To get myself in shape and help with my food situation, I bought a broad fork to dig my garden. In my first year, last year I have over 200 jars of food and ate from my garden all summer long.
I just planted Moringa. Moringa Powder is also good, lightweight- high in Vitamins and Nutrients, Gives You Lots of Natural Energy. Hope your Garden goes well. I wanna try Hugelculture beds or Air pruning buckets. But Growing inside house with l.e.d grow lamps seems to be were its headed even for vegetables. #CananaExpo
@@gilbertpena2153 Nice idea with LED lights. I have been looking for something that works due to poor sunlight in my house. I cant even grow herbs inside. Fresh items for cooking are so wonderful.
I am a 77 year old lady and I have one room mate. I am sheltering in place in my home too. Is it possible you have a trusted family member you can stay with? But it is hard to know who you can trust any more. I have watched several different prepers with videos on preping in an apartment and on how to protect yourself. You might look some of them up. You could even go on Utube and hit the ditch icon and ask for "prepping in an apartment". I just want to let you know you aren't alone. 🐈🤭. God bless you and stay safe.
Couldn’t agree more about being in shape. I got a little doughy a few years back and had a wake up call when I got 2 flat tires in the mountains and had to walk 23 miles before I got cell service to call for assistance.
@** I think it was around 10:30am when I started walking. I was alone and headed to a wedding. I took a scenic route through the mountains without telling anybody which was a mistake. I had finally walked far enough to to get cell service around 5pm. I called 911 and told them that my life wasn’t exactly in danger but I was in quite a jam. I gave them my approximate location using the maps app on my phone and they seemed pretty confident of where I was and they sent a tow truck out for me. So I stayed in place for about another hour and a half before the tow truck driver picked me up. He reset the odometer like he would if he was charging me for a tow and told me it was just over 23 miles back to where my truck was. We got the truck loaded up and he took me about 50 miles to the wedding, I made it just in time for the reception. He felt bad for me and gave me a really good discount for the tow. A part I forgot to mention was that I didn’t have food or water with me and it was the middle of July and quite warm out. After about 16 miles I found a sheep herders cabin near the road that was unlocked and had a case of bottled water and a jar of mixed nuts and some cans of soup inside. Apparently it’s common practice in the area for the owners of these cabins to leave them unlocked and stocked with the basics in case of such emergencies or maybe an elk hunter loses their way they will have a place to take shelter. Anyway it changed how I travel. I always have water, a life straw, a small battery bank for my phone, flashlight, and extra clothing under my rear seat. This happened in the big horn mountains in a very rural part of Wyoming in 2018.
Been prepping since March 2020. Happy to report moved to a rural area with great people and away from locked down Chicago. Stay prepped and stay safe all.
I always prepped gradually, but after March 2020, i am more focus on it, reading, researching, and studing, about food, water, defense, medical, self sufficient, is important im a single mother, so i have to do every thing in my power to protect myself and child.
Good video Sootch. I am 68 and I get out and walk 5-7 miles every day unless it's raining. Some days I train just wearing a get home backpack when I walk. Keep up the faith!
Turn 69 and I don't want no 5 to 7 mi a day but I need to I used to run 3 mi a day when I was in my early 60s period but I need to get back in shape I really know it
You inspire me. I sometimes walk to my grocery store/coffee shop two miles away and take the bus part way back. I should do that every day (except when it rains or snows). Am 75.
