The too stiff a belt mistake is so true, noticed this when I switched from a kore belt to the tenicor zero belt. Both are great belts but the zero gets the nod for AIWB for the same reasons as stated in the vid.
PHLster has done some great stuff to help make ccw a comfortable everyday thing. My ccw classes are a bit longer because of this, but everyone walks away happier. I really push this company in my classes.
I have given up on IWB. My body type and the tight fitting clothes I wear. I have decided to just carry owb around 3 o’clock and wear an under shirt with a polo.
I didn't understand the ''peaks and valleys'' concept, or concealment mechanics, until I started watching PHLster. Thanks for going through the trouble of creating this content.
I use the Tenicor Velo4 appendix holsters exclusively and I pair them with either the Tenicor Zero belt or the GrooveLife belt and for me, my body type and the pistols I carry, this combination is fantastic! When wearing gym shorts or running pants I’ll use the Mastermind Tactics specialist belt with my Tenicor holsters and it allows me to get a very comfortable and secure carry method while wearing clothing with no belt loops. Thanks for all the great information you’re providing for the new members of the community, I’ve been carrying for many years and had to go through this process by trial and error!
I just stumbled on y'all's videos, and they are incredibly helpful. Comparing the hip-to-hip distance to the height of the gun is a great way to look at #6. Curiously, I'm somewhere between 40% and 50% depending on where I measure my hip bones...but somehow I am able to conceal with minimal grip printing. I did recently add a 1 inch wedge, which increased concealability and comfort drastically. Other than that, I would guess having the extra keel from a weapon light, the right belt and belt tension, and a relatively flat gut are probably what make that possible.
The tip that helps me the most is the holster length. I was considering getting a shorter holster or even modifying the one I have to make it shorter, your point on avoiding gun tilt is well taken.
Excellent video, thanks for pulling so much info together & reinforcing that it takes time to get a good fit with AIWB. But once you do, it’s all worth the time invested.
This was amazingly helpful. I'd seen videos about concealment position (appendix vs 3 o'clock for example) and holster reviews but never anything like this on how to get the best results. Kudos!!
Wow. Ive been having problems with my 2 CC weapons in the appendix position wanting to fold out. Didn’t realize that my extra stiff belt could be the problem. Great video. Thanks
This was pretty great. Thanks for lining out some of the most common issues. Fortunately I’ve not had issues carrying appendix for two plus decades but getting my wife into carrying concealed this helps out a ton and makes it a bit easier to explain and help. Thanks.
The keel discussion, belt stiffness, and width ratio were eye opening. I’d seen the keel info before from older vids, but it was a good revisit. The question is where to measure “hip to hip.” Easy to vary by an inch or more depending on where you consider your hip, which can change that ratio by quite a bit!
what??? thats way to much trying seem smart... all you have to do is wear the belt, holster, and gun combo around the house and do daily things.. if you cant go 2 mins with out touching and adjusting you are doing it wrong...avoid putting the barrel pointing at your legs. i would avoid leather because if you are in the south like me TX. its hot and sweat like a dog.. the leather gets soft and bends.. any soft holster. you gonna shoot yourself.....
This video s a gem! Been struggling since I'm a new gun owner and I'm new to this lifestyle. I actually sold my first kydex coz I really struggled. I'm a small guy, 5'5 in height and 160lbs so I have a belly and I own a glock 19. I hope you can give me some advice. I will start watching your videos and will now subscribe. This is what I have been looking for for more than a year now. You guys are awesome!
The part talking about how you need a longer holster for shorter guns was eye opening. For summer carry I switched from a glock 17 w/ a 507c and tlr1 light to an HK vp9sk w/ a rmrCC and tlr7, and I've been wondering why it's been more uncomfortable to carry the HK than the full sized Glock! The smaller gun keeps titling forward, will try to see if a holster meant for the full VP9 is more comfortable.
I am fairly new to this world of CC, and I did not even think about all the factors you mentioned that would come into play. You are right about the order of the mistakes with giving up being the first. I will watch the links you posted shortly. Thank you for taking the time to explain the physics, body mechanics considerations in CC.
Love seeing a Woman carrying AWIB and teaching all of us about getting the correct gear so we can carry more comfortable. Lord knows men would say "Suck it up" but having a woman talk about this subject is amazingly refreshing.
