Honestly a game changer for me was putting petrolatum under the thin skin below my eyes before I go to sleep, and then using the vanicream lip spf around my eyes during the day. I used to have really dark (edit: and puffy) under eyes but that's helped protect them from everyday irritants. PLUS: HOT TIP. The vanicream lip spf leaves a *slight* white cast so for me it sort of lightens the skin under my eyes during the day 🥰 unintended hack lol

So I'm watching Dr Maxfield on Doctorly and someone asks if Dr Maxfield and Dr Shah can do a collab video with our wonderful Dr Dray and he says he'd love that. Oh my goodness can you imagine that!!! ❤️❤️❤️
@db-gb5xi
@db-gb5xi 2 года назад
I doubt everyone would be excited about it though. I've seen some of the comments in Doctorly when anyone suggests that Dr Dray or even another doctor might have a video on something the person is asking about. But I think collab videos are a good thing.

@@db-gb5xi I think I know what you mean. The internet is a strange place Some comments I see contain real vitriol when the individual is faced with a differing point of view or even proven facts that contradict beliefs- and there's a very strange overprotection and overdefensiveness from some 'fans' amongst other strange phenomena we only see on the internet. Some people just troll unnecessarily. However, I think our favourite 'RU-vid' derms are pretty thick skinned and don't pay the trolls any mind. Luckily I think those of us who would really enjoy such a collab appreciate the conversation and content and I also think collabs present a respect, a sense of community and a united front and genuinely get very positive feedback. My aunt always used Vaseline on her body neck and face after she showered at night. It was inexpensive and it worked! She had dry skin, but her skin was lovely. I also believe that one should keep a simple skincare routine. I've only been using a cleanser, moisturiser and a sunscreen. My skin was totally fine, but I struggle with some acne and postinflammatory hyperpigmentation (also some texture along my jawline and on my forehead) on the lower part of my face for a year now. Therefore, I don't think it's bad to incorporate one or a few more products depending on your skin concern. I just started using azelaic acid a week ago and it works amazing. In just a few days there are fewer pimples, especially those pus filled pimples. Btw. I have oily, but really dehydrated, acne-prone skin.
@janejustin1788

They should make retinol, retinA and all those prescription creams available for us to purchase online or over the counter. The demand has been too high lately with all the information out there and most of us do not have health coverage to go see a doctor or even fill a prescription. I know that a lot of people order from affordable Indian pharmacy online but I believe the shipping cost is high and honestly I"m all always hesitant in giving out my credit info to any overseas company. But the greedy American pharmaceutical companies have their claws too deep in our pockets. It's getting tiresome.

I love hearing you sing the praises of petrolatum - I've used it for decades on my lips, on cuts (I noticed that it stopped cuts from drying out and starting to bleed all over again,) occasional burns (I used to be dangerous to myself around clothes irons!) and on hands and feet (with gloves and socks) as a night time treatment, especially in the winter. When I was younger I only used it very sparingly on my face as I thought it might be comedogenic (before you could google such information,) and then once the 'beauty industry' tried to sell everyone on the idea that it was unsafe I felt bad about using it but I still did because it's always worked for me, lol. I still get caught up in the hype of various new 'miracle' ingredients and still want to believe in miracles - especially now that I'm in my late 50s - but your videos have really helped me be more informed when I read ingredient lists. And I never buy any skin care without reading ingredient lists. I have a whole playlist of your videos saved for products to look for when shopping. (I admit I've overpaid for many products that I am going to use up before buying things I've seen you suggest that are much cheaper...and probably better formulations!) Thanks again!

Certain diseases (including auto-immune) have their signature skin problems, dermatologists just memorise them and if something looks like it could be that, they ask follow up questions and potentially send the patient to the appropriate specialist to confirm or deny this diagnosis.

I can testify to niacinamide's anti-acne power. Using niacinamide as my only active (4-5%) has kept me 99% acne-free (I have moderate cystic acne at baseline). Of course, not everyone will have the same experience, but it's definitely worth incorporating to see if it helps. Unfortunately for me, I am sensitive to it, so it gives me some redness and irritation even as it clears my skin. Ultimately, I had to pursue something else. But that doesn't make niacinamide any less effective, and most people will tolerate it just fine. Good luck!

