Sekiro and Lies of P taught me that I’m just a parry guy. I just think it’s a lot more fun than dodging. I’m glad to see some of these games seem to have a deflect mechanic
Same here. Part of what I didn’t like in new Lords of the Fallen. You can party but it feels like a wet fart. Stellar Blade feels promising on the front. They definitely need to tweak the timing window though; it’s in this weird middle spot where it doesn’t cue off of attack launch or attack impact but somewhere in between. I hope they fix it before launch.
Enotria looks so, so good. I hope they push the release back a little bit so it doesn't just get swallowed by Shadow of the Erdtree. They're set to release the same day
Enotria caught my eye last year. I'm really excited about that one, but I felt bad for the developers when they announced a June 21 release date just a few days before FromSoft dropped the Elden DLC trailer with the exact same launch date. They're going to have to move their day one, or they will be completely overshadowed.
@@blasthf Yeah, I saw that a few days ago. They went from competing with the Elden Ring DLC to competing with Black Myth Wukong. These devs can't catch a break.
@@hashslingingslasher3083 It's kind of funny. September 19, 2024 is the one-year anniversary of the release of Lies of P, and we know it is getting DL some time soon. How much of a kick in the teeth would it be for the DLC to drop on the same day as Enotria's third release date?
I cant disconnect my brain or pay attention to what you are saying while "Gherman, the First Hunter" theme is playing in the background. What a masterpiece of a musical theme.... the most beautiful Requiem I have ever heard....
I am very excited for The First Berserker. Berserker is my main character in the DNF Duel fighting game and has an interesting lore that would be cool to play through
Lies of P was incredible. The only non fromsoft game to actually make me love boss encounters despite loosing ever and over. Felt exactly like sekiro meets bloodborn. A perfect game, outstanding
I was half expecting No Rest for the Wicked to be on this list as it is NOTHING like an ARPG in any way beyond random loot. I watched a decent amount of play at it definitely looks about 80% souls 10% Diablo ARPG and 10% bizarre home crafting game.
I'm really looking forward to Enotria. I love battling my way through a dank castle or a gothic cathedral, but I've really been hoping for more games like this in brighter settings.
Black Myth Wukong is definitely the best upcoming non-From Souls game. The developers mentioned that its combat design/mechanism is more like GoW style than Soulslike but you still can clearly see Souls influences. The First Berserker looks interesting as well.
Feel bad for Enotria and it's devs. Looks like a great game but launching same day as Shadow of the Erdtree is gonna bury it. Should definitely push it's release by like a month.
Enotria looks beautiful artistically but after Steel Rising I can’t do jank Souls anymore. Just looking at the back dodge and hit effects and it just looks clunky. First Berserker and AI Limit look peak though.
What is real soulslike nowdays? I Ibet Flintlock has difficulty options and looks more like God of War 2018. I'm not saying it's a bad game or anything.
Soulslike is categorized by having a majority of these traits(though not all): 1) checkpoints that reset when rested at 2) difficult, methodical, yet tight and fair gameplay in the moment to moment. 3)a resource gained by killing monsters and bosses that can be used to increase a stat system or skills that is often lost upon death and must be picked up in a corpse run 4)cryptic story telling that opts for environmental story telling supplemented with lore and stories inscribed on items/weapons found in the world 5) little to no branching dialogue options, often having NPCs exposition dump while the player simply pushes a yes/no prompt and even these should be rare. 6) diverse builds based on the in-game weapon and magic system that allows for repeat playthroughs 7) RU-vid coverage by vaati/fextra😂
have bonfire, combat that usually involves waiting for an opening to strike, interconnected world that involves opening up shortcuts, boss fights and high difficulty
Bruh missed the best indie souls like in Aggro Crab's Another Crabs Treasure. 3D platformer plus souls like releasing on everything INCLUDING SWITCH just next month
Relic looks fun and the ascetic looks amazing, except for the awful camera and video effects overlaying it. I hope it's just for the showcase footage and not actually in the game, as I would find that nauseating to the point of being unplayable. Mortal Shell had something like that and it could not be turned off (but that game also had a boring gameplay loop).
thats true, but what made people still engaged is the brutal difficulty and rewarding experiences it serves. but in my opinion, if you want a souls game with movement and combat, you should see Ghost of Tsushima
The last one you covered. It's going to be a very bad game, I am calling it now. How do I know? 1) New Zealand is an authoritarian state that was recently conquered by the WEF and so all their media has to be pumped with cringey and obvious propaganda.(You can see it in the trailer even, could you imagine how bad I'd be if there is a lot of dialogue?) 2)They took the story of Gilgamesh and Enki and gender swapped humanity's greatest and most oldest hero. Have you any doubt she will be gay as well? She will, watch. Now woke media isn't inherently bad, however why so much of it is bad(especially in the triple A gaming space)is that usually these studios only choose to do this when they realize they won't make their money back on sales so they ask for an investment from the WEF(not directly they ask banks and then the banks ask the WEF) . The WEF then hands them a document demanding certain changes to that media to qualify for the venture/investment capitol. They then go and retroactively change it, the premier example of this is of course forspoken. A game that was obviously gender and perhaps even race swapped last minute to qualify for that sweet ESG bailout. Look at this trailer, see how it's a male mocap? See how he holds himself broadly and exudes masculinity? Ya it's because it was a guy until the banks said nope, we need more division! lol. Modern Woke games aren't actually made to be played by us, we aren't the ones buying them, blackrock is. Naturally this means the game will suck, because blackrock doesn't play games. All they want is to flood the west with Marxist based media that causes just enough derision to halt any sort of occupy Wall Street from ever happening again. Therefore I am calling it now, this game will be objectively bad.
These all look so generic and lacking any real inspiration art style wise. I really just don't think a lot of these developers get what people enjoy about Fromsoftware games.
