Biggest problem of all: the frequently imperfect seal on some of the rear cab body joints. To check this after a heavy rain, pull the rear interior area floor plastic up, one at each door and the one that runs down the middle where the rear seat legs snap in when they are down. All three of them just pull up, no screws involved. Next stick your hand under the carpet and fell all around. If it's wet or damp then you have an issue. The carpet is waterproof and you will NEVER know you have a leak unless you check. Eventually the underside will mildew and the truck will stink of mildew if this is not addressed. Dealer may give you the run around since Honda does not reimburse them adequately. My dealer took 30 hours to fix and got reimbursed for two! But Team Gillman Honda North was awesome and fixed my leak. They had to disassemble the bed to get to the seams to re-caulk them. Pro tip, take some colored construction paper and video sticking it under the carpet and changing to a darker color when you take it out wet or damp. That way the service manager will see the problem right away!
My 2010 Ridgeline has none of those problems, except the 'unfixable by Honda' downstream O2 sensor. It's been unfixed twice. It doesn't matter - the Ridgeline is the best vehicle I've ever had.
Mine had the Body Leak in the rear of the cab, Honda fixed it after a couple of tries - I got rid of it because of that, otherwise I never had an issue with my Ridgeline RTL-T. Loved it trade up to a Honda Passport TS
My 2017 Ridgeline transmission needed replaced at 52,500 miles. First noticed the problem at 48,908 miles. Cost me $10000.00 loss in trade in value. The Honda transmission fluid and filter needs replaced every 20,000 miles.
I have a 2018. Great truck in bad weather. Do you owners know about the hood latch recall? Hood could fly up at high speeds. Otherwise no major problems.
Had a 2017 , 2020, ridge line no problems at all , have had my new 2023 a few months with 1,737 miles battery was not holding a charge replaced by dealer under warranty
My 2017 just got back from Honda dealer to correct engine light which resulted in injector change out. Drove for 75 miles then engine light reappeared. Honda shop said injector 1 & 3 were swapped out to correct problem, truck was then driven by shop with computer hooked up and all was good. I picked up truck, drove for 50 miles and light came back on. Now they are suggesting to replace cat converters ($3-$4000).
The fuel leak and O2 sensor problems must only be in US we dont have those bulletins in Canada since im a Honda tech. And timing belt recall was very few in Can.
2017 Ridgeline; Flickering !lights. Took the service tech for a ride and pointed to dome light and he claimed not to see anything wrong. I returned to the stealership with the Service Bulletin and they fixed it by adjusting an alternator screw.
Only problem so far with my '23 is it went into limp mode 6 hrs from home. Turned off, good to go. What the cause is another story. Honda knows limp mode is an issue but have no fix...dealer thinks its condensation buildup after some highway driving and coming to a stop is when it always occurs.
Very informative. Thanks! I've had Toyotas for years. I maintain my cars well and try to keep them for a long time. I'm looking to get a '23 or '24 Ridgeline. Since the J35Y engine is Direct Injection only (My Toyotas have PI & DI.), is there a problem with carbon buildup on the intake valves?
I have a 2017 and.my emissions light came on and I took it to the mechanic and he did a test and it said bac 2 on the converter and he told me to put a bottle of fuel injection cleaner in the tank and drive for about 20 miles and the light will turn off and it did no more problems
had a problem with the walk away locking system not working after the dealer could not find the problem a did my own research took it back to them asked them to check the start stop button and sure enough that was the issue they fixed it under warranty
Iam in Africa, Democratic Republic of Congo, my Honda Ridgeline VIN 5FPYK3F84KB504333 make mention "EMMISSIONS SYSTHEM PROBLEM" What is the solution, please?
+Patrick Welch We wouldn't be able to diagnose an issue like that here, you may want to have a local mechanic take a look at it. Thanks for checking us out! 1aau.to/m/Shop-1AAuto-c
