@@OutofWORKoutdoors @OutOfWork Outdoors so actually, I took my boy out this morning and took your advice. Made a plan, rigged up four rods,( a topwater, a senko, a stand-up shaky Head with a hollow-body craw, and a lunkerhunt finesse craw with the nedhead. ) essentially I would do a series of casts with one technique for the particular bait I was casting, and then if I got no bites I would switch the technique with that particular bait,. And once I'd exhausted all the techniques and retrieves that I knew for that particular bait, I would switch to the next rod and style of bait. if I wasn't getting a bite, I would move about 30 feet down the bank or wherever the closest spot that looked like it might house bass. Then I got a fish! On blackaxx, with lightening rod medium; fast. On a shaky head stand up jig with a hollow body craw. (3/8 oz weedless, craw was hooked through tail out hollow part of mouth which allowed the craw to stand claws up, and also have a BUNCH of wiggle on the hook. ) When I got the fish, I stayed there longer. It was a pretty prime spot I think, nice big Shadow off of a bank, right at the drop off, with rock structure in water. so after a few more casts and no bikes, I did move, as I assumed there was no more bass. That was probably the big one in the area. So I really appreciate the tips and we'll definitely be keeping an eye out for more videos in the future!

I literally try every thing, this morning I went to a bay on Lake Ontario and I had to have seen like 100 fish jumping and being active so I knew there were fish there and I tried everything like soft plastics jerkbaits cranks spinners spoons and I was walking all the way up and down the bank and didn’t even get a bite after fishing from 6-9:30 AM. what can you do in this situation because I spend countless hours fishing and just can’t catch anything unless I’m panfishing with a worm witch doesn’t take much skill. It wasn’t just this time either I go fishing a couple times a week and catch quite literally nothing.

The things ive experienced from fishing on the jetties was. 1)if you have people all around you use live shrimp/mullet and you use artificials. They will get the fish first than you and if theres only a few fish thats coming you better load up on live bait. 2)every little thing eventually improves your chance on catching fish from how you do your line, rig and setup. 3)know the good spots and learn forecasting 4)always research and have the gear available just in case you need to change it 5)be open to learning new things

focus on the edges of the grass or holes. The Senko worm is hard to beat if you fishing around docks. There are many ways to rig it too. Texas and Wacky are to more common ways but be creative.

I’ve been going out every weekend. With gas the way it is I go to the reservoir by my house. Not a bad one. Just like to say fish are jumping when I cast out o get absolutely zip, changing lures, mostly because others get messed up and so I have to cut and retie anyway. And I’ve gotten not one bite. Idk if it’s the rigs, or what. But I just broke a rod today.. there goes another 80 because I need at least two spinning. I tune my bait caster, birds nest. And no matter what technique. It flies and ends up birds nesting anyway. This is why I hunt and not fish. Today was probably my worst day, and a typical cuz not even a bite. Amd I’m getting reall really frustrated.

We use to tie off that clay barge an fish Chinook salmon 40-70+lbs (I'm not kidding) off the concrete wall on West side is deep hole, we know have huge surgeon hole (over 6ft have to release)! One day, George in next boat, up in bow peeing in bucket! Dad yells, 'Fish on George"! George says, yeah right an looks back to see his pole bouncing off transom! George jumps up, through anchor line into our boat an drift down river, tiring the huge salmon out enough to bring him on board! George motors back up steam to reset in our hog line an dad yells out to George, Yeah George, look down! George looks down to see his manhood hanging out for whole river to see! I never saw anyone turn red so fast! Ed, another of dad's friends Navy signalman taped out Morse Code an if I didn't get it right he hit me in shoulder. Another friend, Oscar, had a pet doe deer that lived with him, slept in his bed, an I spend many hrs playing with that deer! Remember huge strike from salmon holding pole in one hand while doing school homework in other hand! Good Times! Tim

Catch and release man smh. Imagine if every angler took home the fish they caught? You'd be making a video about you sucking and not catching fish. If you want fish go to h-e-b and buy some. I want my kids kids experiencing the thrill of catching their PB. Conservation man
@OutofWORKoutdoors
@OutofWORKoutdoors 5 лет назад
its true that conservation can help with PB's. We have a friend that use to work for the Wild life department and is now retired. He has always told me that if you want to grow a big fish...you need to take out all the little fish and the medium fish. If you release everything, you will end up with a situation where there is too many mouths to feed and not enough good. Then the main population of fish you are trying to grow will decline. That is why we have trophy lakes and normal lake where the regulations are different between each body of water. I have fished Lake Fork before, I caught my Texas personal best from there too. But dang there like a million 12 inches for every 25 inch fish. Also, eating fish you catch is much much more inexpensive compared to the store bought. At 5.99 a pound, most people will likely look at you like you are crazy if you release a 3 pound bass. But as tournament fishermen, we release every thing even if it's deep gut hooked and bleeding out. This fish has a very little chance of surviving the next 48 hours. In the end, conservation starts with regulations.

