It's important to tune your table saw up regularly. In this video I outline my standard routine for basic maintenance including: dust port cleaning, adjustment rod cleaning and lubrication, blade plate leveling, fence alignment, and surface wax and buffing.

Like you, I try to tune my table saw once a year but sometimes I go two years between tune-ups. It finally gets to the point where you really can't make another cut until you roll up your sleeves and just get it done. Nice work!

Wow, you have a "stainless steel top?" I got gypped, mine is cast iron. But I was glad to see that you showed how to lube the exact saw that I own. Thanks!

Oh no, that was completely a slip of the tongue. Mine is cast iron as well. Good catch!

Weather. Were suppose to be planting next month..uh-huh. I like the tune up time. Grab a beer, put on good tunes and not only set up your tools, but also the ones you set them up with. Good vid bud...peace.

Thanks for watching, Dale. Yeah, I think I should be able to get the potatoes started next month if things go well, but not much other than that. April will be a full month in the garden for sure though, I promise.

I have the same problem with the blade height adjustment. Became unbearable at the end of last fall and is on my hit list to tackle once it warms up enough to get back into the garage. Thanks much for the tips!

Nice video, thanks for the tips, just got a table saw yesterday! I'm guessing from the accent and Oshkosh shirt you're still in WI. Stevens Point saying "hi!"

Either you’ve worked In The television field before as talent or tech, or ill floss with a bandsaw. Good video

lol, thanks, but you're going to have to floss with a bandsaw. No TV experience for me! (although I am flattered)

I really hope you don’t ever let it clog like that.... if it’s in your basement which it looks like, that’s a huge fire hazard....

I have the same problem with my blade. The gear gets dry and hard to move. I use some paste wax and it works good. Also, where was your RZ mask with all that dust in the air?
@MidwestManMountain
@MidwestManMountain 5 лет назад
LOL the RZ mask will be making a cameo during another video in this series :) As I was cleaning the saw, I realized that my big problem was sawdust buildup. Paste wax for the win!

New subscriber, so I'm late to the game, but how do you manage the dust from your basement shop? I've noticed you don't have a collection system. How do you keep the dust from penetrating the rest of your house? I enjoy your videos. Being in Northern MN we're a few weeks behind you guys weather wise. Looking forward to the ground finally melting...

Well hello there! Good to meet a fellow midwesterner. So as for my dust collection, really I just sweet up in the shop when I'm done and then also remember to wear a dust mask when I'm sanding and such. We replace our air filter in the HVAC ever six months, too. Otherwise, the sawdust just stays in my workshop. Thanks for the sub :)
@The_Biggest_Al
@The_Biggest_Al 5 лет назад
@@MidwestManMountain Interesting. I'm not sure I can convince my wife that the dust would stay down there. I really get itchy to get out in the workshop during the loooong winter, but I can't afford to heat a 20x40 building (it's not all workshop, LOL) and I find my tools don't work as good in the cold we get up here. May have to try to wall off a small section and heat that.

If you have an indoor or basement wood shop, you must build a dust collection manifold up near the ceiling and around the walls with 4 inch PVC piping and hook that up to a HarborFreight dust collector. The manifold pipes then need to be hooked up to all your gear with sliding gates. Leave a few extra ports for hooking up flex hoses to your sanders and such. Once this is in place, you just slide open the gate to the gear you are using and turn on the dust collector...simple as that. Should aggressively keep dust out of the air ... It should go straight feom the cutting blade into the dust collector. If you cannot build the piping thing, just get a 90$ shopvac and wheel it around and hook it up to equipment as you use it. Make sure to get a shopvac with fat hoses, not skinny ones.

A zero clearance throat plate would prevent those slivers of wood from falling inside the cabinet and clogging up the dust chute.
