According to my understanding Disney sequels weren't even made to be good, but instead to train a new set of animators while grabbing some money in the process? It's really nice to see that some absolute gems came out of that
Peter Pan himself was much nicer in Return to Neverland than he was in the original. In the first movie, he was all about having fun & never noticed when others were physically or emotionally hurt by his antics. But he was much more empathetic towards Jane, perhaps because he still had feelings for Wendy. And he never yelled at Jane for not being Wendy - he accepted Jane as her own person. That’s more mature than most adults.
But it sadly gave kids a bad message about playing in the war instead of blaming the ADULTS !! Tinker Bell was still rule and selfish I prefer her MLP like spinoff movies with her friends and capality to talk !!
I love that one! I feel like it's a bit underrated. I really liked the concept, and Anastasia's plot- line. Cinderella herself also gets her own plot that I think is interesting.
I'm honestly really happy seeing Peter Pan 2 at the top of the list, everyone around me looked down on it as a poorly made sequel, but as a child I was invested into it from beginning to end, and that still hasn't changed to this day. If anything, as an adult I can see even more then what I did back then.
You have no clue how happy I was to see Cinderella 3 make it into the list. No one ever seems to talk about it and in my opinion, it’s more entertaining than the original. The prince is so charming in this film and you get to see he actually has a personality. (Now I see why she fell in love with him) Honestly, it was just fun to watch.
Personally my most hated Disney sequel is Pocahontas 2. I know the original story is fake history and kinda contrived and dumb but it was visually stunning and so beautiful to watch (plus day music). The sequel managed to do everything in its power to dump on everything that made the original so good x.x
fluffylovey fun fact about the original Pocahontas is that when John Smith came back from his travels all over, he would always tell stories about foreign women falling in love with him. One of those being Pocahontas! So for a while the story of Pocahontas was true to most people (other than those who traveled with him). What I enjoy about Pocahontas 2 is that it tries to fix the originals historical inaccuracies and puts her with John Ralfe, who she marries to make relations with indians better and learn more about european life. But also how much of a douche John Smith was in real life (thinking selfishly at the end), he was quite a charmer..
i pretend that movie doesn't exist. the disney version could have stayed the disney version, they don't need to bother with historical accuracy. the original was magical despite not being super historically accurate.
Bambi 2 will always be the absolute best to me - but regarding The Little Mermaid 2. It makes sense that Ariel would mature after what she's been through since it was her ignorance that nearly led to the destruction of her home under the sea. Parents who were rash and bull-headed in their youth are usually the ones who will warn their kids against certain activities. This could've been a very convincing change for Ariel had there been an actual "real." threat and good dialogue.
I'd have to rewatch the original Peter Pan, but I'd probably agree anyways. Cause only shortly after watching Peter Pan 2 for the first time, I wanted to already rewatch it XD =D
PhantomStrider It's just that Peter always had a bit of a shallow opinion towards grown-ups. Thinking that they change completely, and they forget about the most funnest and nicest memories they had when they were children. And Peter felt that was exactly what was going to happen to Wendy, meaning that he thinks Wendy will forget about him. Which is why he wanted to bring Wendy to Neverland. So she would never forget about him. But now, it's very heartwarming for Peter that Wendy has never forgotten him. Which is why that scene leaves such an impact.
I'm sure they probably did have kids eventually, I just wish they showed us what it was like. It's true that Ariel changed in the second movie but you have to keep in mind that she was young in the first. People change when they get older, especially if they have kids. You can't always be adventurous when you have a child to look after. Besides, if you did dangerous things when you were younger, would you let your kids do the same? I do plenty of things that I'll never let my future kids do lol.