You gotta take this info with a grain of salt...Having confidence in what you're doing and having a game plan is a good idea but man, using the example of throwing a crankbait for a little bit and not catching anything doesn't mean the fish don't want a crankbait that day. Can't tell you how many times I've switched from a floating shallow running crankbait to a deep water or suspending crankbait or changed size/color or retrieve style and went from no fish to a limit with just simple changes. With crankbaits try to "Match the hatch" Match similar size and colors to what kind of bait fish are in your lake. Moving around a lot is a good thing? What about when fish aren't active? Sometimes you need to go to crawl speeds and abandon reaction baits and go to ned rig bait styles and just drag for those inactive fish. I primarily fish bass so that's what I'm referencing. Every day is different, my best tip if you're new to fishing is to just keep trying, watch videos especially tactical basin's channel. They show you how to fish just about every bait for every time of the year in every type of situation. This video is such a blanket statement on fishing and should be viewed as such. I've got 35 years of bass fishing experience and 20 years in tournaments and am still learning every time I go out on the water which is twice a week. Just like humans fish can differ day to day so educating yourself with videos on baits and times of the year and how the fish react to that time of the year will land you more fish instead of just trying to throw a line in the water, changing baits every 20 minutes and driving to new spots every 20 minutes. If you want more success catching fish go subscribe to tactical bassin's channel and check out their videos. Educate yourself instead of throwing everything in your tackle box, I think you may have better luck like that.

This video blanket statement for all anglers. Change your bait of change your location is the main point of this video. Different baits require different ways of presentation and retrieves. On blue bird days, most people would think fish slow with a worm or small jig. While some other people start stroking jigs and get reaction bites. Any then there the guys that will drop everything and start throwing slowing sinking jerk baits in the middle of summer. But you do have some good points here about baits. This video is more of the mental side of fishing. You being a veteran of the sport, you probably have 20 rods, lots of lures and fairly nice boat. Most of our viewers might only have 2 rods and maybe 5 lures types. In my experience, on any given day, covering water is always more consistent. Don't get me wrong, i don't throw crank baits to cover water all the time. On those hard days i lean towards a small swimbaits and NEDs but i still cover about the same amount of water as a regular day. Hope that clears up some things. -konerri

I’m wondering what I’m doing wrong I fish the same spot as a guy using the same ned rig on the same 6lb mono line (Trilene lo-vis XT). I tried all kinds of retrievals and can’t get a single bite, the guy next to me catching 10+ bass. He was there for an hour and I’ve been there for 3. (I tried a few spots before that specific spot). I also use a Palomar and Uni Knot I know that I really suck at fishing (like bottom 10% at least) and I get out-fished by first-time, beginner fisherman. I learn new tips and tricks and can’t catch anything. I don’t know what I’m doing wrong
@melonboi186

I tried fishing for three days straight and I caught nothing, I’m not bass fishing like literally every single person Anyone can think of, I am fishing for fluke and bluefish, and my bait only disappeared a couple of times, and one time I actually got a big bite from a big keeper and I pulled up on the rod and reeled in and obviously it got away, today nip went fishing and I used every lure and every bait I had and not even a single nibble, fishing is for RU-vidrs who get everything they want, fishing is pointless because only the RU-vidrs get fish because they always get what they want, so I feel as it is just a waste of time

Seriously, I've fished with many people from many walks of life. Some of my buddies I have concluded they will never get fishing down to the point of ok. They are just too slow and don't care enough by personality or design. For these, I don't tell them anything until they beg me, then I show them one thing only at a time. For example, my big white buddy be reeling in swimbait too fast....so I tell him to slow down. When he does, he gets hung up and gets mad at me. Another example is I tell him to cast across next to the rail. He throws it over the rail so I joking made a comment. He blames me. I had to tell him, I told you to cast next to the rail, not over the rail. It's kinda like those people you teach a simple knot to and they can never understand it, but they love fishing.