Thank you for the great advice and ideas, Sootch. I'm amazed that I have all 10 points covered and then some. As an avid overland camper, backpacker (63 years) and hiker (exercise) and 23 years as a highly trained Independent Duty Medical Technician in the Air Force I feel confident that I can protect my home, myself and my wife. Our home is surrounded by security lights that I installed years ago and they get checked periodically and replaced if necessary. As I watch channels like yours and multiple others I take notes and my "library" is at six volumes of the Memo books from Walmart; while on sale I pick up several. Every so often I read or peruse them to refresh my memory. At 73 my mental status has diminished somewhat :) Our Jeep is a rolling bug out vehicle and I can load my wife (wheelchair bound) and myself and drive away. It is well equipped with extra clothing, wool blankets, tools, hand-to-hand combat weapons, comms, two first aid kits (one boo boo and one major) and a lockable secured small metal gun box that has cash and a couple credit cards. Most of the cash are in rolls of quarters, dimes and nickels; $200 in small bills, fives and tens. The box is steel cabled to the vehicle frame. I have a second box that will house my handgun but it stays safely in our home until we need it. If we do bug out in our vehicle I will use an app that will assist me in booking rooms anywhere in the world.
Many gyms are being forced to shutdown. I've had several friends, who know I'm ex-mil, ask me lately what exercises to do to stay in shape. You can find trainers on youtube that give full step aerobics, wall sit, core/planking, yoga workouts that require no props or gear that can be done anywhere. Strength trainers may need to improvise. I remember guys bench pressing the bunks in basic training. Curling garbage bags filled with water. Where there's a will, there's a way.
Major props on speaking to physical fitness first. So many of us have too many pounds and having 20 guns won't do too much if you get winded going up and down the stairs a few times.
Very useful , thanks. Would have to disagree with you a little though. Mors Kochanski said of wilderness survival that one should prioritize warmth and water. It seems that clothing and sleeping bags that would keep you alive in your area if there is no heat or if an emp has wiped out your heating plans would be first. If no immediate threat from the environment is out to get you ( human or animal) hypothermia will kill you before dehydration or starvation if temperatures are low. In a hot climate situation, probably hydration would be number one.
Glad you mentioned HAM but you can also communicate on FRS & GMRS (with a license for 70 bucks on GMRS). You can easily program a Beofeng on both frequencies with many videos available and at $22 bucks it is a MUST HAVE.
Do not rule out the CB radio, the CB radio is still a good technology and you don't need a ham license, I would suggest having a CB radio that has Side Band, I still talk on a CB radio and I can talk to people all over the country and all over the world depending on conditions, on a usual basis I can talk locally up to a hundred miles, I know my channel is not for everyone but I have videos on my channel that prove that depending on conditions the amount of distance I can talk to people so don't overlook the CB radio. Thanks for all you do from the 1122 Wingnut radio out here in Panama City Florida
Dr.Pruett works 4 blocks from my house in Portland,Oregon and I've actually been seen by him in years past when I had to go to the ER. I had know idea about his side business. That's awesome!
00:38 While most people live a very sedimentary lifestyle, I try to live more of an igneous life; some might even say metamorphic, lol. Seriously Don, love your videos and the quality advice you put out month after month, year after year. As you point out, we've all lived a low intensity SHTF situation these past several months. It's knocked the mainstream populous out of their normalcy bias thinking that seriously bad things can't happen to modern society. It's great people like you are out there arming folks with solid prepping info.
Another great video bro.. Our top five 1. Have a fallout shelter. 2. A well system in your shelter 3. A septic system in your shelter 4. A charcoal breathing system 5. Be in good shape I know lots of people are not going to have any of this because they did not join a militia. But the powers that be they will use bio weapons at any means.
@@Enes-wj5xq hate to break your heart there buddy but we in bravo company have a very large fallout shelter that we built ourselves and it took us over 15 years and it is hidden in a secret location
I like your videos and I love the content but I must disagree with you on some of these recommendations. I was homeless for a period of time when I was in my 30's and the only real things a person needs to survive is food, water and shelter. Warmth in the spring, summer and fall is also paramount to surviving. Having relationships with people, social interaction is also very important. Even when I hadn't eaten in 3 days just to have friends that were going through the same thing was very helpful. I have made water filters out of burned charcoal, sand and a little piece of cloth and it really works. Thanks for sharing your wisdom with us and keep the videos coming.