@@canadiancommunist5161 I also love Disney's Robin Hood it's a relly fun and it still hold up just as well as when I watched it as a kid wich is a suprise as I tend to dislike a lot of old Disney films. I also love the creativity with how they used the animals to tell the story it kinda reminded me of how they did it in Zootopia. And it's probably the Disney film I laugh the most at.
you mean 'hold my beer' cuz they where drunk when they made over half of these things, and they where on depressants when they where making hunchback 2 . (this went out to strawberry milk's comment btw)
Where the hell was Pocahontas II? It's lame, ugly, predictaple and ruins the entire character of pocahontas. It makes her look blunt and weak. I loved pocahontas as a kid but after seeing the sequel i just tried to erase it from my mind.
The reason that Fantasia 2000 and Rescuers Down Under are such high quality is because they are the only 3 that were actually released in theaters, giving them infinite more of a budget than the rest of the sequels, that are all straight to VHS/DVD
They were also made by Disney's main unit, while the rest of the sequels were done by their side unit Disneytoons Studios, besides the 2011 Pooh movie. Though some of the Disneytoons sequels like Bambi II and The Tigger Movie were released in theatres in certain countries.
I personally grew up watching the little mermaid 2 on VHS at least 5 times a week. I can see why it is not very liked, but I can't hate it no matter how bad the plot was Now lion king 1 1/2 that was the other movie I'd watch every day. I'm glad to see people like it
Me too! I think loads of fans of the original could really relate to Melody... we all wanted to be mermaids after it! Admittedly though, I would have really liked Ariel to be self aware about how she was acting like her father, with a bigger focus on her as a mother than Melody in some ways.
I loved how even Lion King 1 1/2 kept up with the Shakespeare theme. It’s all one big reference to a parody play called “Rosencratz and Gildenstern are Dead”, centered on two EXTREMELY minor characters in Hamlet and their reactions to all of the events of “Hamlet”.
I remember when I was a kid I had the biggest crush on Jane from Peter Pan 2, and frankly, in retrospect, I see why. She's really a fantastic protagonist, especially for a Peter Pan story.
Since Lion King is based off of Hamlet, Lion King 1 1/2 is based off of Rosencratz and Gildenstein are dead, where it’s the same story, but from the POV of two other characters
Man, The Lost Boys are adapted in the original novel with them being killed Peter Pan with a knife was just too extreme for a kid-friendly Disney movie. But at the end, Jane played with Peter Pan and he broke his heart after he found out that Wendy was married and grown up. But I'm sure in Peter Pan 2: Return To Neverland that at the end, Peter and Wendy reunited after the movie.
Fun Fact: Rescuers Down Under was made by mainstream Disney. The vast majority of these were made by Disneytoon Studios, famous for awful sequels, but it was the only sequel Disney made before Disneytoon opened, so it got full attention by the best animators and writers. Lucky for it!
I couldn’t agree with this list more. When I was younger I found myself watching Peter Pan 2 more than Peter Pan 1. I saw Bambi 2 a year or so ago and it was a wonderful movie. I honestly loved it. I agree with more choices but those two stuck out to me. Awesome list! I love it!
Bambi 2 is amazing, I loved it as much as Bambi. Peter Pan 2 was, for me, better than the 1st. For some reason, in the first film, Peter seemed a little bit of a jerk (I should rewatch it to have a better opinion, but that's the idea I have) and Jane was a more complex character for me than Wendy. Peter Pan 2 has more depth.
My Worst: 3) Hunchback 2 - I could see potential in the story (surprisingly), but it all was wasted on a safe dumb script 2) Belle's Magical Trash - The writing and animation were awful, and good grief the characters were butchered 1) Fox and the Hound 2 - Because when I think Fox and the Hound, I think of a pointless cliched band/liar story My Best: 3) Peter Pan 2 - Good animation, and I personally love the plot line, glad I'm not alone in that. 2) Cinderella 3 - Dumb idea somehow was made amazingly epic 1) Rescuers Down Under - Perfect storyline, epic animation, and I love everything about it
I give you the reason on Cinderella 3, I was very entertained by how fun it was seeing the evil stepmother trying to sabotage the happy ending of Cinderella
1. FINALLY! Someone acknowledged one of my favorite Disney movies, Fantasia 2000! 2. The Little Mermaid 2 could have been better if Ariel actually approved of Melody wanting to go to the sea but kept it a secret 3. Fanfics are better than any of the stories from Belle's Magical World 4. Your points about Peter Pan 2 make me see it in a different light (I never saw the movie in full) 5. They may not be sequels but finales in a sense, but I enjoyed Pooh's Grand Adventure and Leroy and Stitch.
