Seeing as how my number 1 remote starter problem video was so popular i decided to cover some of the other most common problems and hopefully help some more people out. If you have any recommendations leave a comment below.
Thanks! After watching your video I got my remote start working again in a few seconds. It was -25 C here this morning so I really appreciate that you posted this video.
THANK YOU! THANK YOU! THANK YOU!! Reason # 3 was my issue and it worked!! Saved my ass for real!! (was installing on my car, and couldn’t get it to start)
Thank you so much. I went to the place where they installed a SILENCER 56SL in my 2012 JETTA. UNFORTUNATELY THE TECH WAS GONE. THIS FIX SAVED WORKED. I WAS GETTING A FAIL ON START . THIS WORKED ON THE FIRST TRY.
thanks I have the compustart one and you describe my problem, had put in when truck new,,Now when cold it just won t give it long enough crank to start so I going out to try what you showed...hope it works,
$321.62 dollars later... new battery installed! Problem still existed! This video solved the problem the tach needed to be reprogram! The engine kept starting and shutting down...ran my battery dead! My “Guy” solution was to replace the battery! Problem still existed! This video solved the problem: Start the car with the key! Hold foot on brake peddle! Push button on remote! (Parking lights might flash) Turn off car with key Restart with remote REMOTE START NOW WORKS! Thank you for your VIDEO! I like the way you think! Keep making Utube videos! ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️👍
Holy f**k, Ross B. You just helped me solved my biggest problem... #3, Tac. I hope you put out more videos of how to diagnose and fix common car problems.
I recommend not bypassing the hood pin. A way to make them last longer is spray the hood pin with Fluid Film and fill the spade connector with dielectric grease. Hope that helps people.
my compustar works in the afternoon just fine but in the mornings in the winter it recieves the signal doesnt start and lights and horn go off once winters can easily get to -30 C here would this be a tach thing?
Hi. Maybe you can help me. Installed a an Avital 2-way through a certified installer in a 2006 Honda Accord. Sometimes it would start. Other times it would start cranking but would not start, leaving car on, draining battery. The certified installer removed the Avital and installed a Excalibur. Same thing. And I had to get my car towed to mechanic. The mechanic is saying there’s nothing wrong with my starter, battery, or charging system. That it has something to do with remote start installation. Certified installer says he has been doing this for years and that he even installed 2 types, which leads him to believe it’s something with the car. My car is in good condition. No problems. But I do have a blaupunkt apple CarPlay stereo installed. No sure if that has anything to do with it. Do you have any suggestions? Thanks for any input. Appreciated !
I have a 2006 Lexus IS 250 and I having issues with my remote starter , problem is It sometimes works and it sometimes doesn’t. I have taken the car to three different shops that have tried to install a remote starter and every time they install the starter I have the same issue this last installer has somehow gotten the car to work more often than none, but still it’s doing the same thing, I was told by someone I know that possibly they could solder of the key fob brain into my car or possibly the cable from the starter to the positive of the battery could have some issue, but then again, the car starts fine when I press the push button, could you think of anything else that could probably fix the problem? Thanks
I would like to add a new problem to your list. We have a Dodge Journey, and the remote start will not work if you are low on fuel! Now I am not sure on the exact level, but anywhere under 1/4 tank of fuel will disable the remote start option.
Bought 2005 Ford Freestyle, remote worked up till last frigid spell. After pushing remote start and car not starting I went and started it by key in ignition. When I shut it off, the engine krpt running! I finally got car off by playing with buttons and moving the shifter. Finally shut off . What causes this and how do I fix it
You can reprogram by turning your key to the on position five times. Turn the key to on you will hear the fuel pump kick in. Turn the key to off and do that four more times. Hit the remote start button and the car should start.
@@cvsdvd1 i have a PTS as well, did you try it ? Any luck? Hoping it works the same and this solves my issue because atm the auto start only seems to work when im inside the car, seemingly because the cars fob is picked up as being present…
After watching Spare Parts video, I now know that my car has #3 problem (while driving I hear lick lick lick...). I reset like you said. The car does not lick anymore, but after auto start 3 times, the stater is bad again. (I have change 3 new starters already). Is it the Flywheel's problem or the starter's??? (I will remove the start if it is the problem)....Thanks...
My one way remote start has to be held for 2-3 seconds and the remote light will flutter. My car picks up the signal but the tail lights simply flash once, twice, and than nothing happens. The remote start work once only whenever I purchased the car. Never been able to get it to work since
It is illegal now to not have a Hood pin connected There are several Law suits going on , where a Mechanic has lost fingers while removing the fan to install a water pump. One of the people in the service dept. was putting the keys on the board and accidently pressed the start button. Some installers do not install the safety features . I myself had my car start when my hood pin failed. My keys were in my pocket just like when your phone butt dials . I was lucky. Some other safety features there are that installers are to lazy to hookup is the parking brake wire and the neutral safety switch wire.
