Yes. Alden has a wife. However, lots of queer people, especially back then, married people of the opposite sex so they wouldn't be targeted, questioned or killed. It still happens today. Marrying someone of the opposite sex doesn't make you straight. It's protecting yourself.
The Murfree Brood gay's in both clips are the same people - just in different locations. Their dialogue is the same. I'm not sure you can actually confirm that Mr. Black and Mr. White are gay. Sure, they have a comradie about them, but then they were on the same chain gang, and shared the same cell, but that don't mean that they are gay. ALDEN is definitely batting for the other team, and the guy at Butcher Creek, well, he all might just be 'gentle' and that ain't the same as frisky after dark, y'hear? As for SONNY, he just likes to hurt and degrade folk. Psychologically speaking it's all about the pain he inflicts on others, with emphasis on men because men are so easily hurt when they are sodomized - and in the macho world of the 1890's, Arthur's brutalizing isn't necessarily a gay encounter. Your basis for Alden being gay is: he puts X's on his notes and he speaks theatrically. Which is not that uncommon or a seal of homosexuality. I love reddead but rockstar whitewashed the west vastly. Many people escaped to the "new world" in hopes of being able to express themselves. There were a lot of open homosexuals and what were called cross dressers at the time. But I think even rockstar wasn't that dense to have the intention of Mr. B and Mr. W just being good friends 🤦♀️

It's strange that you can notice that Alden is gay which is much less shown and not exactly confirmed but you didn't noticed that with Black and White which is like dude, they are confirmed to be gay, it's pretty obvious from the very first interaction if you pay attention, Arthur notices that from the second interaction and also advices them to be careful about it. And if that wasn't obvious enough for you, literally the last time you meet them it's pretty much confirmed that they are indeed gay.

I don’t know if they were really trying to have gay representation, considering that it was punishable by jail time as of 1885, people probably would do vigilante justice upon you if you were open, and that it was seen as a mental illness until the ‘50s.
