The purple trog in the video is actually a Trog Archmage. I believe I accidently called it the queen trog in the video. Trust me... the queen trog is much more dangerous lol.
Hey man, I just discovered your videos after playing the game for so long and I just wanted to say it’s awesome to see enthusiastic community members such as yourself putting out such awesome content! Keep it up, you’re killing it!
I start with brutal mace(comes with confusion hex) and tower shield almost every play now. Oh, and rage skill. So rage buff + confusion debuff = staggering enemies.
A good alternative to the scholar circlet is the master trader's hat if you can find it in the Soroborean Caravaneer's inventory while exploring Chersonese. -15% stamina cost will keep you in the fight much longer, particularly if you are wearing heavy armor and using a 2h weapon. My current playthrough is using blue sand chest + master trader hat/boots, and as a bonus I get extra pouch space.
I Would recommend Mace as a Extremely Useful, Easy to Learn, that can Trudge you too late game. If you find it slow you could always go Axe, low damage fast attack usually has a nice debuff, or effect, i personally go with GreatAxe, massive damage Short range so it is Extremely Useful, Medium to Learn, always try to get a Build before going for big fights.
I use the two handed fang great sword is the best for starting game it knock enemies down & defence also inflict bleeding so while generating your stamina and moving back they bleed to death and easy to make at start of the game.
Few notes: 1. Halberds and knuckles are arguable the worst starting weapon classes. Halberd skill needs 2 unavailable boons to be good. And there are very few good halberds in the first area. They are crazy strong (like all weapons) but later. All other weapons are approximately equal from the start. All of them have other upgrades like golden weapons or mantis greahammer. Even all 1h have 0 issues thanks to shield charge 2. Don't waste light particles for potions. They require farming while money are basically infinite. You also can apply crazy strong enchantment early with it if you are willing to use wiki 3. Consider ammolite set instead of blue sand. It has worse defense but it doesn't affect your speed and boosts you damage. It's also much cheaper. Heavy armors are meh before you get 1 skill in Levant 4. Lantern throw can carry you through the strongest enemies in the first region.
Full set of arcane with any boots. Warrior monk for master of motion. Cabal hermit for boon power. Rune for defense and resistance. This literally makes you over like 80 resistance I think for multiple elements. PLUS good cooldown and mana reduction which is crazy lol.
3:35 i have never been so much disappointed.... As a new guy i try so hard to get this armor.... Tried so hard to kill Schrimps etc... And when i was able to do that....i never realised that this armor is SO F KING SLOW.... and i hate it.... i sold it right away :D
Copal or petrified may be better options for you then. Head to Berg to buy them from the blacksmith. Copal in particular is pretty great for defense without slowing you down.
I was streaming some hardcore yesterday and couldn't believe it when I found 2 cores in the first 30 minutes. lol I guess it's not as uncommon as I thought it would be haha
You missed one of the most important things to grab early: the Fitness skill that grants you +25 health (Yeah, I know it's not gear but I thought it was worth mentioning it)
@@SheenShots I noticed that sometimes it haves and some others it doesn't, (? I traveled to the dlc zone for clearing my curses and there it has the cd reduction, but in cierzo it didn't 🤨
I get the idea that staggering might be seen as a necessity, but I think it really depends on build and playstyle. Using a 1H sword I prefer to just use its speed to get in 1-2 hits at a time.
After playing more with each weapon I really think every weapon type is perfectly capable of staggering or dealing good damage if used correctly. Just takes a bit to get used to each of the move sets and they all can be fun.
Yeah the good thing about this game is that it can make almost any build viable, but damn if high impact weapons don't make the game much easier for people just starting the game. I would've dropped the game out of frustration so quickly hand't I tried the fang halberd which made early game feel like a breeze lmao
So I lost moon swipe by exiting the tunnel in the mines before talking to that guy. Is there a way to get it back at the cost of some silver and my embarrassment?
You can grab the Moon Swipe skill from a man in copal armor. He resides in Monsoon inside the inn. He will be sitting at a table there and I believe it is either 50 or 100 silver. Hard to remember rn.
I missed your last stream, But I did get my brother to play. He is still getting used to managing stamina and skill cooldowns. But he says he is enjoing co-op play.
I am just starting to try and get in this game again. Got it when it came out on playstation years ago and played it for like a week before I abandoned it. Just picked up the definitive edition on the x. I am going to give it the old college try this time but I will need these videos for help.
