I didn't realize you put splits with times for each problem till the end. But that is a nice touch and helpful to skip you explanations for people that don't know much about cars.
love all your video's! nice to have educated instructionals /tutorials! The 1st gen Muranos seem to have oil leak issues (oil filter housing, head gaskets, oil pan) It would be nice to hear one touching on these subjects thank you
I have a 2007 Nissan Murano with 213,000 miles and I drive it like a TrackHawk and a couple days ago I did notice my seat not secure like in the first example
Great video! I haven’t had any of these problems yet on my ‘03 with 128,000 miles. The CVT has been fine. The gasket has been giving me problems, but it’s going to cost more to keep up the maintenance at this point. But it’s served me well!
Great video ... but I was expecting the main issue with my Murano was part of the 5 ...like loosing acceleration and power after a while ... very dangerous issue!!
You know your stuff. I have a 2007 Murano and had 2 of these issues. The seat and tailgate. I was lucky that the seat one day slid back on the track itself one day. My car only has 86k miles but it burns oil in the engine. Its a very slow leak because the oil does not go down when I check it and no temp gauges or oil gauges come on. But you can smell the oil burning sometimes really bad. I am sort of used to it by now but every once in a while a little smoke comes out of the engine but no engine lights come on and all fluids or normal. Only keeping it for another year or less though. The biggest issue on these vehicles which should have been a recall is the power steering leak that many/most of these had.
The oil is probably because the valve cover gaskets need to be changed. It is a very easy fix and not very expensive. Breathing those oil fumes is not good for your lungs or for the environment and could cause an engine fire after it builds up on your engine. Get that fixed ASAP.
Wow I just bought a 2007. I came on here to see how to Bluetooth my iPhone ( not seen on the manual) I am so glad I saw this. No issues yet but still can’t find how to connect my phone 😩 Great video!
2005 Murano SL personal experience: The tailgate. I had to cut out several holes after taking the rear bumper off to get some 14mm nuts because there is nothing for those bolts to grab on to. It’s a stupid design. Engine oil line where the rubber hose connects with a metal line is corroded and leaking as well as both camshaft position sensor o rings. The engine cradle frame is rusted out. A/C doesn’t work I had to replace the Bose CD player The gauge cluster squeaks when going over bumps. Oh, and the muffler is completely broken off the tail pipe assembly and there are exhaust leak holes around the catalytic areas. (Grey family owned 2005 Murano: 148,000+KM Silver Nissan Murano I’ve also seen: 235,000KM) I even seen another Murano (silver) with double the mileage and the engine and exhaust were completely shot and plugged up.
The Japanese engines (in the 350 & Murano) did not suffer from faulty upper tensioner wear as did the North American built engine (in Maxima, Frontier, Pathfinders, Xterra, and Altima V6). There are no Bulletins that I know of for Murano and I've never experienced the whining issue related with worn tensioner shoes on a Murano.
I just bought a first generation Murano a week ago and last night it stranded me in middle of the night. It turned out that the transmission was out of fluid but I had checked it the day after I bought it and it was full can you please tell me how it is out of fluid that fast and maybe why. It gave me no idea that something was wrong til it shutdown. Thank you Inez Hill
Thank u it's very usefull for the owners of this car or who intends to, but what about the cvt? and could u do like this video for renault koleos 2011 2.5 petrol if it's found in you country?
bought a new 03 Murano SE AWD...neat car back then...got rid of it, when tranny warranty expired...at that time, they were starting to fail. Thanks....PS...beautiful car, still love it's looks...however...the suspension wore out by 10K...at that time, I guess Renault owned an interest in them..and quality control was suspect, along with design/build flaws. Thanks.
have an 06 one with 206K miles. It has being a good car, very comfy ride, but oil consumption is killing me. Currently burns/leaks 1 and1/4 courts every 1000 miles. Hungry monster. Main issues on this is the valve cover gaskets leak badly, i replaced them once but the issue still persist, this oil i am suspecting actually for killing my alternator too. I replaced the alternator 3 times for 3 years which is a *** to pull out because the radiator and the battery support needs to get out first. I am not feeling spending money on the valve covers because has bunch of other leaks all over so I am thinking about getting that engine out and putting another one in. They are dirt cheap since they put the VQ35DE in millions of cars, i can get one delivered half the miles of mine for 7-800 bucks
Thanks for this kick ass, easy to understand, video! Appreciate the sound effects. I am currently having issues in my 2006 Murano AWD that match the symptoms of a corroded throttle body. Its my only car so I have been working on it myself. Its technically drive-able at low speeds and on relatively flat roads. I live in the mountains where my daily commute has a 3000 ft elevation change. So when i travel up steep hills , she bogs down, RPM rev crazy high, mph drops very low and barely makes it to the top of the grade, and overheats. The Car was cheap, and times are tough, so Im a DIY Auto mechanic. Thanks to youtube. Anyway great video. Keep up the good work.
