Both Charizard Mega evos are cool to me. Both lose their water weakness (Thanks to Drought in Y's case) and get a SIGNIFICANT increase in their offensive stats! Mega Charizard X gets a gigantic 130 attack which is further boosted by Tough Claws and boosting moves such as Swords Dance and Dragon Dance while Mega Charizard Y gets a MEWTWO level base 159 Special Attack further boosted by Drought! Damn!
Yeah, Drought is still a very powerful ability, even with the nerf. That, together with the fact, that charizard doesn't get that many good physical fire type moves makes charY the better choice. I admit though, that I too was hyped for a dragon type physical charX.
For those who has been arguing about which is better, charizard x or charizard y, the answer is both is strong in it's own way. Charizard x is a tank that needs setup like dragon dance and will-o-wisp but is extremely good at taking down enemies in a single hit. Charizard y on the other hand isn't that dependant on setups, but it is easier to counter as well, it's dependant on the weather which is drought, it can be countered by stealth rock and other weather pokemons such as politoad and tyranitar, a special pokemon who can rape Mega char y is barbaracle, he can use shell smash and survive with a focus sash than kill him with stone edge. Either way i myself prefer char x but i have seen char y in action and he could be devestating sometimes. No mega evolution is better than the other. It's just a matter of opinion.
I honestly believe Mega Charizard Y is the better deal. He gets the Drought ability, which powers up fire type moves and allows him to use Solarbeam (which I was surprised he could learn it) in one turn. He's immune to ground, which X does not have, and he's resistant to fairies, but of course. this's my opinion lol
Don't forget the insane power up on special attack... Spa higher than most legendary pokemon(not counting Deoxis attack form and mega-mewtwo), Mega-evolving that solar beam into Insanity Beam.
Actually fairy type moves do regular damage because fairy type moves are not very effective against fire. Also water does normal damge as well and since its not half flying electric type moves are not very effective because of its dragon typing also mega charizard x gets a boost in attack plus the ability tough claws witch powers up physical moves. And mega charizard x is not 4x weak to anything. Lol so i guess you could say they are equally good
Yea that would be cool, but then u would have a merge for a lot of types the reson they out so many dragon megas is to make people use them then fairy won't be so op but if us have a mega sylveon u got a beast that can rek any dragon
No one's mentioning Mega Mawile? They took a Pokémon no one cared for, gave it an Attack of 105, changed its Ability to Huge Power, and now it has the highest Attack stat in the game (higher than Deoxys Attack Form)!
Mega Mewtwo X and Mega Gardevoir are my top favorites. When Gardevoir mega evolves it reminds me of Cinderella and Mewtwo x looks awesome and I've always seen Mewtwo as male, not female.
I'm really torn when it comes to Mega Charizard X... on one hand, I never gave a flying fuck about him not being a dragon, but it's soooooooooooo freakin' good to finally see him used in competitive battling. It's always been quite depressing to know that my all-time favorite pokemon was considered a noobish choice and a terrible pokemon to have in a competitive team, but NOW.... now he's everywhere. As he ALWAYS should've been. And we owe it all to Mega Charizard X. But at the same time... oh man, I really don't like his colors. Why make it black? Shiny Charizard is already black. And...... blue? REALLY? How lame is that? CHARIZARD IS RED, NOT BLUE, DAMMIT. You could've made the flames green, yellow, red, purple, white.... geez anything but blue *facepalm*
***** Yeah I know that, but I think it just doesn't suit him... usually blue is associated with water or electicity...it's just so weird to see it on charizard. It's like making Blissey black. It just doesn't fit XD And actually his underwings are more green than blue.
TKFlare97 in your original comment you said "Charichard" i was saying that charizard the way you typed it like he was a sir because Cha --( Richard ) i think when people go my name is richard im like he is fancy
carlos oilvars If anything, Darkrai and Cresselia are definitely floating Pokemon. Darkrai only produces legs in the movie because he needs to stabilize himself on top of things.. other than that, he doesn't get legs.
I hate that they made overpowered pokemon like lucario, blaziken and garchomp more overpowered by giving them mega evolutions, they should have given mega evolutions to stuff like farfechd or magcargo instead!
Mega Charizard > Mega Charizard Y Better looking, better overall typing, better physical attack (Tough Claws), doesn't rely on support, can use boosting moves, absolutely wrecks everything outrage and flare blitz, it's more versatile, it's not a flying type, it becomes a dragon, it can OHKO Charizard Y with Flare Blitz after 1 Dragon Dance, how it's moves have better accuracy (not stupid fire blast and focus blast).. And I could go on.
Thank you! Finally someone who knows how much more reliable X is competitively! Given all you said and the fact that in ORAS move tutors will most likely make a comeback, everyone will be using T-punch Mega X. Also love your profile pic btw, I'm looking forward to Mega Sceptile, he deserves a comeback after being the least loved hoenn starter and it's intelligently designed given the animal it's based on.
Too bad they gave Mega evolutions to all the pokemon that DIDN'T NEED THEM. Poor pokemon that get forgotten and nobody likes. Mawile and Medicham were good choices, I would never consider them without Mega, but did SCIZOR really need another reason to be overused? TYRANITAR? I can't think of any pokemon I've seen more of than these two in competitive battling, but they still got a facelift. Ridiculous.