So much time spent trying to learn off the water, money spent on gear, gas getting to and from, and time on the water-- yielding painfully little. While in general, these tips are good BUT some apply best to tournament fishing. For instance, you can't always fish to your strengths if you want to learn new methods. You've gotta regress before you can have progress. And in my opinion, the most versatile fishermen are generally the best fishermen.

Great video! I use the Palomar knot on pretty much all my various lines and I use either P Line or Berkley Lines. What are your thoughts on the Palomar? Should I change and if so why? I also use snaps on all of my lines instead of tying straight to the lure or baits. Any thoughts on that as well? I appreciate you answering my question if you have time to do so. Have a great day.
@OutofWORKoutdoors
@OutofWORKoutdoors 5 лет назад
the Palomar knot is the first knot I usually recommend to every new angler because its easy to tie. Palomar is to be avoided on fluorocarbon lines. There are many people including myself that have broken fluorocaron lines at half strength with palomar. but it is great on all other lines, just don't pull it down too tight because the line tends to cut itself by design. Leave a 1/4 tag and you should be OK. I personally avoid snaps at all cost because in my eyes its just another piece of equipment to carry and stock. I've also had snaps open up on me. There is only one snap that i do use and it is made by tactical anglers clips amzn.to/2MBE8ur.

I use the double eugene bend on everything. I only use braid and carbon now, but it has worked for me on everything i use. It is the knot to use on carbon. On point, excellent tips! Often anglers fish too slow - literally. At least in water that is not cold. Baitfish don't take their sweet old time escaping predators. When I was a kid we'd often make a bad cast, rip the lure in fast to make another cast -- and catch a fish! Didn't put 2 and 2 together back then. And when something *does* work -- trust the system. I've often said that -- just prior to getting a nice one. I've done knot testing using free weights, and a lot depends upon what one is doing. Musky fishing has odd situations, such as line that is much thicker than the snap or vice-versa, which calls for different knots than the usual. Hard to pass a 12 inch lure through a loop to tie a Palomar knot. What has done the best with big differences between the eye thickness and line thickness are variants of the Jansik special.

Some of this stuff he is saying really is not true... fishing too FAST is normally the issue. You need to slow down and concentrate on say a 200yd stretch if you’ve already found a consistent pattern.
@OutofWORKoutdoors
@OutofWORKoutdoors 5 лет назад
yes once you find a good area. But first you must fish fast. Fishing fast does mean you fish your lures fast. Fishing fast but making the quick decision to go the next lure or location. You must fish the lures as they are intended. jigs = slow, jerkbait = fast.
@leroyusa935

Over the past two seasons and after a long hiatus from fishing (2.5 decades) fishing can be an entire relearning process. The soft plastics have really revolutionized the fishing industry. One thing I've noticed when fishing with my older experienced cousin is that your personal best catch locations for black bass seldom repeats itself. Black bass are terrartorial and if you do catch one at that location it doesn't mean that another nice size bass will be occupying that good spot in the future. Black bass are very picky and the lures you chose don't always work consistently. Having more than three or four rods with different types of lures saves time. I also don't like using the same type of lure as my cousin. Variety is the key and once you have noticed a trend, then fishing with the same setup will get those bites going. The same for the colors of your lures you choose holds true. I totally agree with you to stay away from the really expensive tackle, such as rods and reels. Focus on spending your money on diversification, variety, pratical reliabilty and maintenance costs. Newer doesn't always mean that it will make you automatically a better angler. Learn fishing techniques from a tried and true scientific level rather than the latest hot trends. Marketing catches naive and gullible fishermen, not fish. All I want out of fishing is to enjoy this hobby and to look forward to a cherished or memorable photo opportunity day for my scrapbook.
@OutofWORKoutdoors
@OutofWORKoutdoors 5 лет назад
well said. newer technologies will deliver unique materials that may be lighter then ever. So don't always look away. But like you said, there are tired and true lures and equipment that will work. Example of this for us the black 10 inch worm, it worked 10 years ago and still works today. Glad i helped out a little. Thanks for the detailed response. I am sure many of the viewers will appreciated your response.

Step 1 is usually to learn your electronics and USE them. If there's nothing there, throwing a bait at empty water is obviously futile. You don't necessarily have to see the fish you intend to catch, but there should be bait in the area. No bait- = no fish.
@OutofWORKoutdoors

Your own mind is your worst enemy or your best friend (learn how to control it!) Tournament time is the time for knowing, not learning.
