Metal marines was the first game i picked up for my snes when i got into retro 2-3 years ago. I was so addicted to this game back in the day. Warms my hart to see it in somebody else's top 50 Thank you for your well made video
The SNES game library is full with timeless classics, and many of them still look so good! The SNES is also my favourite console, the Genesis is my second best (but it's very close). 16bit console and arcade titles of the early 90 are the best games imo!
@@Rixxan1 honestly the 64 really didn’t hold up well but most people pick what they grew up with. It’s all nostalgic. But the snes blows the 64 out the water. The ps1 was better than the 64 to. Not many games really play great today that were in the 64. So many great franchises had their worst outings on the 64, like Castlevania, Megaman, etc. their were some good games on this system to like Zelda, Paper Mario, 007. But there always was Superman😂
These games really help me stay connected to my inner child. I miss the days when I could just sit down with the brothers on a Saturday morning with some cereal and play games all morning
25:30 Holy crap, FINALLY someone who can appreciate the beauty of a 4X strategy game on a freaking retro console by putting it on the top 10, and a pretty good one too! Much more polished than the DOS version, especially when you realize you can actually use the R button to easily scroll through the map and the menus. Nice video, mate!
I can tell we're from the same generation... I subscribe every opinion, super mario kart, zelda and final fantasy having their finest moments in the snes, period! ;) I feel lucky i got to play many of them back then. Great video and, as has been said here, loads of bittersweet nostalgia too :)
This has to be the best countdown format I've ever seen. You're not speaking over the games effects yet you have a quick description of what kind of game it is and what it's about. Great job!
He should have done both, a nice script with some game play book ending the commentary. This is just a lazy generic top 50. Also he only gives a title/year/publisher not a description of the games at all.
even though i don´t agree to all the nominations, i have to say: this is the best made top50 i have seen for a long time! the ending is fabulous! :) and i love, that you chose to text instead of talking all the time. the immersion is so much bigger, when you can concentrate on the gameplay shown! Thumbs UP!!!!
+Chesco everyone's different. My choices may not be the same as yours, but this isn't "top 50 games that everyone thinks are good". As it says at the beginning. these are MY selections. I'd be shocked if every game and position on this list 100% matched anyone elses!
Kiran24 I mean I guess, but as someone who almost exclusively does multiple things at a time I like to have him saying stuff about the game so I can do other stuff while still getting him that view time and learning about great snes games
I played the heck out of Metal Marines. It's rare that I find a list on youtube filled with games that I would choose, to include the more obscure titles. Great list.
I really like your pick for the top 50. I have a lot of memories in particular with secret of mana wich I think is one of the most unique RPG ever created. Yoshi's island, yes, well crafted, superb! There are much more games than 50 but it is a top 50. Snes was the golden era of games and nothing can deny that! In the past Nintendo created the true meaning of playing games, wich is having fun with friends or to venture on a journey choosing an RPG , nowdays is totaly different but in a bad way I think, beacause these is the era of virtual reality, and this is something else...
+cravis123 There could easily be a top 250 or a top 100, but I'm not sure if people would like an hour long video or longer. I think ~30 mins is the longest anyone would watch for.
I was surprised that you chose Mega Man X3 over the original Mega Man X game. I do agree with you about Yoshi's Island though, it was miles better than Super Mario World.
👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻 It's great that you went w your choice, not the pop picks. Mine's personally 1. Link 2. Shadowrun 3. Metroid. You're the only youtuber i know that picked shadowrun at the top part of the list. Never played civ and earthbound on snes though. And yoshi's island i played on the gba, not snes.
Clock Tower 6:03 looks real nice, great graphics and animation. I didn't know anything about it. What a great sound the SNES had. It was great in everything. Great vid.
great list. just missing Street Fighter Alpha 2, Fire Power, Super Aleste, Dragon the Bruce Lee story (very underrated), Mortal Kombat 2, Donkey Kong Country 2, R-Type 3, Parodius, Smash TV, Sunset Riders, Legend of the Mystical Ninja.