Great vid. Thanks. Question for you. My 04 Excursion diesel compustar 9000frm series will start. Run for 2-3 seconds. Then shut off. It will repeat 3 times. Alarm works. I haven’t used all summer as I had to solder battery pin in the one way remote. (White with great buttons). Any suggestions?
Starter does not keep cranking after it starts. Also I noticed my “theft” light in dash blinks fast. Truck has PATS. Only Excursion in the superduty series came with PATS.
Remote starters are new hardware that needs to be installed but with data modules they integrate to the factory alarms so when you lock the vehicle the factory alarm is still in use, in most applications.
a question .?? I have a 2001 chevrolet silverado 1500 with avital starter .. the truck does to start .. but the engine turns off .. and then it does to start and the engine stops again .. I don't know what it has .. could you give me an idea . what could it be?
Hi. I have a Viper remote starter on my 08 Tundra. Every once in a while (every 5-6 months) it seems to interfere with starting the truck using the key, meaning I'll be sitting in the truck and trying to start it normally. I know it's the remote start cuz as soon as I take the FOB off the key chain and move it away from the truck the truck will start. Any idea's or suggestions?
what do you do if you lost the automatic starter key fob? sometimes for no reason my car will start as I enter it. i’m thinking that a frequency is causing this. maybe on my factory key fob?
You would have to buy the same model as a replacement and pair it. I have videos on pairing remotes for compustar and astrostart. Other brands have different processes to pair remotes. As for the car automatically starting when you enter it that is odd.
2:26 so you said start the vehicle. And then start it again using the remote start and the break pedal as the car is already on ? How is that possible or did I get confused
Mines giving a start error and 6 flashes. 6 flashes means the hood is open but it’s not. Also I don’t think a hood pin was ever installed. I don’t see one. Can I bypass the hood pin fault?
I have an RS-721 I've put in new batteries, but I see no light come on. is the remote faulty. This is a one button remote used for starting the car only
I replace my car (Hyundai Veloster 2013) battery and since then my remote starter doesn't work any more. The blue light is not flashing any more it is always on. I desactivated the Valet Mode, the light is now off and the remote still doesn't start. So it is on or off but not flashing any more and not working. Could someone help me on that?
Hi. I hope you could help. I have 2 way Prostart remote with LCD. When I pressed button to start a car I was getting beep sound and after few seconds when engine started remote was playing a melody and i had the timer displayed on the remote. Since last week I can still use the remote to start the car but it dosnt beep, play melody or display the timer on the remote. Hope you have an idea what can be wrong. Thank you.
The remote may be in a hold mode or valet mode, it should have info in the owners manual. When installers install the remote starter they usually put the manual in the glove box.
Hi Ross I have a old Compustar remote that was put in my 2008 civic. It worked up until a couple of years ago until I had to change the cars battery. Now it only locks and unlocks the car no beeps though. The remote start does nothing no sounds. Also no switch for when the hood is open that I can see. Any ideas?
My 04 Ford Taurus dies overnight and I'm pretty sure it has something to do with the security, can someone tell me if it may or may not be the security??
I have what seems to be a rare issue every once in a while I would say every 5 starts the 6 start will sound the horn 10 times but starts the car just fine lol ?
Janelle Andersen Antes it could be, the cold engine is not running fast enough and dies but tach detects it could be running fast enough, in the warmer afternoon the engine won't have such a hard time starting and will continue running even from a lower rpm because everything is warmer and loosened up, I would recommend programming tach on a cold engine and seeing if that helps.
ctrf-5603 remote starter that’s my fob. The problem how do I start my car when I press the bottom it doesn’t work I have to press the bottom and the screen squeezing the screen and then it’s starting. It’s weird why? 😢
Im still playing with mine. I tried the tach relearning alone and that didnt help, still held and grinded. So, even though i thought it was only for programming remotes for the starter (which mine was already responding to so i thought this was a dead end) i tried the 5 clicks thing, and then tried programming the tach again..... Im still waiting to confirm, but when i remote started after both of those, it started faster as if with the key, and the grinding stopped! for now.... im still suspicious. it was doing the 3 attempts, and even though the car did start it turned off and retried remote starting 2 more times. and then gave up. Im letting it get totally cold again to see if i get the same better responce. If that is the fix, im still puzzled as to why i would have had to reprogram the same remote again? when it was already responding? weird.... im one of those people who if it works wants to know *why* it works. lol
Omg thank you, I found my problem ! #3. I tried to fix it by doing the same thing you explained, but when I try to remote start the car with the brake pedal down and the engine running, the remote sais "error". It's a viper system on a 2004 Acura TSX. Please help !