Don't worry, I made these videos because I myself had a rough time in Outward. They tell you very little about the game but once you start to figure out combat, puzzles, and story elements, you are hooked. This game has some of the best environmental storytelling I have ever seen so be sure to look out for that.
Corruption is the biggest difficulty for new players now that it got spread all over the world. Without knowing how to get the better potions you can easily become discouraged by the easy to get debuff.
Great video as always Sheen, Keep it up! I would probably not use the aquamarine and sapphire for the trog door tho, they're typically worth more sold then the loot inside.
Heey SheenShots, I love all your videos from back when I played it on the PlayStation, this was back on the normal edition. Seeing that the Nintendo switch will get the Definitive Edition in a couple of months. Will you be making new video’s on Outward DE? On an optimal start, new builds for returning or new players?
ugh... the ps5 bug that causes all the buffs’ visual effects to be missing is sooooo annoying. watching that poison drip from your weapon is killing me. 😅😔 at least the power coils are common. i’ve gotten so many. mana stones too- by the time i got back from the wind tower, i had over 20 purple rocks. enemies seem to spawn very oddly now too. not sure if it’s a bug or a deliberate change. 🤷♂️
The enemy spawns are kind of bugged a bit ya. But the new loots drops are AWESOME. You can make some serious silver from just looting dead bodies in the trog cave now which is nuts.
I created like 8 characters since DE launch and chersonese spawn were too low in all of them, mainly bandits (zero bandit spawns except in dungeons and in front of vendavel dg). Today I created a new char and chersonese were full of bandits, like before DE. I'm curious if it's a bug
@@Arrisu_ Yes we believe it is a bug. Sometimes areas with be completely viode of enemies but entering and exiting a cave makes them spawn in. Other players have had bandits randomly spawn on top of them making it annoying to say the least. I imagine they are working on a patch for this.
Might they have changed something since the video, I dont get Moon swipe when getting a skill. First I got Simeon's Gambit, thought I had done something wrong with having the spear sheathed. I made a quick new game and made sure to have the spear in hand, but got Simeon's Gambit again. Did I do something wrong?? Edit: halberd.... stupid me, I got the spear.
@@SheenShots Is that actually good? I figured most enemies would be resistant against their own element and never tried it. Then again, ice-witches could give you frost for the rest of the bandits, hmm...
Why stop at a fanged weapon? You can make horror weapons pretty early by raiding the temple of winds, which you can famously clear without directly fighting anything. Or just take the thrice-wrought halberd that you also get along the way.
Be sure you are actually in DE. There was an issue where the game would send you to the old version of the game if you didn't go through steam to open it. Other than that I am not sure.
Yes each region will reset after 7 days. The towns will reset loot every 3 days I believe. You will need to be outside a region for it to reset. In a town counts as outside the region, but if you have been in one area that whole time that might be why it hasn't happened.
sword combat has its own different playstyle that doesn't need to stagger. it's based on its special attack that lets you sidestep opponents, so it's mostly about positional play.
All styles can succeed in stagger if you go in it correctly, but you are also very correct. The sword is one of the better classes for movement. Actually positioning yourself around your enemy as they attack head on. Spear is probably the second best for position as it gives you so much reach you can easily dodge away. But the special attacks on one handed sword are amazing for many different enemies.
Outward can be brutal especially when you are just getting into it. But after you learn a lot more about the game it gets incredibly for interesting. Loads more to find and test out at that point.
Hey I just discovered ur vid today and I went to the shop for the circlet you talked about and it doesn't have the cooldown on it would u possibly know where I could find or buy another one that has it on the item?
I just went and checked to make sure this is still a thing. The scholar circlet will have -10% cooldown no matter what regardless of where you get it. IF this is not the case, you are not playing on Definitive Edition. If you bought DE and are confused by this, just know that the desktop shortcut takes you to the old version of the game. You need to enter the game through steam or change a setting. Hopefully this helps. If you are on console I unfortunately can't help because it shouldn't be a problem on there. Here is a very short video about it: ru-vid.comTw-1UL1kW0A
@SheenShots ok thank you. And yea I'm on ps4 I got the game bc my friend and was looking for builds and found ur vid. So thought I'd try it out. As for the scholar circlet if I can't get it fixed I'll try that arcane armor you and another viewer talked about in this comment section. Thank you for the help I appreciate it. 🙏
psh, how can you say that a mace is slower than a sword? The attack speed listed in the game is the exact same for both of them. That makes the combat broken alone. How are you supposed to do anything without a guide if the game doesn't even know how to fight? I mean, it might make sense that a mace is slower than a sword, but the game doesn't say it is. Broke AF combat that ruins the WHOLE game. Halberd, sword, mace. ALL say "1" for attack speed. Even on the wiki it is the same. That should mean that the only difference is the damage type, ie crushing for mace and slashing or stabbing for sword.