+jherrenor Many of those games were extremely close to making the list. SFA2 would have made it if it wasn't for the annoying pauses in gameplay, and I'm glad I'm not the only one who thoroughly enjoyed Dragon. If I went back and added an Honorable mentions section, most of those games would definitely be showcased there!
YES on #1 ! I'm not sure that Yoshi's Island is the #1 best game, but i will say it deserves to be on someone's list as #1 because that game was and is perfection.
Oh my gosh what an amazing list. This is probably the best she's top ten list ever. Once you hit shadow run I was like... Somebody make this thing official. How do we do that?
+JazGalaxy There's no such thing as an official Top 50, it's all down to personal opinion...and that's why they're great! Every list is as different as the people who put them together.
Que pedazo de consola, es por eso que hoy día estoy mas interesado en conseguir estas joyas del pasado que por la nueva generación. Simplemente maravillosa y llena de juegos que no bajan de 8 puntos.
Nobody can agree the entire list. That's a matter of taste. But you did a really good job. I am a great fan of the SNES, it was my 1st console back in the day when it came out....and I love to see videos like this one =)
All of those TOP 50 SNES games are equally LEGENDARY to play even in 2023. FF6, SSF II and Super Mario World are undoubtedly my alltime favourite SNES games.
This is certainly an interesting list. Far from the typical SNES list but it is hard to argue with it as all those games are so great. It reminds me just how great that system was. I knew this was going to be a different list when I saw Hagane in there. If I had one criticism it is that Chrono Trigger should never be left out of the top 10 of any list.
4 titles that would end up in my top 50: Ken Griffey JR Baseball, Super Tecmo Bowl 3, Madden 94 and NHL 94. Good list though, quite a bit of games I had never heard of.
This is great! We have very similar taste and I've just started playing Earthbound about a week ago and loving it. Shadowrun was pretty dark but one of my favourites too. One not on the list that would be up there for me is Biker Mice from Mars. I did really enjoy Rock n Roll racing too which was great to see it on there.
+Alex Thomas Glad you are enjoying Earthbound, and I'm glad you loved Shadowrun! Biker Mice from Mars was considered, but on a recent playthrough, I couldn't justify putting it on my list. It was a fun game, though!
Great console, with many games I like. Well apart from the jrpg's, which aren't my cup of tea on any console, but i've enjoyed most of all the other ones you mentioned.
Kinda nice to see some different games in your top 50. Mine of course is different but I enjoy other people's tastes too. Besides, you never know what gems will be discovered!
i subscribed because your taste in games is exactly like mine and i also believe that most of the snes version of game franchises is still the best that were made!.
A lot of my top games are in there, slightly different ordering, but I can think of a few I'd make room for like Goof Troop. Great 2-player co-op puzzle solving.
I love that you didn't put Metroid or Zelda in the 1 and 2 spot. While those games are amazing and deserve those spots, every video always has them on their first two spots. It was fun trying to figure out what would be the top two games. It makes the list more personal rather than trying to appeal to the popular choices. Thanks for changing things up!
I played Yoshi's Island on the GBA when I was about eight, I raged so hard because I sucked at the game, but that's what made it one of my favorite games today, along with DKC
great video man! well put together and great selections on the game titles however, DOOM and Duke Nukem should have made the list before a couple others...
SNES Doom, while an admirable attempt, was not the best version of it's generation - that's why Doom is featured on the 32X instead of here. SNES Duke never materialized - the SNES just couldn't cope with the complex level architecture.