Peter Pan 2 was my childhood favorite! It was so emotional when Tinker Belle died! Well, until she woke again it had to be one of the most saddest disney moments I have ever scene.
That was my favorite scene when I was a child. Not because I hated Tinker. I loved her, but there was something about that scene that I really loved as fucked up as it sounds. Probably with how well it was handled. Like you could see in Tinkers expressions as she was getting weaker that she knew she was going to die, but she did not want to die. She was fearing for her life. That scene really got to me as a kid.
GalaxyCake I dunno. The saddest Disney moments in my opinion are Kenai telling Koda his mother wasn't coming back because he killed her (Brother Bear), the opening of Bambi 2, Lilo and Stitch when Stitch breaks down about being lost, and all 80 something mintutes of The Hunchback, and The Tigger Movie is freaking depressing as hell.
Howdy! Was planning Worst/Best Hanna Barbera next or Worst/Catchiest Cartoon intros next but feel free to leave your own suggestions. Thanks for dropping in :)
@@idealistic6440 Yeah...I remember seeing it but was so comfused. I saw the original and couldn't understand how it would fit as a sequel. A song or two was good to me but I was so confused watching it...
Making animation 👌 Making a sequel that craps on the original 👍 Making bad live-action remakes that destroy the original ⚡️👤⚡️ Making a lazy meme 🕵 Making a lazy meme into a lazy comment recreated with emojis and words ⚡️⚡️👌🕵👍⚡️⚡️
What I appreciate about "Return to Neverland" is that WW2 is treated with respect, especially it's effect it can have on kids. Jane is relatable as a character, especially to those who have had their dads or brothers go off to war, not knowing if they'll come back alive. It's amazing that this movie got so much effort and such a budget.
I'm hoping we get a good Sequel for Zootopia... I hope Wreck It Ralph 2 will be a good indicator for how Disney is going to handle Sequels from this time on :3
And I hope this is'nt an Emoji Movie remake. Because it takes place on the Internet does'nt make a movie bad unless if Emoji Movie has the worst plots.
I have to say this... I have not bin a fan of 3D animation... I don't hate 3D animation... Wreck It Ralph, Tangled hell all of the Pixar movies would work in 2D... But for the very first time i fell in love with a 3D animated movie... Zootopia Is The Best Looking movie and is the first one to deserve being in 3D animation... You may not like it but 3D animation is here to stay... Moana may have worked in 2D but that 3D water effect no way that would have looked as good in 2D... If you can't look past animation then i feel bad for you... The Animation is just one part of it... The stories and characters are just as important... If your just looking at the animation... Thin you are just getting a quarter of the movie... And if you are avoiding the movies because they are 3D animation then you are missing out big time... Zootopia needs a Sequel... And I'd like to see Moana get one too.
I'm not really a fan of 3D either. But I was planning to be as animator for Pixars someday or creating my own show. But I do believe that CGI nowadays are just bleak, exception for Pixars and Dreamworks as well as Illumination Studios. Sequels can be bad sometimes only if you messed up the plots and originalities.
Regarding 9:15, to be fair, Ronno was in the original movie (that random deer that Bambi fought near the end), so he was in Bambi 2 to expand more on his character. Great video otherwise though!
They eventually did gave Samus dialogue in Metroid: Other M and it among a lot of other things ruined the game as a whole. Metroid went on hiatus for several years before butchering it up again with Federation Force! And then finally they learned their lesson with a proper 2D Metroid not seen since the GBA, and the promise of a 4th Metroid Prime game for Switch!