I'm shaped like a 12x4 board, with nearly square corners to match. It's always been an extreme pain to conceal even my Shield. I fell like it's blatantly obvious to everyone, just from my discomfort if nothing else, that I'm carrying at the front. Wings, wedges, holsters, doesn't matter. I can always glance down and know exactly where to top of the mag and grip are on my shirt. Especially summer, I'm in the give up category. Winter is easiest with sweatshirts, jackets, coats.
I’m trying to find a holster that will work with the Enigma. These are the questions I am being asked. I have no idea what any of this means!! Yes, I understand why people give up! Maybe one day you could do a video on these questions? Attachment Method: (Required) Discreet Carry Concepts Mod 4 - Universal/Height adjustable HLR Discreet Gear Clip™ (1.5" and 1.75" ONLY)(+$10) Discreet Carry Concepts Monoblock (1.5" ONLY)(+$5) (NOT AVAILABLE FOR REVOLVERS) RCS Overhook (1.5" and 1.75" ONLY) Grip Hook (+$5) (1.75" ONLY) Tuckable Strut and Soft Loop (+$5) Genuine FOMI clip (1.5" and 1.75" ONLY) (NOT AVAILABLE FOR REVOLVERS) UltiClip Slim 3.3 (+$10) (does not require a belt) Ulti Clip (+$10) (does not require a belt) Belt Loop Size: (Required) 1.5" 1.75" Sweat Guard: (Required) No Sweat Guard (holster material stops just past trigger guard on both sides of the holster) Body-Side Only Sweat Guard (holster material extends near the end of the slide on the side facing the users body, only) Dual Sweat Guard (holster material extends near the end of the slide on both sides) Concealment Claw: (Required) Add Mod Wing ($10) No Concealment Claw
Something to consider: A small wedge helped me with printing by keeping the grip closer to my lower abdomen. The problem is that the grip is soo tight to my body that the initial contact and purchase on the weapon is much more limited. The initial thumb grip deep into the beaver tail in particular.
@@PHLster I think i can customize the size of the wedge to get different results. I like that kind of fussy work anyway. I just ordered a hip pack(fanny pack) from Earthseed Equipment. My wife messed around with the "belly band" option and they are terrible. Her fanny pack was made to order and came out fantastic. Mine should be in soon. Are you guys aware of this company? Check 'em out!
DD Bra size Woman with shory frame. Im struggling to fit my Max9 Ruger 9mm....ideas? i love love this video. i will keep trying to find my best concealment.
Unfortunately for people like my with a nice gut, we have to really tuk that gun below or gut which means it need to be low which its a whole another way of draw but practice make it easy, i love carrying appendix and have learn how to position my holster in a way that wont bother me while i seat, bend down or drive, so not all of us can position the gun higher up
Longer holster? I get the idea and have those uncomfortable problems but I get a holster made for the gun, a 43x holster for a 43x unless it won’t fit the holster securely?
I liked the math part showing the percentage because I can now see how I am carrying and if it really works. I like appendix carry but am having trouble finding a holster. I want Kydex for a sig sauer P365 (.380) with a TR 27 aramalaser laser attached. Can't find one. If anyone here knows where I can get this please advise. Thx.
Great video. Question? Where am I supposed to find a holster that is long enough? If I’m carrying the 365 where can I find a holster that’s long enough and how much space should be between the barrel and the end of the holster. Everyone is different and it’s not like I can send a holster maker my measurements and they can custom make a holster that’s long enough or is there? If Phlster starts making them I deserve a cut.
@@PHLster I figured you’d say that. I have 3 Enigmas plus every other holster you can think of. Still try to find that one that’s right for me. I’ve got the dad body plus about 20lbs. I want to carry appendix but I’m not sure it’s in the cards for me. Right now I carry my 365 or 42 in a Alabama pocket holster. If and when I get rid of this dad body I’m hoping to move to one of my Enigmas.
wow! just found your channel. i was going to ask if you were old enough to own a weapon. you said you and your husband, so that answered that question. now, appendix carry, in my opinion is slightly to the left or right of your middle.(being a guy, i am not pointing that thing towards my johnson) i carry an LCP 2--22 caliber every day. even in Florida i wear long baggy shirts, or a cover garment. i can ride my motorcycle with my pistol in appendix, and sometimes forget i have it. neat video, folks do need to figure what size, caliber of gun for proper concealment. just because someone says you need a ,44 magnum doesn't mean you can carry concealed properly. you have to be able to bend, turn, and function as if you are not armed. well, i have rattled enough. good video.
