Wow I was waking up with very stiff hips and pain. I used to sleep on my left side but had to stop due to pain on both hips so I started to sleep on my back which was better. However, just putting the pillow under legs while sleeping on my back made a world of a difference. I slept better pain free and woke up pain free and the hips were not stiffed the first time I made this change with the pillow. I can't thank you enough for this tip...I worked with 4 different PT of which 2 were Doctor Of PT and not one of them asked me about my sleeping position.

Thanks again for the tips. I don't have hip/knee pain until I gotta get up for the bathroom. I do sleep with a square pillow, not like the one for the head-think its getting flat. I do also have the one that keeps thighs in place. I can sleep longer on my back with a big thick body pillow under legs near knee & lower leg area (used re swelling of ankles). I get up with paid after sleeping. Not sure why. Thanks for any feedback

Hi there, I watch your program and really like the way you explain things. A week and a half ago, I did a slip and fall. My arms were flailing as I was trying not to fall. When I hit the ground my body was contorted and my hands hit the ground. It was shocking hitting so hard and my right side of my hip hit something hard on the ground. I messed up both shoulder joints and am having problems with walking and in great pain and it's hard to walk. Have lost range of motion in both shoulder joints and seems I pulled muscles all over as well. Haven't been to the doctor yet, just have been trying to rest and heal myself. Any ideas of physical therapy to help get my range of motion back? I'm 76 and am a pretty tough person, but the severe pain is really getting me down.😢 Kathleen

I am not PT, but I am 75 in pain also after having a bad fall. I advise you to see the doctor to make sure you did not suffer any fracture or torn ligaments. Movement and exercise help but it will not heal anything broken. Let doctor make an evaluation of your condition first and give you specific exercise for rehabilitation. You can always watch this channel as a supplemental source. Sorry you are hurting. Get better soon. Best wishes.

Would substituting 'hip' with knee be a valid assumption?
@mikearchambeau5640
@mikearchambeau5640 Месяц назад
Yes… the general principles expressed in this video would be valid regarding almost any orthopedic/s 8:58 8:58 oft tissue pain one experiences. However, that does not mean that one should ignore such pain episodes. Always seek a consult with a physician to RULE OUT a potentially more serious process that may be involved in causing your pain. I know such a consultation may add to the cost of one’s healthcare, but the adage “it’s better to be safe than sorry“ holds true in such situations. After the Physician rules out the unlikely but more serious possible causes, the MD/DO can refer you to a physical therapist for treatment to address the likely causes of your pain episodes. I always told my patients (I was a physical therapist in private practice for over 30 years) to make sure their physician and physical therapist are working together to share pertinent information about the patient’s condition and progress; otherwise, the patient is not receiving the best possible care. Good luck with your knee!

My hips in the night is a really bad, right side worse than the left but the the pain in my groin is the worst ever it just feels like it’s on fire and the only thing the doctor says is yes it’s from the hip but I don’t understand why I get this pain that goes all the way to my pelvic bone is there anything I can do about it? Thank you.

Google psoas - these long muscles attaching your spine to pelvic bones. They get tight if we sit too long and stress of bring in pain make them even tighter. Watch this doctor’s videos about gentle hip exercises … try lying on the floor and resting your legs against the wall. Get to know your body. Try heating pad and an ice pack and see what is helping. Sorry you are hurting. Me too. I am 75. Gentle yoga helps me. Best wishes.