*+Cyberbrickmaster1986* Nope, that wasn't the first time they gave her *dialogue.* The first time was in *Metroid Fusion.* Now, *voiced dialogue* is quite different.
BeanBag343 That's also why I personally love this sequel. But the only downside for me with this movie, was that it didn't get an Oscar nod for best animated feature film. But then again it can't exactly compare to Spirited Away in my opinion. But overall I love both of these movies.
@@supergirlysofia3054 Yeah, they even had McDonalds toys to celebrate the movie. I know because I had a few and because I wanted Jane so bad I had gotten quite the collection, including Mr.Smee, the Boulder Guy (one of the lost boys), Captain Hook, and Peter Pan. I never did get Jane though so I had another small toy I pretended was her when I played with them. I think I still have them somewhere.
@@09crafty09 I think I remember Peter Pan happy meal toys too but my family didn't go to McDonald's that often and I didn't eat happy meals until I was like, 10 😂. Thank you for sharing! Maybe now you will find Jane somewhere on eBay 😂
3:33 Ariel stretches her neck like a giraffe. The little mermaid two is the perfect example of why the first movie doesn’t need a sequel and prequel except for the series.
Lion King 1 1/2 to me was funny, but you can really only watch it once. Lion King 2 (other than the animation) to me is better than the original. The motivations are much clearer and it’s it follows up the original well.
I don't like Lion King 1 1/2's irreverent tone towards the original. Really, that scene where the reason why all the animals kneel is revealed to be because of Pumbaa farting was just too much. It's not bad, but I greatly prefer Lion King 2. I actually haven't watched many of these Disney sequels myself. So I'll say that Lion King 2 is my favorite sequel. And Hunchback of Notre Dame 2 is the worst one I've watched, for sure.
Yeah, let's face it. People like me have a very rough history with Princess Ariel because in The Little Mermaid 1, she never developed from being ungrateful, selfish and a female stereotype in general. No wonder The Little Mermaid II would be horribly executed, but there is more reasons why such as PhantomStrider's points to why The Little Mermaid II: The Return to the Sea is another example of how charmless a sequel made by DisneyToon Studios can really be while the film's on this list of greatest Disney animated sequels are total exclusions). However, apart from its stereotypes, The Little Mermaid (1989) is actually partially well-made because of what the animators could do although it is a film released in the late '80s, actually beautiful songs by Alan Menken and specially badass villain Ursula.
Kieran Stark Okay, Ariel wasn't ungrateful. She just wanted to discover a world outside the ocean. TRITON was the SELFISH ONE! He destroyed her trinket collection to teach her a lesson and in doing so pushed Ariel to lose her voice until the end of the movie.
Oh, Triton too pissed me off in The Little Mermaid because of what you just described he has! But HE was the one that actually developed his attitude by having a MUCH more controlled temper. Princess Ariel could have journeyed King Triton to the human world so that they could give it a chance to see if it is that bad like in the near past or not. That's one of the many reasons I would be honored to remake (and/or parodize Walt Disney Animation Studio's The Little Mermaid) besides the fact that no matter how much she would want to be at or at least check out the human world, she could at least be grateful of the sea realm she is at. After all, it has magic! I know you disagree that Ariel is ungrateful, but I elaborated on why I respectfully disagree with you and find my opinion to be objective and try to be as respectful about it as possible.
@2023 Brayden Langford On the contrary, they're saying that Rescuers Down Under is so GOOD, to the point that it made the audience have HIGH expectations for Disney sequels. Yeah... We all know how that went...
Rotten Pizza Except Disney Afternoon has much higher standards, liek The Mighty Ducks, Aladdin, Adventures of the Gummy Bears, DuckTales/Darkwing Duck, TaleSpin and Timon and Pumbaa! 🤩
Hunchback II doesn't even look like the same universe as the first one. If they had to make a Hunchback II, they should have done a midquel about a younger Quasimodo trying to venture out, making one friend but eventually, Frollo finds out he's been sneaking out and he never sees that friend again. It would end with the gargoyles coming to life and becoming his new friends (possible hallucination implied for the adults watching), giving him a happy ending. It would still be stupid, but it might work.
