@@nestormarte817 some countries dont allow cutting the tail.... the tails were cut back in the days, but people are going natural but I love the cut tail look honestly.
Mine was very like this, died last year but kept him very lean all his life you don't really know quite how athletic they're if you keep them in good condition.
@Mike Lee Sorry to hear about your pup my friend. It’s absolutely terrible losing a K9 and it will never get better regardless of what people say. The positive, and maybe the only good thing out of this, is that you’re obviously an awesome dog owner and will take what you’ve been through to pay it forward. 👍
I have two brothers, both ol' southern whites, and they are truly amazing. They can jump the width of my truck and run 15 miles. They have stopped three different dogs, from attacking me. Won't let any boy, rough house with my daughter. Once, they stopped a man, climbing into window, while my family was sleeping. Natural protectors and true tender warriors.
@Tete Recinos Thank you. Kenia’s a solid 97lb... you’d love him and his athleticism is truly functional. He’s a testament as to responsible breeders whom respectfully appreciate every trait.
My mom's family bred Airedales. Which is another large terrier. Just like the Schnauzer the breed is written off as a foofoo dog. My families Airedales protected the ranch from bears, wolves, and rattlesnakes. They had a stud who was immune to rattlesnake venom because he had been bit so many times. They were tough as hell yet great with the family. They were also great at keeping the rats out of the horse feed.
You’re right! As far as I’m aware they are bred from the German pincher in Bavaria with long hair to stand the cold weather. They are super smart and great guard/working dogs!
Faye Cummings I agree 100%. I have a female Rottie right now who is almost 8 mos. and she is everything you just said. They are the best breed hands down.!
@@demi2631 That's true.... but they're strong enough. I own a Dogue de bourdeaux also, who's much stronger than my Rotti, and while I love all my dogs, the Rottweiler as a breed has superior independent problem solving ability than many breeds much stronger than it (second only to German Shepherds) and that's the trade off I guess, to absolute strength. The Rottweiler has the best overall strengths with a strong personality.
Samantha Higgins Not really true.American Pitbull Terriers are naturally human friendly.Although they CAN do protection work,it doesnt mean you should. If youre looking for a protection dog, dont get an APBT.Dont corrupt the human-friendly nature of the APBT.
Ur opinion is really meaningless as compare these 2 breeds with German shepherds. I have been keeping GSD more than any breed. Once I fell in love with rott and dobbies I have seen how they can single handedly take down an adult human
May you please do some videos on service dogs? The type that help people with disabilities. It would be great to see your take on them. You are a dog channel after all...
@@TeteRecinos coming home from work late, had my dog with me, he was sleeping in back seat of the car, as i got into front seat to drive home, this guy blocked me from closing the car door, he was trying to shove me over into the passenger seat, he put his right hand on my shoulder, he was blocking the door with his body, my dog never barked or growled a warning, i was worried, but in a second of and instant, that guy let out a scream sounding like a woman, my dog got hold of his upper right arm, and i could hear a bone crunch, because of the high back seats dog, Prince couldn't hold him long, as his nose was between the front seat and window, the guy ran down an alley, Prince ran after him, and came back with the guys red plaid shirt in his mouth. I was so thankful to have my dog with me that night, we went in letting the people know about what happened, they had people to walk us out after that, a yellow bug Volkswagen that was parked next to my 69 T bird in the parking lot was gone, as it turns out it was that Bundy guy, since police back then didn't know what was going on between the different states, not many people knew about him even being around. He must have high tailed it out of my state, but still managed to go down to FL and kill 3 more girls, he wore a cast on his upper right arm, telling people a dog bit him, wish my dog would have got his throat instead of his arm.
Somewhat predictable. For me I would put the Fila Brasileiro very near the top of that list, very impressive dogs when it comes to protection, and the Dogo Argentino also.
I think hes focusing on dogs that won't be to difficult for a normal person 2 come across... Or we could just through in a Tibetan mastiff and that quickly gets expensive and out of reach
Please do an episode on the Scott/performance American bulldog. Clearly one of the most robust rustic highly adaptable working breeds that I feel hasn’t been covered..
My favorite breed! Never seen more power athleticism and tenacity in a package. Pitts are the only dog that match them in my opinion just a much smaller package! I have 3 and can’t own anything else but love them all!
I’m a few months into doing bitework with my young Beauceron and it’s definitely a challenge. Their slow maturing really means you have to go at their pace but when she gets it right, yeah you damn well know about it haha. they’re crazy powerful and athletic. Can’t wait for her to be fully matured and then she’ll be a force
Can you do another video on the Boerboel. I'd like to hear more. I just purchased one and she's great I just want to make sure I'm taking the right steps with her. Thanks and the best dog channel hands down.
Deshaud Brown I have a male , 3 yrs old , my first Boerboel after always owning GSD . Has never been on a chain , never in a kennel and we are fortunate to live in a wooded area , great to allow him off leash when we walk or hike . From what I have learned , this breed truly thrives being with family , a true part of our family dynamic . They say this breed has a sixth sense when it comes to knowing what their humans are thinking . This is a true statement . We noticed early on at even 8 weeks of age he would watch us , even when he didn’t know we were observing him . With side glances , through windows , when he would run ahead in the woods , he would often look back , while he pretended to be occupied with bones or toys he always had an eye on us . He learned so many words , signals with hands , tone of voices that he is very in tuned with us . Highly intelligent , protective without the aggression , and a few times with enough aggression for coyotes , Black bear etc.I have learned so much more even after owning dogs my entire life of over 40 some years thinking I knew it all . Good luck with your female .