Hey there, I have a vizion ant-1wam with a 4 button remote start. If I press the button it'll click and I hear a hum, then it stops and it doesn't start. If I push the button with the key in the ignition on accessories, then it'll start. Any ideas?
if its accessory it is probably the fuse, when i point out the bypass in the video its a little black box with wires going to it, it wont look factory probably zip tied in place. There should be in line fuses going to the box on some thicker wires.
I HAVE AN AVITAL REMOTE STARTER WITH THE 4 BUTTON KEY REMOTE. MY TIMER STOPPED SHUTTING OFF AT 12 MINUTES. NOW IT SHUTS OFF AT 30 SECONDS THEN RESTARTS, SHUTS OFF AGAIN THEN RESTARTS FOR 30 SECONDS. I CAN'T FIND THE VALET BUTTON TO RE-PROGRAM. IS THERE ANOTHER WAY TO RE=PROGRAM?
@@youngsumma car started fine yesterday. Drove home and today it clicks. I used my MPC remote start but it just clicked a lot and sounded fkd. So I took my battery to Auto Zone and it was at 11 Volts. Apparently that is too low to turn her over. So they are charging her for me and I'll try to restart the jeep and pray I need a new battery and the alternator isn't screwed.
It shouldn't. The remote starter is independent, but it does tie into some systems so it could cause issues if installed incorrectly. If your check engine light is on check it with a scanner or take it to a shop.
my check engine light in my camero came on and i thought i fucked something up while trying to auto start it. i was mad and walked away and came back to it off.. im not trying anything again without paying someone to reprogram it. its kinda sad how hard it is just to get ypur autostarter working..
Ok ,if all else fails. I was able to re-program the remote by unplugging the bypass module (located under the dash) waiting a few seconds are re-plugging it...wallah, the remotes starters work. Good luck.
I just got a remote starter installed last week, drove it fine but my son left the dome light on after using my car draining the battery. After my husband juiced up the battery, now the remote starter wont' work, any suggestions?
@@SpareParts86 The key fab says Avital? Thank you for replying. My husband called yesterday and they asked me to come in and they'll take a look at it. Cross your fingers. I hope the draining of my battery didn't do anything to it :( This was a pretty expensive Christmas gift to me from my husband. Have a good day.
@@SpareParts86 All fixed and didn't charge me a thing since I went back right away and told them what happened. Somehow when the battery died it caused something to disconnect. Whatever he did it only took him a few minutes to figure it out.
When i press the remote starter it will start but only in a few seconds. And its not working anymore. When i repeat to press the starter but it works only in a few seconds. Any suggestion please
It could be the tach programming, or it could be a bad bypass, it would need to be taken to a shop if it's that. It could also be a bunch of other stuff too.
My old aftermarket remote start and alarm still works for 15 years without any problem compare to Viper and Compustar alarm. Beware of them in the market. Because the way they wired from the crappy instruction manual and some of them wired incorrectly.
I have a 2008 escalade ext new remote I program the new remote door unlocks and locks correctly but womt start i i press the remote start like flashes an engine light comed on the dash and nothing.any advise?
@@SpareParts86 I have an 08 Mazda 3, and I only get a clicking sound (4 clicks) around the dash area but no start. The valet mode trick didn't work. How would I know if the fuse is dead?
It could be idling low in the cold and not getting a decent tachometer signal see if you can find a way to reprogram that for your model remote starter. If it's compustar this video should help.
I start the engine and press the switch with the break pedal. It beeps 3 times, then I press the remote control and it doesn't beep again. what am I doing wrong?
On Compustar and Astrostart they ussually try 3 times then if the car fails to start they will stop trying, you should plug your car in using a block heater in extreme cold if your vehicle is not starting.
Max Steel they have start every 2-3 hours programmable or start at certain temps to prevent the car from getting too cold, you would need to take it to a shop to take out that programming. If it wasn't programmed before, it may be defective.
If your vehicle comes from factory with Remote Start, 99% of the time you won’t have a problem. Only ones that have issues are the after market ones, some good brands, Some crappy ones. I had factory Remote Start in my 2007 Pontiac G6 and my 2015 Chevy Equinox and no problem with either one.
@@tru1655 how do you know it’s the remote start not working? Could be something else. You do know you can enable and disable that feature in the computer
@@tru1655check engine, or battery voltage being low can cause issues with a rock remote start. Could also be something else but those are the most common
The remote start wouldn't work after I changed the battery. Only lock and unlock worked. I tried the valet reset. That fixed it. The mechanic couldn't even fix it when he looked at it.
i wish! now a days everything is about electronics, i just bought a ram rebel brand new and now it says no key fob detection 🙁 but it still works after a couple of times when it wants