To be honest, some Disney sequels are very mixed. I've only see few of the sequels and I like how you give the pros and cons on the movies and it makes me want to check them out one day
Worst part is it had potential to be good if they didn't go with the marriage plot and went with the original idea of Shan Yu and the Huns coming back as ghosts.
Haters of Mulan (1998) that like to make it sound too flawed to be considered amazing so they can make both the sequel and the remake sound a lot more like overhated gems by comparison are cyberbullies (re: the toxic side of the comment section of m.ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-sEl6cXB_riA.html that don’t acknowledge why they should have instead griped that Pooh’s Grand Adventure, even by Disney Renaissance standards, is too brilliant to land on this list since as Pooh fanatics, it is the greatest DTS film since A Goofy Movie).
I really wish people would stop saying “Fanfiction” like it’s the absolute worst thing ever. Some are really amazing. The Star Wars books were Fanfiction. Any novels you see published for a particular TV Shows or movies that aren’t a direct copy of them (Or a continuation of them) are Fanfiction. Although, there’s one Fanfiction I absolutely *loath*, which is 50 Shades Of Grey. No wonder it’s such a bad novel series and movie, because it was originally a Twilight Fanfiction. There’s so many Authors who began their careers writing Fanfiction and learned their trade before branching out and writing original plots. Marissa Meyer for example. She started out by writing Sailor Moon Fanfiction.
I know what you mean. I Read KPop fanfiction and some of the stories they come up with are amazing. I also used to read HSM fanfictions. i remember one where Troy was in a mental hospital because he was mentally a child (and abused) and Gabriella was his Nurse. there was a KPop fanfiction i loved that you could choose your path in the story. Most chapters had an option at the end that would take you in a different direction and let you choose the story yourself and who you end up with as a love interest.
When 50 shades of grey was out as a bestseller, I picked it up at costco and read a couple pages to see if I might like it. As a fanficiton reader, I was interested in finding something quality that had been published. What I read though was not quality, and felt more like someone was writing a spoof of fan fiction. . .To be so terrible that I stood there really confused, thinking it had to be a parody of some sort. I should have guessed though, as I couldn't get past the first book in the Twilight series. @@sleepingrose3116
Yeah, I think it’s one of those things where the whole group is being judged by its worst/loudest parts and most people haven’t even read enough of them to actually judge whether they’re all trash or not. There are millions of fanfics out there and while there are many cringy ones written by unskilled teenagers, there are also many good ones, from artful one shots to amazing novel length ones all with great writing.
Cinderella 3 is the final film from Disneytoon Studios to be a direct to video sequel as they now focus on spinoffs and original films, and was shut down In the summer of 2018 because there weren't too many employees for this small studio.
Yeah. Like Hanna-Barbara Studios, it was completely shut down because of bankrupts but the building was existed to this day. But only surrounded by construction sites.
Ray Sipe And thank goodness for that. Don’t get me wrong, I was a huge fan of DisneyToon for movies like Mickey Donald Goofy: The Three Musketeers, and anything from the Tinker Bell series, but they were making another god-awful Planes movie when they shut down.
I saw Return To Neverland in theaters with my parents and others (I think my bff was part of the group) and I remember begging my parents to have us see it. I liked it as did my dad who grew up on Peter Pan and yeah that there says a lot about it.
I watched it on Disney Channel for some reasons. The best part was when Tink is dying from poison and Jane was crying. But it's pretty much everything about relatable characters.
Goleon I used to love Peter Pan as a child, and when I watched Return to Neverland, I loved it even more. Yes, it’s corny and has its weird parts, but I still love it.