My favorite SNES Games are: Mortal Kombat (1, 2, 3, UMK3), Alien 3, Judge Dredd, Robocop vs. The Terminator, X-Men: Mutant Apocalypse, Killer Instinct, RoboCop 3, Star Fox, Contra III: The Alien Wars, Demolition Man, Aladdin, Doom, The Shadow, Jurassic Park 1-2, The Lawnmower Man, Cutthroat Island, Prince of Persia, Tetris Attack, Batman Returns, No Escape, Timecop, Earthbound, Street Fighter 2
Decent list although I do disagree with certain titles. Love the SNES... I think my two favourite games are Super Mario World (yes part 1) and Contra 3: The Alien Wars. Sad that NHL 94 didn't make the list. Riddick Bowe boxing is another great game, I like it more than Super Punch-Out (which I'm shocked didn't make the list)
I'm watching this video four years after it was published, but it's just as relevant now as if I had watched it the day it was put on RU-vid. Awesome. Who says obsolete doesn't have its perks?
ok, two games I have never played from this list and will now have to go play due to my new found respect for your opinion. civilization and super mario world 2. Great coverage of the 16 bit era. In my opinion the best generation of gaming. Probably due to the timing of it in my life, but maybe not, it just may be the best time to be a gamer!
+neozeed1984 Before you play Civilization, make sure you don't have anything planned for the rest of the day, as you'll be playing it for hours and hours! Yoshi's Island gets a bad reputation because of its art style and infamous "Crying Baby Mario", but honestly, the level design, morphing mechanics, and sweet touches littering the game render it as one of the greatest platform games of all time.
Nice list! Did you happen to play any of the super scope games by any chance? I had Battleclash, Metal Combat, and Yoshis Safari when I was a kid and the scope was pretty revolutionary at that time. Looking deep into the comments... nobody else asked about those games as well.
Props to you for responding to a comment from a video you made years ago. I just happen to stumble upon it! Going through a nostalgia trip right now and am grateful I saw this!
I give you respect for spending the time and making a great video of your top 50 SNES games. However I disagree with a lot of the choices and placement of some games on this list. I am not saying to be a troll or to start a heated debate. I bring it up because there are so many great games and my exposure/experience with the SNES varied from yours. This shows the variety of great games on the system that can appeal to many different people which I think emphasizes that the SNES was the greatest system ever made! ( This is my subjective opinion :P )
Warren Stevens There are literally hundreds of superb SNES games out there. Exposure to those games, and our personal tastes, are bound to differ from person to person, and we should celebrate our differences in opinion! There's no "right" or "wrong" opinions - after all, life would be boring if everyone liked exactly the same things all the time! Please make a list of your favourite games, pop 'em up on RU-vid, and we can compare and contrast our lists!
My top 10 Games (without RPG) 10. Demon's Crest 9. Turtles in Time 8. Castlevania IV 7. Mega Man X 6. Blackthorne 5. Super Mario Kart 4. Super Metroid / Donky Kong Country 3. Chaos Engine / Street Fighter 2 Turbo 2. NBA Jam T.E. 1. Super Mario World
Total class this video man, loved it. Super Metroid is my top choice, pretty contraversial to me that it isn't even top five for here :-). Yoshi's Island is quality though, but you can't beat a bit of Super Mario World for platforming, loved what you did there ;-) I like how the two games bookend the Super Nintendo's life.
As soon as I seen Wild Guns on the countdown as 50, I said "Yup, this guy knows what he's talking about." No countdown that I ever seen had Wild Guns on the countdown, but you. Most people never even heard of the game; furthermore, put it on their personal favorites for a countdown.
These are the best games on the Super Nintendo in no particular order. Wild Guns, The Ninja Warriors Once Again, Gundam Wing: Endless Duel, Pocky and Rock 1 & 2 and Harvest Moon.
I enjoy your lists and I while I don't always agree with all the choices, I see where you come from and I appreciate what you do. The Genesis list, for example, was not perfect but still pretty solid and I liked it a lot. This one, however, is VERY different from what I would choose. I'm kind of baffled, to be honest. It doesn't even look like you created it, based on your choices for other consoles.
death trap That's fantastic! Glad you enjoy the channel! I have a PC Engine / TurboGrafX-16 list coming up soon, and with the recent demise (in all but name) of Konami, I'm going to be making a Homage to them soon, too!