Important video. Thank you. I have 30 pounds of rice in the freezer plus six weeks' supply of food, cleansing agents, etc. Keeping rice in a freezer keeps those nasty little eggs and bugs from forming.
one thing i like about having otc/basic medical items ties into the food, it means you dont have to go out, how many time pre-SHTF have we had to go out for a trip just for antacids, bendryl, etc. when someting flares up and you're out of that item good video!!
we can never hear these fundamentals too many times! I'm watching this on my phone (Patreon) while my husband is getting treatment and the nurse asked me about prepping. I think the Sootch00 channel just got a new subscriber!
1. Get in shape. 2. Security and self defense. A. Flashlight. B. Firearm. C. Fixed blade knife. D. Pepper spray. 3. Food & water. Water filter. 4. Medical supplies. 5. Cash. $500 min. & silver coins. 6. Power. Solar or generator. 7. Communication. Phone, 2 way radio & ham radio, internet. 8. Tools. Shovels, axe, chain saw, fire starters. 9. Bug out bag. Water filter, fire starter, Food, 1st aide, etc 10. 10.
was told by a police officer to use wasp spray no way to rince it its an ER emergency or your blind then if the cops are still active they know where to look for the bad guy
Unfortunately here in the UK self defence is not a legal right. Your response to a threat has to be 'reasonable force' so for instance when a friend of mine came down stairs holding his shotgun and interrupted a burglar stealing his TV the burglar ran off and called the Police. My friend was banned from owning guns for life and nearly got sent to prison.
In all seriousness what was he suppose to do to deter the man from thivery go to his house and steal his TV back In all honesty that is not self defense though thats crime prevention I know thats petty but still and i thought i wanted to visit the UK Maybe Notttt
Thanks for the idea about communications, particularly with an internet down or cell phone down scenario. That said, could you do some reviews on recommended 2-way radios to keep on hand?
SHALOM.... HELLO FROM KENTUCKY... SO GOOD TO SEE Y'ALL'S CHANNEL TODAY. THIS IS ONE OF THE BEST ENTERTAINMENTING SHOWS ON RU-vid. GOD BLESS AMERICA. GOD BLESS PRESIDENT TRUMP. GOD BLESS THE AMERICAN PEOPLE. 🙏AMEN🙏 IN GOD WE TRUST IN GOD WE LOVE 🛡🇺🇸🙏📜🙏🇺🇸🛡
Iowa experienced a very destructive durecho this summer. I am a paramedic in one of the areas that was hit very hard. Cell service from all carriers was non-existent for over 20 hours and radio communication was extremely limited due to damage. I can say without a doubt that you should not depend on the police/fire/ems to help immediately in the aftermath. We simply do not have enough resources to do so and were quickly overwhelmed. There were many communities without power for many days. The city of Cedar Rapids saw some communities devastated for weeks. I can say without a doubt that the two things people learned very quickly was the value of communication and a power source. Generators sold out over night and gas stations ran out of fuel within hours after the storm. People were driving over an hour away from their homes to buy fuel. I can only imagine how badly a country wide event would effect most people. Take prepping seriously and you will be able to stay safe and also help others. It's a very real consideration that you might not be able to use a vehicle due to debris on the roads. Even a bicycle would be extremely helpful for getting around when most roadways are blocked with debris/stuck cars.
Moved to my bug out location 32 years ago. Kids are all up and out, got no debt and manageable property taxes. I'm just watching it all burn down, hope you folks do okay.
Hot tip: I’m a loud sleeper and I snore a lot. A CPAP machine is the only way I can sleep quietly. So I know if I gotta bug out for some reason, it better be with a group. Taking turns keeping watch throughout the night isn’t something you can do solo. For me it could be deadly since I’d give away my position.