I bought a brand new onr in 2006. Started having problems with drivers seat in about 2009. The seat became loose , took it to the dealer a few times about that. Otherwise, it was a great truck
Well I own 2005 model, My problems as listed, 1. Loose tailgate, replaced the motor on it, but the hook is eaten out and unmovable for some reason 2. Burns oil like a mf it goes to 1L = 1000 KM 3. Heater problems, and its pretty hard to find a radiator for the coupe to fit in 4. Bad Clima compressor seals 5. Belt noises when i start the car Other problems I got are related mostly to mods that have been done by previous owner. CVT as far as I know it has some issues, but I think mine was replaced or serviced. You can check cars for parts in your region of the same model, most of them will have failed transmission. Car is good for big journeys and a lot of travel, has a lot of space in the backseat and in the trunk, has a really good ground clearance , on the other side has a big gas comsumption if not on LPG, taking sharp corners it feels very unstable, burns a lot of oil (which is unserviceable as far as I know, tried a lot of oil adds for this problem, all seals are changed and no leaks found) , good tyres are really expensive as well. Overall it was really a good car when it came out feels comfortable and luxurious for its time, but now its starts to feel like a piece of junk that its hard to service not because of money cost but the time it needs to spend with car mechanic , which is half of the time I drive it.
Just had ECM replaced by dealership in our 07 Nissan Murano due to P0605 code, but engine won't accelerate barely 5-8mph.. just out allot of money & car still having issues
solid but the real problem on this murano are torque converter becomes really noisy but changing the oil minimize the noise i have a 05 with 145,000 miles
My boyfriend had one and boy are those things pieces of junk. It would hardly go up a steep hill and always cuts power. He got rid of it got a 2015 Toyota Corolla. It drives better, rides better and you can just feel the quality difference on the interior
Sorry about that I must have hit send. Anyway as I was saying check the transmission fluid the oil did not smell burnt it was didn't indicate it needed any. The fluid is light in color not real dark. I then looked around to see if maybe a belt broke, but I believe that would have made it shut down. or then I ended up turning it off tried to start I started it again
I have a 04 Murano it started off great and I have some service records from the previous owner ( family member) But now it’s making a crackling noise upon acceleration, the rpm are stuck at almost 3 when picking up speed and it smokes on the passenger side upon long distance traveling. I just want to junk it but the miles are exceptionally low on it (154,000 ) and there is no check engine light so I’m lost for words with this vehicle
+tootie seckinger We wouldn't be able to diagnose an issue like that here, you may want to have a local mechanic take a look at it. Thanks for checking us out! 1aau.to/m/Shop-1AAuto-c
154K, you need to spend some money and fix it. Check engine lights are only for emission related issues, not oil leaks. If the rattling noise is the convertor it's already to late as the broken catalyst will turn to a grit and enter the engine resulting in oil consumption, though a ck eng light would have surely come on if that were the case
rattling (crackling?) can be the exhaust heat shields cracking, very common issue on Nissan V-6's over 100K. It's normal for any CVT transmission to maintain a constant RPM under acceleration. Have a mechanic check for an oil leak (valve covers) causing smoking.
These muranos have the worst transmissions known to man, the dreaded Nissan CVT (catastrophic vile transmission !) These Nissans should have stuck with a conventional Automatic transaxle instead.
@@rubychavez1325 Check the air intake duct from filter to throttle body. The rubber ducts get very hard and will disconnect. This issue usually happens after an air filter replacement causing the duct to pull off because it is not flexible. Issue is more noticeable upon acceleration as the engine rocks back causing the gap to expand.
I am having the same problems with my Murano 2006...loses power out of nowhere both when going uphill and when its flat..when you press the throttle pedal nothing happens..then it jerks and stalls
Nice that the smaller problems.. now lets Talk the CVT going out and what going into safe mode feels like and how about the Speed sensors and Cam sensors ???... all crap !! in fact every Murano made has been crap with these ongoing problems..
Hi...I have a 2006 Murano that i recently took in because it has a burn smell when i park it. Originally i took it to the dealer because when I drive it in the morning at first start it feels like it's going to stall. After I use it it drives fine. The car has 116k miles on it. No oil on the floor. I was told it has a torque converter seal leak, oil pan and gasket leaking and possibly power steering rack leak. I know it's an old car but i can't afford a car payment right now. Can the car be driven with these issues as long as the fluids are checked? Any advice is appreciated... thank you.
I have one of these (a 2006). I have had the seat track failure, but none of the others. Other common ones I think are left out here: - CVT failure (has not happened to me, thankfully) - Fuel sending unit failure (gas gauge quits working, have to pull the fuel pump/sender unit out of the gas tank from inside the car... very difficult job to do at home) Except for the CVT, all of these problems are reasonable fixes for what is now about a 15-year-old car. If the car is solid otherwise, you are way ahead keeping it on the road. HOWEVER... a CVT failure is about a $4000 job these days, and probably sends the car to the junk yard.
At the end of your video, "Top 5 Problems...", you state to use the comments section for other issues, question or concerns. My concern is with my 2006 Nissan Murano. It has recently left me stranded on an extremely hot day. (Extreme heat may or may not be relevant). I began driving when, without any warning of any kind, my Murano stopped accelerating coasting to a stop. Engine was still running smooth, but would not move forward or in reverse. Check engine light did not come on, nor were there any other warning lights on of any kind. Nothing indicating there was a problem. I had just left my house and had only driven a block when this happened. I put it in park & raised the hood to check the transmission fluid while it was still running.