BBBYpsi True, but I think Oscar thinks more about the sport and not real protection situations, and for sports those livestock guardians are not well suited
I know! They are fiercely loyal. I have a Tibetan mastiff which is in the same family as the ovcharka and it’s extremely powerful, territorial and just would not back down in the face of a threat. It’s great with people although can be very strong willed
@@StarLordIRL Even though they are called "Central Asian shepherd dog" or "Caucasian shepherd" it doesn't mean that they are actually shepherd dogs, they are in fact livestock guardian dogs. Pretty big difference in their task and traits.
No Dogo Argentino, i am surprised. They're one tough & intelligent breed, great for protrction. Headstrong seems a common quality one looks for in a guard dog.
Great list and nice video! I would like to know how well Boerboels and Filas Brasileiros do on that job! Not the competitions, i mean, but actual personal protection. Also, can (or should) English Mastiffs be used for that?
Great dogs, really unmatched in the guarding world if you ask me. As an all round dog Rotties are great for everything, I have a Cane Corso at the moment who is great but I'm absolutely returning to Rotties next.
I think he left shepards out on purpose for the reason that half the population all ready holds shepard breeds as top. He just didn't clarify his reasoning.
I exactly agree with u. These dogs are the best guard dogs. But u haven't included bullmastiff and American pitbull. Westerners say they are not good guard dogs but here in Pakistan they are used as perfect guard dogs
I’m always surprised that the Bullmastiff isn’t named in any of these videos...they were good enough to guard big estates back in the day and our usually heftier than Cane Corsos
My most wonderful dog ever was a Pit Mastiff. She was fearless, loyal and an amazing protector. A beast to others outside my home but a big baby to us ♥️
James Williams they do well in protection . Be they are better catch dogs. I would have put a different dog at number 5 though . But American bulldogs are legit non the less. I have a Dogo puppy myself. They have a natural protective instinct for sure. So far he is very trainable . It always depends on your breeder though. I’m hopeful he will do well in protection work as he matures . I think they may be better than a American bulldog though at protection .
In my experience the Cane Corso is to weak and the presa to happy and Rottie and Dobberman you must train to protect. With my long experience i chose Fila Braziliero, neapolitan mastiff maybe boerboel for serious natural protection.
Didn't even realy train my doberman and she walks glued to my side watching everyone passing me, she even protected me from some base head trying to fight. He lunged at me and she locked her jaws on his arm, I whistled and she let go and he ran off l, they love their masters fiercely I don't think I've ever had a more loyal dog
What I as a future dog owner would love to know is how do you find and pick a good dog? My favorite dog breeds for my family also come with crazy stigmas that are so unfair. I've seen bad apples in every breed. Id love a video on what to look for in a pup or breeder and so on. And maybe what to run from?
What I was told, and what I did, was to find a litter and sit with them. All the puppies, will chime and play with you. As the puppies tire, they will walk off and go to sleep. The one that starts with you, is matched to your energy level. Don't try and pick one because the dog will actually pick you. I went everyday and by the third day, my American Bulldog, had picked me.
Boerboel over all of these breeds stonger than every breed mentioned here and the most agile of mastiffs, massive pain threshold will protect you with its life bred for harsh african terrain super loyal.
Thanks Dogumentary TV. I am glad I could find your channel when my obsession for dogs started few years ago ! Quality video and relevant content as always ! 👍
That’s cool they are all badass maybe I’m a little biased. I’m into the working line American Bulldog and just impressed with their physical abilities more a Gladiator type dog but would agree some dogs have better natural instincts for natural protection
Doberman! Super smart and trainable, super fast and agile, extremely alert and loyal, with amazing REAL world protective instincts. That’s what they were bred for. Mine guards my recording studio and takes the job very seriously. As for bite force, let me say that if you were an intruder and my Dobe bit you on any limb, you’d never be the same after. I’ll never own any other breed, my Doberman exceeds every expectation I’ve ever had for a dog.
He obviously knows nothing about Shar pei... Ours was 65 pounds and would go from one window to the next looking for Intruders and never stopped... He's a legend in this house with all our vendors that would come and go as well as the pizza guy... He was awesome to watch... The catwalk was his hang out place because he could see down our whole street at night...a great protector for certain
I previously had a corso who was a protective and medic alert house hippo 😍 since she passed , I've gotten a rottweiler. Shes still a baby at the moment, but has managed to slip a disc in my back during training 😂. Shes gonna be a brick wall for protection.
I'm wanting to agree with your 5 pics. Each one will ruin a bad guys day should he choose to try and enter a home, or hurt someone on the street.your # 1... WOULD be mine as well. I love rottis. For the record.... I don't have any of the 5. I have a white lab and a smaller lack dog which I don't know what he is ...... I rescued him... some type of terrier I believe. No .... not a pit. But they both have protection qualities. Funny, you don't think of a lab like that but she's amazing. God bless my friend!
Well said on the Cane Corso best dam dog .my male is 140 lb and I am 6-3 my dog can jump to my face while I stand my female can reach over my head she is 120 lb.They are very fast dogs.no hair problems shedding all over ,very little slobber.and great with the house hold.
I have a PresaxAPBT and wondering if she's too old to start protection training? She's just turned 3 and she's a rescue. Also, what age are protection dogs in their primes and what age are they too old? Hope someone can help answer these questions 🙏
Lol dogo argentino is better than all the dogs on the list except for Doberman plus they have a heart as compared to.rottweiler which will back off when painfully hurt. I have worked.with all the breeds in my farm.
He's never worked with the dobermann long enough or has worked with a real European dobermann. High intelligence and incredible size and power for me it's European dobermann then rottwieler and GSD