@@maryarmstrong615 Sure! It's not so much that it was just the products that Dr. Dray recommended though - a lot of her lifestyle tips and her usage tips were so helpful. I started using sunscreen because of Dr. Dray! I had no idea UV was making my PIH so bad. I wish I knew this sooner, and the new PIH that occurred after regular sunscreen use no longer lingered as long. I no longer use fragrance in any of my products, including hair care and laundry detergent. I no longer use a face towel as they are filled with bacteria and could worsen my already bad acne. I no longer use soap on my body. I use soap-free body washes, and I only wash the skin folds instead of my whole body. Oh and I love the whole Eucerin line. Cerave is great too, but I prefer the consistency of Eucerin creams. All of these tips didn't help get rid of my eczema, but they helped to not worsen anything. I used to use soaps with fragrances and they would sting so badly on my eczema. I thought that was inevitable, so I never changed any of that. I'm still getting flare ups that only steroids can get rid of completely. But as for the products that Dr. Dray has recommended, I've used and loved SkinSmart spray, Procure Rosacare hydrogel, Aveeno Calm and Restore gel, Kose sunscreen, Aveeno skin relief body wash, No Nothing shampoos and conditioners, Neutrogena body oil, Krave Matcha cleanser, I'm From Rice Toner, CosRx Cica Serum, and LRP Cicaplast balm. Keep in mind, I'm not using all these products at once. Just things I've used and liked based on her recommendations. I also starting using Tretinoin confidently using her tips. My acne is much better! I'm looking to incorporate antioxidants now and I'm so interested in the Regimen Lab Vitamin X she recently reviewed.

I’ve been using Aveeno Baby Eczema Therapy Moisturizing Cream as my nighttime moisturizer on top of Differin Gel. I started using it after my grandsons were born and we received some free samples.

I had forgotten about vanicream lip care for the eyes!! That was why I had bought it in first place! Lol 😆 Starting that tomorrow morning! Dr Dray- do you think spf 30 is enough on face? My cerave face sunscreen and eucerin body cream are both 30 spf . I use that daily while inside. Obviously if I'm actually being outside all day I do a 50. Thank you for another great video

Thanks for the great video like always, Dr. Dray. Question: I know you’ve said that uv cameras are helpful in seeing how well you’ve applied sunscreen but not at how effective the sunscreen is, so could it be useful in seeing how well it sticks to the skin through out the day, or checking where it has rubbed off and needs reapplying?

I used iherb for years and always pleased with quality and variety’s of the products they carry. As of my skin routine, I truly keep it minimal. And when I want to check a product, no other one than Andra does it better in giving adequate and accurate information. I come here on daily basis because I undoubtedly know that I will sleep smarter. Thank you Dr Dray

I recommend marukyu koyamaen’s 🍵 *MATCHA* if you can find them. There are thin tea, thick tea, and the ones for baking. Choose the thin tea (or usucha) for the more common matcha experience you get everywhere, thick tea is prepared to look similar to espresso. There are also different “grades” or models of usucha, there is an official chart, and the price reflects that. Choose a better usucha and you will get a wonderful matcha experience. If you can, get a bamboo whisk, a sieve for matcha and use 80C water.

hello Andreea Greetings from Romania (Eastern Europe). In our country this name is very often used, I thought your family has something to do with this area, maybe? I'm glad to follow you, and for Neutrogena, we have here a version of cream with retinol-cellular boost concentrate-write retinol in ingredients (made in France), I chose because of your trust in the brand-it's very good, thank you!

Hi, Dr. Dray. I have been struggling with oral lichen planus off and on now for a number of years. I am seeing a GP, dermatologist, dentist, and periodontist at the present time…not an immunologist yet; however, that may happen soon since lichen planus is an autoimmune disorder. I was wondering if you would consider doing a video on lichen planus. I am sure that you see it on other parts of the body quite a bit. I am interested how to protect my oral micro biome, and regulate the ph balance in my mouth. Perhaps if I understood more about how dermatologists treat the disease on the skin, it might help me (as well as others who have or might have lichen planus). Thanks so much for your consideration and your consistently informative content!

LRP hydrating gentle and, LRP sulfate free cleanser, LRP Double Moisturizer I'm looking at you. Their niacinamide percentage is too high I think. Those products irritate my face so bad. 😔 Rosacea here. My 2 favorite ingredients. Licorice root extract and Centella Asiatica.🙌

Hi Dr. Dray, you have mentioned in other videos that you only use body wash when you’ve worn water-resistant sunscreen on your body, but it also seems like you regularly wear sunscreen on your body. My question is, do you end up using body wash regularly then? And even double cleansing the body to get all the water-resistant sunscreen off? Thanks!
