Stan Musial had 3630 base hits~1815 hits at home ... 1815 hits on the road.....you couldn't do that again if you tried... Mantle respected no other player more than Musial. ~great stuff here Mike... a pleasure watching.
Wow!!! Wow!! Spectacular collection Mike. Very sweet, thank you for sharing this with us, always wondered what you had and now we see. Hope it appreciates year after year brother. Gonna make one too soon and show off my stuff as well.
Always a joy and a pleasure to watch these Mike. While I agree the dollar value isn't as important as the personal value, it is interesting to see the fluxuations in $ value. Just a beautiful collection and appreciate you in the hobby. Happy new year!
Love this video each year. Surprised on the ‘54 Bowman Mays. Great achievement on almost completing the Mantle run. Finally starting to get some of his cards as I had avoided the Mantle premium for decades. Still drool over your Wilson Franks Campy.
Amazing collection! Cool to see Trout and Harper representing a little modern too. If you’re gonna have the majority of your exposure to 1 player, Mantle is a good choice.
Absolutely loved this vid! So many beautiful cards... especially all the vintage! I posted my top ten a few weeks ago and it looks totally different than yours- it just goes to show how many awesome cards there are to strive for in the hobby!
Great Video, Mike. Collection is worth being proud of. As long as you love it, it doesn't matter if they have gone down. The Harper was big surprise. Have you ever video about the books that you keep in the background?
Hi Mike. I’ve watched your Top 50 video the last 3 or 4 years and just love it. It’s always interesting which cards move way up or way down on your list.
Absolutely love the top 50 videos! Yourself and a few others have really been an inspiration to me, as far as collecting vintage baseball cards. I need to join in on the fun and start making my own videos. Until then, I just want to say thanks for the awesome content and keep up the great work!
Mike, I absolutely loved seeing your Top 50! I counted and I have exactly 6 of the cards in your Top 50! I'm pretty stoked about that! Of course, I would love to add some more! The marathon continues! 😊
Nice display of cards Mike, love all the Mantle's in your collection. I am in the process of making my first top 50 cards in my collection video, so l am excited to see some values of my cards as I also look at prices rarely.
Been waiting for this one, knowing you've added a lot of blazers this year... Bowman Satch, sweet '53 Mantle, #61 marine green Lou, and great Leaf Stan! Man, that '51 Bowman Mick makes me jealous;) Thanks for the shout out on the '50 Bowman Jackie. Have a great weekend, Mike and thanks for sharing.
WHOA! The last sale of the Clemente was for the Clemente that I just bought!!!! It's kinda funny, because my budget was for a 3. But every single 3 that came up was selling for what comps in 4s were, and nobody was budging with offers. So I said the hell with it. I saved up a few hundred more and waited for the next well centered 4 to come up. At the last seconds I pushed all in at 3150 and won it for 3040. I was super stoked. Super iconic card that I'm extremely happy to have in my collection, and kinda fun to be indirectly involved in your video!
Brand new subscriber here and fellow baseball card collector. Very cool video, thanks for sharing! It inspired me to think about doing something similar!
What I really love about Top 50 Most Valuable videos is that it demonstrates how collections gain a real special, and unique, "feel" to them through the years and evolve as you continue to add. Of course it is nice to see the "value" of the cards go up in dollars, but this kind of lineup really is a trip down HOW you collect through the years. What you have shared is rich is all the BEST aspects!
Such a great video Mike! I really like how you put rank, value, percentage change. I might have to do that when I do my video next year. Is it annoying that your number 1 will never change? Whew, that mantle is gorgeous! So many great cards. Top 100 next year!
I would want the Mantle in a 2 in the 56 set only because that was the year Mantle was the MVP that season which is part of a project I have been working on. Some spectacular cards Mike. Happy New Year!
Incredible video my friend. That 51 Mantle just looks better and better everytime I see it. It still has a commanding lead at the top of the list. I was shook seeing Bryce Harper at #6.
Thanks Andy. I do not think the Mantle rookie will be dethroned anytime soon...unless I win the lottery. But if I win the lottery, Julie will make me spend all of the money out at the ranch. LOL
Finally had a chance to finish watching this. I didn’t know you had some of these. There’s nothing you can do to prepare me for that number one card. Wow.
Awesome collection. I’m biased towards the Wajo, but love the Ted Williams 48/49 Leaf. Great stuff! Was surprised to not see a Cobb in there, but know you aren’t as much a prewar guy! Thanks for sharing!
Very impressive, Mike. I guess I would take the 56 Mantle in a 2, since I already have the Williams in a 6. Also, hard to believe that 54 Bowman Mays has fallen that much. Probably a good time to go add one of those!
Very impressive collection. Great collection of Mantles. The Aaron Rookie is the card I want most given the price point. I will never own a 52 Topps Mantle but the Aaron is a possibility.
