Thanks for the kind words. I'm looking forward to our water clarity improving over the last few weeks, then we will get some spearfishing videos done! Thanks for watching.
I appreciate the effort you put into these videos, they are really informative. I winter on Big Pine but haven’t explored nearly enough and your videos push me to get out there more next year.. What depths is the Tarpon creek? I’ve got a 22 foot bay boat that drafts about 13”
Thanks for the note @davidsalmon4390 . Everyone can get complacent with their daily routines, sometimes I really need to push myself to get out on the water and explore new places. I try to get out on or in the water everyday, even if its just taking the paddleboard out on the bay just to watch the sunsets. Being on Big Pine Key is a great place to be, easy access to so many spots. As for as Tarpon Creek goes, your Bay Boat should be good, just go at high tide the first time through to test it out. The good thing is if you enter from the channel connecting Cudjoe Bay to Sugarloaf Bay it starts out deep and gradually gets shallower so if you start to get worried you can always turn around and go back the way you came. Thanks for watching!
John, yes they are part of the Coupon Bight Aquatic Preserve. However, these are the listed allowed activities within the area: Activities within the aquatic preserve include boating, snorkeling, diving, commercial fishing, marine life collecting, charter sport fishing and recreational fishing for finfish and lobster. Thanks for watching.
We do a little spear fishing, mainly for mutton and yellowtail. We've been busy with Mahi season and now getting ready for lobster season to open. We will have a few episodes dedicated to spearfishing shortly after lobster season begins. Thanks so much for watching.