Well each weapon has a different attack speed. From 0.8 up to 1.2. The later being the fastest. A 1.0 attack speed is going to be different depending on the weapon though. Just because different weapon types would swing at different speeds. No matter what you do swinging a two handed axe is slower than swinging a sword. So attack speed changes depending on weapon type. As to be more realistic. In order to use two handed weapons more efficiently, you will need to match different skills appropriately to open up good attack timing. Push kick to stagger, brace to stun, and sweep kick to knock enemies over altogether. Attack speed is the difference between having more attack times verses much less. The balance to this is slower weapons do much more damage. Sword deals low amounts but its really fast. Hammer has extremely slow attacks but has very high damage. I don't think Outward really distinguishes different weapons attacks. Bludgeon, slash and stab all just deal different amounts of stagger damage for the most part. Outward very commonly doesn't tell you everything. There are a lot of details especially with the stats you need to figure out as you go.
@@SheenShots you're still missing my point about how it says "1" in the game. If you say it can range from 0.8 to 1.2, then why do all of them say "1"? It's broken. I can't believe how many people justify how broken this game is. It's like some weird form of Stockholm Syndrome. This game is nearly impossible for a person to play without looking up guides or having someone else hold their hand. I have not found a single player who has played through it without a guide. THAT is a broken game. I have played hundreds of games in my 27 years alive and have only had to look up a guide to complete something a handful of times.
@@DustyTheDog That's because in your young life you have only played modern games that have very effectively held the hand of players throughout the games. You have not played the old school games that this game aspires to mimic. Back in the day, you didn't get the same hand holding. A lot of players needed guides. A player's lack of skill does not a broken game make. Old school games were largely about experimentation. They are not for the impatient without guides. The biggest difference between the modern games you're accustomed to and old school ones is that the guide for modern games are built inside them, not so for old school games. You want a guide, you have to look them up outside the game. As to the weapons speed, it's you who misses Sheen's point. The speed stat is not meant to compare between weapon types. It is meant to compare within the same weapon type. A 1.2 great axe is faster than a 0.8 great axe, but that 1.2 great axe is not necessarily faster than that 0.8 sword. When you compare weapon speed stat between weapon types, you are comparing apples to oranges. And the weapons don't all say "1". Play more.
lol another person justifying bad games. Y'all need to go seek therapy. Have a great rest of your life! Just judging by the way you consider 27 to be "young" shows me that you're a Boomer who had nothing growing up an think that is the way everyone should have it. A judgement not in any more error than your very own about my experience based on my age. I grew up poor, my first console was SNES....in 2004. I know older games. I didn't get a PS2 until 2010. It was only once I started working at 16 that I got anything remotely current with the time, a 360, which was still 4 years old at that point. As for your weapon speed thing, that "guide" you can call the wiki says nothing about what you say. It is a direct comparison between weapon types. This comes straight from the "guide"-- "The higher a weapon's attack speed value, the faster it hits. However, each weapon class has its own base animation speed, so weapons with the same attack speed stat of different classes will not have the same actual speed." EACH CLASS HAS IT'S OWN BASE SPEED> how can something with 0.8 hit slower than something else with 0.8??? This is due to animation timing. It's bad game design to not take this into account and give the player this info. It's bad game design to have the same stat do different things. Got learn some more. Get some glasses that actually work, Boomer.
Burac will give you a free one for whatever weapon you have equipped before leaving Cierzo. After that, each town has NPC's that can sell you one type of weapon skill. Then some of the skills trees have powerful weapon skills as well.
Unfortunately the talent npc don't give weapon specific talents in Vanilla Outward..he always gives Rage boon..And the headpiece also don't give cd reduction in Vanilla..but after completing game over 10 times I have all but put this game away..just started Elden Ring..but great video as always..
Power coils do spawn in starting chests since Definitive Edition update. They are actually quite common. If you are not getting them, it is possible that you have just been unlucky thus far... or you could be playing on the old version. Double check the main screen says definitive edition, because before DE they didn't spawn the hardly at all. And yes this is the case in the starting area. The game has not been updated in any significant ways since I released this video. Hope that helps.
