He used to dunk from teh free throw lines for his free throws in high school. He would start at the top of the key, throw the ball up toward the basket, take two steps, jump toward the rim and jam the ball through the net. Doing this resulted in basketball rules to state that a player cannot cross the plane of the free-throw line when shooting a free-throw.
Mahn these soapy players now won't take a constructive critique of their game do u think they will even respect advice like this... After all this players now days would just do a couple of dribbles and shoot a 3.. Smh
+Nicklas Mudymba with ease??? I mean I agree that Shaq would beat Howard obviously, but don't you think Dwight would do something, I mean he's a 3 times defensive player of the year
Dwight is not guarding shaq, especially in his Orlando days. That guy was averaging 20+ points in his rookie year, then jumped to almost 30 in his 3rd year. As a matter of fact, the league in the 90s was dominated by big men and the standard of big men were far higher back then than they are today. Dwight wouldn't even play center in the 90s, he'd be coming off the bench as a power forward at best.
Fact: Of all the top 50 NBA all time scorers, these 2 guys (Shaq and Chuck) are number 1 and number 2 in two point FG%. They are literally the best post up/two point shooters of all time.
Wilt averaged 50 points and 25 rebounds in one season. 100 points. 55 rebounds. Ran a 40 in 4.4 seconds. Bench pressed 500+ pounds (ask Arnold Schwarzenegger). Had a vertical of apparently 50 inches (he was a track and field star). Average height of centers back then was 6'10''.
Just som examples of the competition he played against: Walter Dukes (7'0", 220 lbs.) Swede Halbrook (7'3, 235 lbs.) Tom Boerwinkle (7'0", 265 lbs.) Bob Lanier (6'11", 265 lbs.) Darrall Imhoff (6'10", 220 lbs.) Otto Moore (6'11", 210 lbs.) Sam Lacey (6'10", 235 lbs.) George Johnson (6'11", 245 lbs.) Paul Ruffner (6'10", 230 lbs.) Dick Cunningham (6'10", 245 lbs.) Walt Bellamy (6'11", 225 lbs.) Leroy Ellis (6'10", 210 lbs.) Nate Thurmond (6'11", 235 lbs.)
The reason for less post up big men like shaq is because of international competition. Teams overseas run pick and roll and pick and pop cuz their big men space the floor out. NBA players had trouble guarding the pick n roll/pop in Olympics so that's why there's less big men with a strong post game.
Phil_Desmarais that twitter user should be ashamed for asking who would win in their primes Shaq or Dwight... Shaq would eat Dwight alive... Dwight can't even stand his own against prime David Robinson much less Shaq
jump hook automatic ---) ball misses completely lol Hakeem and Chamberlain> shaq, dwight shaq never in your career you learned how to throw a free throw never call yourself a professional again for dwight you are just hopeless as an attacking center
I like Dwight Howard don't get me wrong. But there is 0 comparison between Dwight & Shaq in their prime. Shaq would DOMINATE HIM. How would he do this you might ask? Why SHAQ FU of course ;)
how many big man younger than shaq that actually played against shaq can take on shaq one on one? only yao ming. dwight was not even close, he became the best big man in the game when yao was injured and no other real big man was in the game.
what, shaq is the most dominant big man ever, you obviously haven't watch any games. And wilt just played against white boys who were 5 inches shorter than him
he's one of those low post players who is notable for doing a lot with limited height, kind of in the mold of undersized 70s forward-centers like unseld, reed and cowens.. he had some post game and could rebound really well.
everybody used to talk about shaq like he was just big,now i think people can see the difference between one physical specimen like shaq and another like dwight.....shaq knew HOW to position himself and react to the defense to get himself in the best spot possible, dwight plays like an oversized guard who like the face up game and takes too many dribbles in traffic
That is basically saying shaq in his prime would fill every Center position on every team. Cmon man. Shaq in his prime faced jason collins... I dont even need to repeat that. Dwight would be in the league. And he would be the number 2 big in the game if shaq were in his prime.
Is anyone understanding what was said? I am not saying dwight is better. I know basketball. Why do yall keep bringing up those damn names. It is about shaq and dwight. Shaq in his prime would destroy anyone. But to say dwight wouldnt be in the league is blasphemous. Dwight was in the league when shaq was on a tear destroying centers left and right. Idc about the other names. We arent talking about them.
lol no. Dwight wouldn't. Shaq played against the likes of Ewing, Olajuwon, Robinson, Yao, Mourning, Mutombo, Divac, Sabonis. Hell, even Rik Smits was good. Dwight would be good defensively. On offense he couldn't hold a candle to any of those guys.
during shaqs was his prime, there were alot of great centers, i know Tim duncan is a PF but he plays center alot, Hakeem Olajuwon, rasheed wallace,,,, etc i dont even wanna name em all out, no dwight wouldnt be #2 sorry maybe if he was drafted by bobcat he might be the starting center
Remind me again when shaq was still playing the nba? hmmm... thats right he is retired he doesn't give a shit anymore. He meant automatic when he was still playing like howard and bynum are.
And further more, if shaq were in his prime in TODAYS nba with TODAYS players, he would be head and heels number one and dwight would a far away number two. So please.