WOW.........WOW WOW WOW! I CAN ONLY DREAM OF OWNING A COLLECTION LIKE THIS! There is no way I would even be able to pick just 1 as my favorite, they are ALL MY FAVORITE. The Mike Trout would be my least favorite but would still love to own it. AWESOME CARDS MAN. CHEERS from Florida
The Seaver was a short print within the high series and Carew wasn’t. Both definitely more scarce than the lower series, but that’s the primary reason. This list is amazing Mike!
Mike another great video, and such an impressive collection. I can’t believe that it has been another year since you last did this. To me the lower grades are for the true collectors!
I consider you one or the very rare PRO’s out in the hobby today👏I’m sure your would be humble and disagree, but that proves my point even more, your passion is unmatched and always willing to learn new stuff. I never see you pushing cards, or product, or apps, it’s all great and fun info and I learn every time, just had to finally say something as I enjoy your videos so much haha 🔥👏
Great cards Mike, I'd rather have the mantle in a 2 than the williams in a 6. Its interesting to see cards that went down in ranking but went up in value.
I want to find some of these in the wild, don't care if they're creased or not. There's something so cool and special about these old cards. Great Stuff, thanks for sharing!
You have a fantastic collection with so many great old cards and it’s great you appreciated the card’s not for there grade’s but just for having and owning the card. You have a collector mindset more than a seller which I love I am the same I could not bring myself to sell any of my cards as I’m not worried about the value I just love having the card to look at it and enjoy, doesn’t matter if it’s a 1.5 or a gem/mint 10.
You know since that 54 Mays didn’t make your Top 50 and you have my address, I’ll just get that dud out of your way for you 😂. No shit, though, your collection is damn impressive. Thanks for the show.
Great video. I love the 2021 vs 2022 prices but not sure the last sold price is a best reference . The last 1954 Mays sold was $649. Overall the last 3-5 sales much higher than the $471 noted. Looks like you’re better off than you thought 😃
Mike just some fire !!! You know what I really enjoyed is that you shared the total value of your top 50 and included last years price. I took note of the 54' Koufax, 54' Bowman Mays, 48 49 Leaf Stan, 53 Mantle Bowman and 51 Mays RC . All just got put on my wish list. Since I have been selling like a mad man I have really been focusing on some big fish and know these have gone down a decent amount in those grades at least puts them on my radar so thank you for all that work you did. I definitely would choose the Mantle RC as my favorite but isnt that obvious ha ha ha ha. Double Shaka Dude
Excellent video and a great finish with that Mantle. I'd put that up around $40,000 with that centering; or at least $35,000. A very similar one at PSA 5 with almost identical centering sold with a best offer from the $42,000 price. For me I only collect PSA 6 or better, but it means I have no Ruths or Gehrigs or Jackie R's cards or many others. Watching your video makes me see the fun in having some of the games greatest in PSA 2's and 3's
Just build the best collection for you. If you want to add some lower grade stuff then great but if you like the way you currently do your collection then that is awesome too.
Fantastic collection! It seems like 2022 was maybe the year that the newer masses began discovering pre war cards. That and a continuing piling in on Mickey Mantle apparently haha. 53 Topps isn't necessarily my favorite 50s set (it's an awesome set don't get me wrong) but that Satchel Paige is such a sweet card, I get why it's so popular.
Vintage all day every day. Great info, shocking how much Mays went down in a year. Odd that 56 Mantle went down when others up. That Campy a beautiful card! Need to consider 15% real inflation rate too.
Its only a matter of time till you get that 1952 Topps Mantle, Mike. I think we all know that! :-) I'm really looking forward to you doing that and seeing you showcase it. As fyi, buying one is one of my favorite memories in the hobby, as I was completing my 1952 set at the National about 5 years ago or so.
I would want the 1956 mantle in a 2 then a williams in a 6….. the mick just has the shine everyone knows and wants.. demand is there… and I love the mick cards… i also want every card of his.. but of course will never get the 52 mick...
1956 Mantle has the NY Yankee effect. Yankees have always been the best sellers overall, since I have been doing shows in the 1980's. Even as a kid in the 1960's before we knew much about baseball, Mickey Mantle cards stood out, maybe because of what the older kids we knew would tell us. That being said, I would take the 1956 Williams today.
3.5% ain’t bad at all compared to what some stuff has dropped. Too bad more people didn’t listen to the “buy vintage” advice 🤷♂️ Of course some vintage has dropped but you know. You got a beautiful collection man!
A RU-vid luxury watch channel that I have watched for several years was robbed last month of more than $150k AUD - essentially his entire collection. Someone mentioned new insurance clauses that indemnify the insurance company if the victim flaunts his valuables on social media. I have never heard of this, and maybe it is not common in the US. But it made me think of people flashing valuable sports cards on RU-vid. Does anyone know about this carve out in insurance policies - is it really a thing?
Centering is everything to me when I buy cards. I even prefer lower grade centered than higher grade off centered. Since my cards are like a marriage (till death do us part), the value takes 2nd to my love of the card.