I like mega charizard Y, i don't like how fat X looks nor his blue flames, and dragon typing is still bad. Y with drought is frekaing powerful. Idk my own opinion. I never even liked charizard until i saw his Y mega evolution.
I don't like how Y's wings are broken, how it is raped by stealth rocks, how drought only lasts 5 turns, how its physical defense is pathetic, how fragile it is, how predictable it is, how easy it is to take it down...
DBZeenX Yes, but it is fast and those 5 turns it owns everything so you don`t even notice its bad defense, unless you have an even faster pokemon with an supereffective move. altso shiny y charizard is cooler than charizard x in my opinion.
June Syrdalen If Y was SO MUCH better than X, then why is it in OU tier? Aren't UU Pokémon outclassed by better versins? (Like sceptile to roserade) Then that means Charizard Y *IS NOT* better than X. Period.
Pascal Wessels IKR people think oh this is the new arceus because of its design but it will never become even close to the y version or arceus and am I the only one who likes charizard Y's design better?
X is better than Y. Xerneas and its broken Geomancy. Mega Charizard X and its broken ability. Mega Mewtwo X, yeah, its not the big stuff, but its less fragile than Mega Mewtwo Y.
***** lost silver use hunter drone missle launcher loaded with 50 misseles and will hunt anything till its dead lost silver shot it at charizard y charizard blew into bits and pieces
In the Wii game "Super Smash Bros. Brawl" the playable character Lucarios Smash Attack makes Lucario looks like Lucarios Mega Evolution in X/Y (Super Smash Bros. Brawl came out in 2008)! This suggests Lucarios Mega Evolution was designed already :P in 2008 :P
My favorite Mega Evolution is Mega Ampharos. Sure some people thinks it looks dull but damn Ampharos is fabulous! When in Mega Evolution, it will gain balance defense and a major special attack boost. The downside that it will be slow. I love Ampharos and I'm so happy this friendly Pokémon got its Mega Evolution.
The cool thing about Mega Charizard X is that even though it is a Dragon type, it isn't weak to fairy types. Fire types have a resistance to Fairy type attacks.
How many Mega Evolution Rocks are there in the game? If there is only the one you got early in the game in Lumiose City, then should I stick to using it for Blastoise since it's called the Blastoisinite? If I test it, will it mess up and doom me to losing it forever?
Mega Charizard X and Mega Mewtwo Y are my favorites. A bit problematic but still... PS. Could you please make the Origins Moments video available to everybody, or at least hide it so that it can at least be accessed by anybody who has a link to it?
Brandon, you actually hit Mega Absol's symbolism right on the head. Absol's scythe was supposed to symbolize that life would be taken if its warnings were not heeded. The new fashion with the wings symbolize it being a guardian angel watching ever those it warns like it always has. Absol is just a really HUGE behind the scenes character, always warning people when disaster will strike and protecting them from it a little like in Jirachi: Wish Maker. It tried to protect Jirachi from anyone near it because Absol could sense it was in danger of bringing disaster.
I'm just freaking glad and happy that I can finally use a blond haired and blue eyed female hero and use my full first name, Mackenzie, instead of just short for my name which is Kenzie. I am officially in love with Pokemon X version and I am having a blast with it! :D
I was kinda hoping that Houndoom wouldn't have a Mega Evolution, and instead have an actual permanent evolution that made it resemble a Cerberus. Opportunity missed. Would have been badASS.
I notice how all of your favorite types are all dark types or pokemon that could like that they would be dark types :P! How about Mega Gengar? That reveal blew my mind immensely, but I do like Ghost-types, so I can't help but to love ghost-designs *cough*
5: Houndoom. I thought he was kinda deeply looking with the goat horns, but I love how he grows much taller and get bone horns 4: Mega Charizard X. I think he's really neat looking, with the blue flames and the color scheme. But mostly was the dragon type. I was happy for that because he can get STAB on dragon moves. And tough claws adds to it. 3: Absol. Absol was always a strange Pokemon for me. Just didn't make sense. Now with the mega evolution, Absol kind of look goth. Fits for the disaster Pokemon. 2: Amphros. This comes with some nostalgia. When I was about 9 years old, I used to go on family trips. They always had a long car ride, so I just read books. One time, I read a book about a mareep farm, and Ash was trying to help the farmer who was having problems with the mareep. In the end, an amphros comes in and tells the mareep what to do, and the farmer is relieved. That was my favorite story, and it ended up being the most fun trip. I was really excited for the mega evolution, and that snazzy hair! 1: Banette. Banette is a really nest little Pokemon, creating creepypastas all over the web. Except banette isn't that good. Mega came, and Banette became a lot better, gaining a cool design, and, mostly, getting Prankster. That is such a good combo with Destiny Bond! A really good late game revenge killer. Wondering why Gengar isn't on this list? Just search "Never forget leg day!" On google images. Be warned, you'll never look at mega gengar the same.
Mega Lucario blew you? I assume you meant "blew me away" of coarse, but I'm positive you have some editing software man, you're better then that holmes
My favorites: Charizard X (the black and blue makes it look sleek), Ampharos, Gardevoir, Tyranitar, Alakazam, Blastoise. TEAM ACT FROM MYSTERY DUNGEON GOT MEGAS.