I first saw Kronk's new groove when I was about 9, I think? And I loved it! I still really like it. It's definetly not as good as the original, the original is basically an unpassable film. But the second one still had some great jokes, but just a bit less effort put in. If youre in the mood, and know its definetly not gonna be the best, you can really enjoy this film.
Yep,It's a shame that the writers of this sequel had turned The Beast from a kind, misunderstood character into a extremely arrogant jerk, who is even more threatening, ruthless, and antagonistic than he ever was in the original movie,I always hated how he acted horribly to Belle and treated the poor injured bird that she found by kidnapping it and making the bird(who is terrified of his appearance) sing for him, I was also mad when he knocked Webster off the table during his arguement with Belle and when he threw Him,Leplume, and Crane out of the castle when he found out that the letter was a forgery. They made him even worse and his actions were Unsympathically downright evil rather than outright selfish. I wish Donald Duck would beat the hell out of him for his evil and selfish actions in the movie, the same way he did to Pete in the Mickey short "Tapped Out"when he destroyed his nachos, and as revenge for beating him up in "The Adorable Couple" and Scaring the hell out of him when he they first encountered in the House of Mouse. I also want Lola to scare the hell out of him since she's more worse than him and Scrooge to hit him severly with his cane.
Like you said about the writers of the sequel turned Beast into a horrible monster, I think we know a simple answer to blame. Plus, no one asked for Beast to become Beast again because at the end of the original movie, he turned into a handsome Prince. That's just wrong!!!
Friendship actually,Belles magical World took place during the events of the original film while the beast was struggling with his anger issues and still being kind to belle, but before Belle broke the curse and the fight with gaston
YES! Return to Neverland was one of my favorite Disney films growing up, I'm so glad I'm not the only one who likes it! "I Try" is also one of the most beautiful Disney songs ever, as well as arguably my favorite.
YES! Every time I have a bad day, I watch Return to Neverland. It was my absolute favorite Disney movie, PERIOD! Still is to this day. I'll Try is also the best song to listen to when you need a good cry.
OH MY GOD! You're reminding me why I loved Return to Neverland sooooooo much! When I watched it as a kid I liked it, then I rewatched it (as one does). I never owned a copy and they played it on tv on Toon Disney and stuff and I just loved it. My favorite parts as a younger child were of captain hook and the squid and for a young kid it will crack you up. And being able to explore neverland when he brings Jane in is a DREAM! It brought so much fantasy in my young childhood. I would reenact my own captain hook and Jane/wendy scenes with some of my toys. And the movie provided me with enough for my young child instincts to awaken and for me to feel entranced. And even though the movie did later become heavy as a kid it was structured in such a way that it isn't a overbearing theme that will distract the gist of the story for a small conversation about it with younger elementary school kid. I never quite got the whole WWII thing because I was too young on my first watches as a young elementary school kid to and hadn't studied enough of it in school to make heads or tails of the time periods significance. But the movie (minus those parts) for a older elementary school kid which is slightly uneducated (about complex history topics) the movie really made me feel something truly spectacular. These emotions that I was now feeling I had never been able to feel or grasp as a child in any other movie this movie was still able to maintain a whimsical and fun charm. When you commented on how Jane picked up one of the lost boys and said "I have to go home " it hit home and I remember feeling the emotions as a kid. *Brief intermission here as I take a moment to calm my emotions because of my fond memories of this movie* *cries internally thinking about it* When Peter talked to wendy (as a younger kid it wasn't a big deal, but as a older kid on a new rewatch it was) it hit home and I remember having memories of crying and getting teary eyed. Right now I almost cried. Not because thinking of the scene makes you cry. But because of my fond memories of thinking about the scene and how I felt as a child when I finally got it and understood the meaning and significance of having to be grown up but not really having changed. The best part (after a clear explanation of the bomb shelter in the movie and all the WWII stuff as explained from my mother) was when the dad came home. And after I finally was old enough to understand what it actually meant for her father to return, as a slightly older kid self (older than my previously mentioned "old elementary school kid" me) I remember crying because I understood it. I never wanted to believe I could love a stupid disney sequel sooo much and I always thought it was wrong to. But you made me believe otherwise today and your review changed me. I just want to say thank you for reviewing these movies. It means a lot to me. Especially the Return to Neverland review. It brought back lost memories from my childhood, of loving the movie and playing make believe with my toys. This movie is a masterpiece and if it could keep a young elementary schooler entertained and later evoke emotions in a oler elementary school kid it just goes to show how amazing this movie really is. If you've actually read this or gone this far, just go watch the movie if you haven't already. But really though, even if you already watched it, WATCH IT AGAIN AND AGAIN AND AGAIN!