My alternator went out at same time caused battery to die got stranded on highway barely able to pull over loss of all control but got new alt & battery and fixed it also needed new connectors
Have a 2007 nissan murano AWD and there is a slight high pitch sound that's changing with the RPM of the motor and stays in second gear and also the motor rev's at 4000 RPM at 100 Kilometer Per Hour and does not go into drive. Whats up with this?
So I had a friend she took her Murano into Firestone because the hose keeps falling off well they had it twice and the hose keeps falling off would you happen to know the issue I was told the hose clamps are on backwards
my 2006 Murano. i changed Crankshaft sensor & Camshaft sensor & temperature sensor and Vias control Solenoid Valve .but Still sometime after runn like two hours normally. then in the traffic jam or moving very slowly the Engine stopped. to restart again need at least 10 min . ?
i have a 2004 Nissan Murano and Im having a problem with enough power going to the crankability of the car. Also, throughout a days driving, turning the corner to get home, I lose acceleration and the car idles as if the car is in park yet it will accelerate as if you take your foot off the brake to roll into acceleration. Do you have any suggestions about how to correct the imperfections?

I have a 2004 Nissan Murano. After driving it for about 20 to 30 minutes I have a issue. When I am stopped at a red light, then the light turns green, I step on the gas to go but for about 3 to 5 seconds the engine does not go. The RPMs don't move either. Just nothing. Then it takes off like the gas is rushing the the engine. What can my problem be?
can you post a link to Nissans updated parts for this car? every single issue is what I'm having I'm about to replace throttle body and everything listed.
5/23 just bought a n 06 and when I go to start I have to set the choke to start it will start. Just get in and go, have to start 2x and starts is that a problem? I had it a month thanks Kevin
Have a 2005 nissan murano .When I turn car own the brake light and battery lights stay own.after driving for a couple off seconds lights go off .What could it be.

06 Nissan Murano SE 60,000 miles just developed a vibration when AC is on seems as if rpm’s are raising the higher the fan is on but not 100% sure of that. Does this sound like an ac problem or possibly something as simple as old belts? Thanks in advance. Brian
My 06 Murano keeps acting like it has no power. The catalytic converter was stopped up and I fixed it but it is still doing it. Does this have something to do with the transmission? If not what could this be? I am at a loss right now
I have a question. I have an 04 model. I went to take to get serviced and parked it on the road. They rung 10 minutes later saying it wouldn’t drive forward or reverse. It could start fine but thats about it. It couldnt even rev. Would that be a transmission problem?
I was gift nissan murano sl awd 07 3.5l v6 with the annoying cvt Trans but it will not move it has burn smelling Trans fluid that's about it I was thinking might be stepper motor but I'm a gm guy any help would be awesome
Looking at a 2004 SL with 180000 miles. The dealer is replacing the head gasket and they want $3995 for the car. Should I walk away or would this be a good deal? Thanks for the vid!
Good day, so i own a 09 murano awd, and recently the car as driving the stability control light starts flashing and the car sorta lacks acceleration, took to shop supposedly code c1204 came up. Any idea on cost of parts? Or whats parts to replace?
Len, I think you're misleading people a bit on the throttle body. My understanding is that most people who aren't jamming the heck out of the butterfly valve can do a simple throttle relearn process on it, which they also need to do on a new tb assembly. www.nissanhelp.com/diy/murano/projects/nissan_murano_idle_air_volume_learning.php Prob a good idea to take a pic with your phone before starting, or measure the distance the top of the butterfly valve is from the side. Clean, slightly move the bf valve, clean some more, move it back into position. Still have to relearn most likely, however should be close. Aside the transmission which Nissan replaced at 116K under extended warranty, the only other problem has been cam position sensors, which are a cheap and easy fix, and it likes going through front rotors. Also burning close to 1L oil every 1200-1300 miles at 156K miles now. Just had the drivers window die on me, but if it doesn't have any other major failures I am liking the no car payments for the past 10 years and will drive it into the dirt. Will NOT be buying a Nissan again. At this point, not sure if Nissan is as bad/good as Mitsubishi.
Most oil consumption issues are due to catalytic convertor failure resulting in a fine dust from the catalyst entering the engine cause cylinder/piston ring wear
Hello, great vid tips and things to look for. I've a simple question, how often should I change the motor oil? Noticed my 07 Murano AWD was very low on oil after six months from the last oil change, is that normal, or was I just a bad boy? Also, exactly how many quarts should I use with or without the oil filter? answers in google varied from 4.5 to 5 to 4. Your help would be appreciated. BTW, one common issue with these cars it's the blower fuse, I figured out how to replace it without removing the circuit board, very easy :).
I have a problem with my Nissan Murano if l start and move to some time if engine get hot and when i stop and wanted to move it take some second's before it move I don't know why I need someone to help me please thanks