I'm 5.10 215 lbs how do I keep my gun from butt/grip from poking out. I've tried all different ways and use a golck 19. Do I need looser clothes or just to loose weight. 😆 🤣 😂 but for real what do I need to do.
Start here ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-7pMkJ3SEU2o.html And then check out the rest of our related videos and the PHLster Concealment Workshop Facebook group. You'll probably wind up needing to add a wedge to your holster.
"Remember when that FBI man did a backflip? Well when he did a dancing backflip, haha? Remember, he got embarrassed his gun popped out, and then shot a guy???? HAHAHA. Man, that was a Awesome."🤣😂🤣😂🙃
“Hope nobody notices” isn’t a transferable methodology for eliminating the signature of a pistol. Betting that nobody notices isn’t a way to actually be in control of the visible presence of a pistol.
The keel principle is very important. I recently changed from a P365 to the P365 X-MACRO with a red dot for EDC and it's actually easier and more comfortable to carry the bigger gun. I have Enigmas for both, so the holster system was apples to apples. I may get a P365 XL holster for my P365 to make it more comfortable.
My problem is that my belt puts pressure on the magazine, and I’m worried that that’s going to wear and tear on the Mag release and eventually break the gun
I’m not sure of this one but I use a neon green AIW holster from Haven Defense in Colorado. Excellent quality and holds my G19 securely with perfect concealment.
Team Member- I'm looking for a carry and conceal belt. I saw your preference briefly in the video- you were holding. Question; what kind of belt was that ?! I found a Kore Essentials carry and conceal belt- but I might think its to STIFF like you mentioned to avoid in your video. Thank You- Sean
Okay, so I have a question for anyone who carries appendix. Do your sights dig into your stomach? I have a a good bit of belly, and wether I carry my gun high up ie. rear sights above my tactical muffin top or low, ie below said pooch, the metal sights irritate my stomach. Not enough to cause me to change carry positions, but enough that it’s red and itchy by the time I take my gun off 12-16 hours later. Any suggestions? Do I need to get a holster with a wing? Edit: P365XL w/ macro mag, in a bravo concealment holster.
There is another video by these folk ms where its an introductory to appendix carry. This lady is very informative and give some advice on what you can do to remedy your situation. Good luck
Thanks, i've been struggling a little bit finding a way to comfortably carry, the conceal isn't really a problem, its the hotspots that are getting irritating and struggling with mobility while carrying having to sit alot. Standing is no problem its when seated things get irritating.
Discomfort while seated can be rooted in a couple of different issues. This video should be a huge help for diagnosing and fixing that problem! ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-4_OXyli4ecU.html
@PHLster i have a critique after wearing this for about a year 5-6 days a week. 1. can you make the belt a strong elastic , i feel like that would make it more comfortable so the belt can stretch with elastic and move with the body like if i squat to pick something off the ground it stretches but when im standing it stays tight and when im sitting it stretches also just like any elastic belt. 2. the leash should also be elastic and be able to stretch because im 5'7'' but my thighs arent thick so the leg leash slips down and you can see it sometimes hang out my shorts. and if i tighten the leg leash it constricts when im standing upright.
If the elastic is softer, and if the leg leash is elastic, then there’s a substantially increased probability of the holster moving vertically quite a bit when you draw the pistol. These two elements keep the holster anchored in place during fights and other strenuous activity. We tested it both ways, and found it to be substantially less safe, reliable, and durable with increased stretch in the system. Check out the instructions section of our website for more tips on leg leash adjustment to prevent the issue you’re having.
They have a sport belt now that is more comfortable without losing the mechanics of a stable gun. Also some people commented the bought a softer material leg strap that works as well. In the video Introduction to appendage carry, there is a comment from a guy who tells where u can get leg strap & he bought the sport belt and is much happier and more comfortable with it.
Big dawgs actually have an easier time concealing.. Just need a low riding holster that lets the gun sit below your gut. Not as easy on the draw.. but it works.