09crafty09 me too! I really love the sequel because Jane had to grow up fast, just like me.she still had childlike behavior but had suppress them and think/act more mature.she had an understanding of how their lives are in danger. she was a child still though and deserved to be one and that’s were Peter Pan comes in to show her it’s ok to have fun!
I do deeply relate to this sentiment even as an adult though, it's a good movie just in general not even just for a Disney sequel, and I personally really related to the themes of it as someone who had to grow up too soon
Lion King 2 is also my top favorite along side Aladin 3. Never that much into the original, but the sequel really got me, probably because of the songs. Speaking of music, while Lion King 2 has the best songs among sequels, Aladin 3 has the best background music of all. Not yet watch Return to Neverland, but I doubt its music can stand up to Aladin and the King of Thieves.
My favorite sequel no doubt is Kronk's new groove. The original is a work of comedy art, but I've always had a soft spot in my heart for the sequel, which I consider equal to it's predecessor
Yeah, Kronk's New Groove definitely did not disappoint. I don't think I would really count it among the _top_ sequels but I certainly can't be upset about it. Also, TV series' that are made off of animated movies are just about _always_ bad... But Emperor's New School was... Not awful. I remember watching it before school back in middle school, and that was alright. I enjoyed it and what it had to offer. Wouldn't say it was a favorite of mine, and I can hardly remember much of it, but I can never forget the awesome theme song.
how tragic He Lives in You and Not One of Us give me chills every time. My Lullaby also invokes much of the same power as Be Prepared but in a creepier, darker way instead of a powerful way.
Kronk's New Groove was never mentioned. Honestly, I preferred Kronk's New Groove vastly above the original and it gave a storyline of one of the lesser focused upon characters and his life working with the villain. Pull the lever, Kronk! WROOOOONG LEEVEEEEEERR!
Nor he talked about Lady and the Tramp II, 101 Dalmatians II and The Fox and the Hound 2. Or especially DreamWorks Trolls and Disney's Oliver and Company.
My worst and best Worst 5 Lion King 1/2 (I just couldn't find myself to like it) 4 Little Mermaid 3 3 Mulan 2 2 Bells Magical World 1 Hunchback 2 Best 5 Bambi 2 4 Cinderella 3 3 Aladdin Return of Jafar 2 Extremely Goofy Movie 1 Lion King 2
JoeyBlendsWell that line has such a memory for me My grandad was drunk and went in the shower. After watching it and started shouting it while crying 😅😅😅
I had never seen return to neverland, so i decided to check it out. I CRIED 6 TIMES!!! the first half of the movie is really dark and sad, there's war, jane's emotions throughout the film, and several moments where you just can't forget that through the whole adventure there is a war going on, that jane is away from her family through very hard times. The scene at the end especially got me when peter ended up seeing wendy again after all these years. There was just something very heartwarming about peter meeting her again. Thanks for recommending this to me! :)
Actually for the little mermaid sequel Morgana wanted to prove to her mother that she could do better than Ursula bc Ursula was the favourite child and was always better than Morgana . Morgana wanted to make her mother proud. Edit: thx for the heart
Yeah, but it's not that developped in the movie. I like to think that Ursula is the first movie while Morgana is the second, trying to do better than the first but she does the exact same plan/scenario if not worst
What?? I _loved_ Cinderella 2😂 But yeah, Peter Pan 2 is one of the most beautiful Disney films to date. I love how they handled Jane's character, and how it contrasts with young Wendy's innocence. (Also i had a major crush on Peter as a kid and it was great to see him again😂😂)
#5 worst. Melody could talk to fish. You'd think that Ariel would be more inclined to say, there's a crazy psycho witch who is trying to get to you. This is why you can't go into the sea. I feel like if they had just been upfront and honest with her. Than she would have understood. But no let's lie to her about everything and give her no explanation of why she likes the sea so much.
