this year.
Glad the elbow is coming along well, Robbie!! I carry a Jawbreaker Zone and a Star Toro, and love both! The JB Zone; the harder you throw it, the straighter it goes. I need to get a backup and beat that in!! The Toro is certainly more OS, but it's not a dump truck...it's very usable and reliable overstability. I do get that there's some overlap between the two, but I also feel like there will always be approach shots I can throw with one that I can't with the other. I don't anticipate either one coming out of my bag anytime soon!
The Crystal Flx Get Freaky Zone is my first overall choice and I used to supplement that with a more overstable Peppermint. I eventually replaced the PM with a 400 A2 but recently replaced that with a Special Blend A2 (Gannon Buhr Austin "Frozen Longhorn") that I probably use more than the Zone. It's my go to for forehand approach shots within 150'.
Overstable putt/approach for me is the zone, but specifically the 2022 Ledgestone metallic Z Flx. I have probably 15 at this point and grab more when I find them. They hold up pretty well, but my two that are in my bag are now in two different seasoning stages. May have to put a 3rd in for the new os slot.
Thanks for walking us through your discs and why... along with alternatives... very informative and helpful... now if you could get Jason to dance in the background it would be a perfect video!
Can't believe you didn't mention the Harp - my OS approach disc. When I found your channel (about 2/3 videos in of you starting it) and subscribed, you were throwing them.
My overstable approach disc is an extra soft exo vapor tactic that I actually found in a pond. Contacted the original owner and he said I could have it. I was really greatful. I didn’t have a disc for that spot yet. My son throws the tempo in that spot
Love throwing the buzz and wasp. I’ll throw either one around 270ft, then suddenly it’ll fall out of the air, and fade at the same time. I have them both in 176-177 grams
I throw the Roc x3 in that slot you mentioned it. I’ve had at least 4 throw ins with it in league rounds. Been messing with the Crystal Flex zone a lot, I think it’s going to make putting east cause I’m parking them with my eyes closed.
So did they change the mold on the pug between the 3103 and 4103. My gold on white R-Pro 3103 has an edge profile that from the edge seam, continues out slightly more before rounding to the top ridge, then the top platter domes from about 10mm in to just above the ridge. My black on ruby pink R-Pro 4103 has the sedge seam slightly higher, a steeper lower profile, a quicker turn in of the profile above the seam and a top plate level with the top ridge. The 4103 seems to have a slightly narrower round edge profile, with the longer lower profile giving the disc the same height to the top ridge as the 3104, but the 3104 cones out higher with it's raised flat top (so it's not a pop top dome making it higher, just a higher lift close inside the top ridge.
Dude got my first PIG ACE today on a little 180ft hole!!! I have have a few aces under the belt but none feel as good as a PIG ACE!!! Why is the PIG so good man??? For real this disc is just absolute money!
Disc I throw that people always ask me why is Innova Rollo. But the midrange overstable for me is Innova Toro. My son dyed the disc at the Music City Open but it was too heavy so I took it out. Love it. So, understable = Rollo. Overstable = Toro. I would like to try Innova Banshee and RocX3
-KC Pro Aviar (short shots with reliable fade) -Swan 1 Reborn (putts and short anhyzer shots) -Moonshine Harp (short approach shots, hard fade) -EMAC Truth (mid distance shots with reliable fade, straight flex shots) -Maul (distance shots, big sweeping turnovers, flip ups)
I personally love my Campion Rhyno for my overstable putt and approach disc. It's a little more domey than my rpro or dx Rhyno. To me, Rhynos are pigs, just a little slower and great for flex shots 💪
For some reason you forgot Rift and Pathfinders. Both are very good. As for the zone spot, Doomsday's Area 51 has surprised me as someone who doesn't like the zone at all and needed something between the Razor Claw 3 and the Berg. Also, harp is good but a House of Discs thing so ... expect price increases without explanation at your own risk. (Note: My RC3 and Bergs are pre-HoD, so when they are toast I'll look elsewhere)
Forehand driver is a beat in 170 weight Guld in K1. Approach - A2 750 plastic Fairway flippy - K1 lots Mid- K3 kaxe a beat in one for straight new one for some beef Straight putter - my old putting putter reko
Mr RU-vid Man, why didn't you mention the Crave when you talked about fairway drivers. 😊 My discs in those slots: Distance forehead: Tesla/Fluid Felon Flip up fairway drivers: 147g fission Crave (1 of 4 craves in my bag) Approach discs: (FH) Fluid Justice (BH) Soft Tempo/Soft Berg Straight Throwing Putters: Zero Soft Pure
The Sockibomb Slammers are notably more Overstable than a Pig, but the OG Slammers are a little less Overstable than the Pigs. hahaha so I'd say they slot perfectly between Slammers!
I do Toro and AX3. Wind, more fade, or slightly more distance = toro. Under 200, the rest are AX3. Also throw Suspects and Warden for other approaches.