Those are really the 5 basics to start on. I am ok on food and water but I didn't realize I would need a gun until about July. The hand gun I wanted had to be ordered as my gun store said that that perticular guns sells out as soon as it comes in. They put my name on a waiting list and would hold one for me and call me when it came in. Five weeks later they called and I went to pick it up. I asked for extra amo and they only had 6 boxes left. Now the only thing I'm short on is amo. 🐈👍. God bless you and stay safe.
If you live in North or South Carolina, check out 365 Solar Energy for solar and battery backup. They just did my parents house and did an amazing job. They used all American Made panels and equipment and also supplied us with an 18 KW whole home GENERAC battery backup. We couldn’t be happier and we are ready for any situation now!
I try to follow a piece of advice from Alan Kay ( Alone s.1, Survival Dispatch). I try to use at least one survival skill every day, ie: building a fire w/ Ferro rod, finding/harvesting fatwood, knapping rocks to form tools or weapons, etc.
It sure is looking that way. The evil is really dug in. An the fact that nobody in government seems to have integrity. Whatever happened to love of country. It really seems like everyone is looking for someone else to do what needs to be done.
Motion detection flood lights are best to have on property. No power , Use solar power ones. i have a few of them screwed to trees around my property and they are very bright. Light up the area and they cost me nothing to operate. Mine were from Harbor Freight. Not the best but they work just fine.
I'm from Poland. I'm dont "prepers". I think that those who judge their chances coldly will survive. Anyone who thinks that he is like John Rambo and really is not, will survive shorter than a regular Smith or Kowalski without preparation but judging his abilities well. Ps. You are doing a good job 👍
you don't have the mass of urban hordes armed to teeth that we do here, its not even close to a comparable situation in Poland. Some of the major cities have 30 shootings a weekend without a crisis. Better have some Rambo preps if you live anywhere near a democrat city
@@bgh8904 I would like to point out that you must not overestimate your own abilities. In Poland, we have great difficulties in the legal possession of weapons, apart from hunters, ordinary citizens practically do not have firearms. My situation is quite comfortable. I live in a small village, the closest towns are small, everyone knows each other and it's quiet. There will be food in the shops until the knock, and the electricity in the houses will be fine. I am getting information about what is happening in the USA through the independent right-wing media on the Internet. I know that in cities where patriots have organized themselves and have weapons, there are no riots because the organizers of riots are afraid of clashes. With us, people would be defenseless. You must guard the right to possess a gun because this right is the basis of freedom.
Know your target and whats beyond. One of the cardinal firearm safety rules but also a great rule of thumb in a survival situation. If your target is to survive for 3 months know what/how to survive longer
I really like the idea of the gold foil bills that are invaded in plastic. Marked as made by a major mint and shows the amount of gold in the foil. Say 1/100 of an ounce our about $20. So the transaction is backed by the gold in the note. Wonder if this will catch on?
Most people have no idea how to use a tourniquet or use most medical supplies you need to learn how to use your equipment. I worked in surgery for 20 years and can sew people up if need be.
@@jacobrymer5268 Haha He is pretty serious isn't he? He has some interessting stuff about the grand solar minimum and how a lot of foodstorage goes up in flames too. (Adapt2030 is also on this topic) but his voice i find nagging.. ;)
Great advice about the water filters. But, the words, 'that water supplies are often shut down in times of unrest, like we've seen.', seems to be misleading and comes across as an advertisement. Where have the water supplies been shut down because of unrest and what type of unrest..?
@James Marquis keep up the good fight never give up or in do what you can sew cook can teach we all have skills we have forgotten and will be needed if you can sew learn to suture wounds help organize your not dead so your not screwed
Dollar Tree is the cheapest place I’ve found for smaller quantity of dried beans and lentils. $1 for a pound. Their pasta is quite good; used to be 1.5 pounds for $1 however now often decreased to 1.25 pounds for $1.
7:26 solar panels or generac, if the grids is down and it’s 100 degrees outside, and you have energy, remember Obama signed an executive order, where you don’t own nothing. Brass and lead is more valuable than money.