I actually used to like Ariel turned out somewhat like Triton, considering she had the attitude of “when I have kids, I’m not going to be like you” but I agree, she doesn’t learn from his mistakes about never talking about her mom’s death or why he hates humans so much. Not to mention I was kinda disappointed Melody chose to in a way stay a human, at least enchant her necklace so anytime she wants she can put her tail on to go swimming or hang out with other mermaids, like the boy she ran into!
yeet hitter Or they’d fall out. A better heist would be to nick the jewels rather than the bell itself. If they leave fakes behind it gives more time to leave Paris or hide the jewels.
Actually, The Little Mermaid II should be counted among the best sequels, noting that I always understood the motivation for Morgana's actions being to exceed her criticizing mother's expectations in Ursula's absence as well as to avenge Ursula and threaten Triton's family and seize the power over his kingdom and especially now that Ariel has a daughter of her own which she can use to her advantage in various ways (only to find that this whole wicked desire indeed never ends well), and Ariel obviously won't be the same person from the original film considering she's no longer a wild, naive, love-crazy teenage mermaid from the sea, but she's now an adult and a mother (this does have an effect on people) living a human life on land and having to consider her parenting responsibilities and difficulties as well as a great threat that now exists out at sea and threatens Ariel's family. While yes, the music isn't as great as the original but it's not that bad either, and the animation is quite beautiful, the new characters and their designs are pretty nice, the ending is pretty epic and intense, and it has a nostalgic value of course. Definitely not as good as the original, surely, but definitely not that bad either.
Return to Neverland is probably the biggest reason why I’m so in love with Disney’s original Peter Pan as well as any and all adaptations and reimaginings of it. The classic story of the original film PLUS the newer, fresher, more fleshed-out style of the sequel combined just ENCHANTED me as a kid and I have dreamed of Neverland ever since. Really glad you put that one on top! The trend of late 90s/early 2000s midquel/sequels of CLASSICS FROM HALF A CENTURY BEFORE THEM got pretty awkward, and you can tell that a lot of the childish fart jokes bled into them a little too much at times- it’s my main criticism of Bambi 2, because it cheapens the aesthetic and mood SO much- but Return to Neverland doesn’t go too far with it and I appreciate that. It’s enough to make Peter and the Lost Boys believable as rambunctious kids who will never grow up, and tbh that really compliments the theme and Jane’s frustration with the whole ordeal. I would place Lady and the Tramp 2 in honorable mentions, because even though the plot and characters are trite and forgettable, it does still take a classic, simplistic story and world and expands upon it and explores the theme of family and a dog’s loyalty in a more fleshed-out way. Maybe not as visually stunning as Rescuers Down Under, but along the same veins I’d say.
Honeslty, I agree 100% with you, especially on the top 2 sequels. I remember as a kid checking out a twist in time and return to neverland pretty frequently at the library. Come to think of it, i think i watched return to neverland more than the original because i guess it was more available in the library, and i thoroughly enjoyed it. I loved scenes like the ones where jane betrays peter in exchange for a way home and when she straight up almost kills tinkerbell
i like how you vent on Mushu's change of chaacter so much because *_same_* . I remember being confused as to how he'd act like that. as a kid i watched the hell out of it just because i didnt see how bad it was.
