I've always been a fan and used Dolomite but recently I switched to Cathedral. Since you can adjust the settings, I found it to be really good and paired with Northern Realistic Clouds. I find my self taking pictures constantly!

I started out using Obsidian but for last 2 weeks been using NAT and so far, like it better. It would be nice to see framerates in a comparison for a change.

The best in pure art I love cathedral/obsidian but considering they were both worked on by the same people understandable. The best one in terms of graphics and detail is by far NAT, insanely detailed to the smallest things. Vivid had the best color contrasts but it didn't fit certain moods, was too bright and vice versa obsidians was too dark. Imo cathedral and Nat are the top 2.

I love all the customization that Vivid has in mcm menu, for indoors, outdoors, night brightens etc.. and general look so much, but it really washes out the sky and kills all the cloud textures it's annoying

For a moment i had vivid weathers... but swtiched to Cathedral. Now I am confused which ENB to take to Cathedral... More realistic Rudy or fantasy colorful Re-engaged? Both are good in different ways...

I use Cathedral mainly for the simplicity of having multiple mods written by the same reliable authors, and everyone having patches for it. Basically Cathedral Weathers and Landscape with Silent Horizons, Wet and Cold, etc. all with Cathedral patches. Next I'm going to try Cathedral Luminosity with Relighting Skyrim SE for interiors only. After that I may be done with lighting. I have about 85 mods running stable right now. Just got an MSI laptop with an RTX 3060 :-)

Does anyone know of a good rain mod that just changes the rain drops that works on Xbox? I just installed a mod bundle called “paradise weathers” that combines multiple weather/ atmosphere mods into one combo and I like everything about if besides the rain textures. It uses lucid rain for the rain texture and it doesn’t look right. The other aspects of the bundle look great though. Any suggestions would be appreciated.

cathedral and obisidian are really similar, only difference is that far away cathedral is much more clear and sharp where obsidian uses blur and fog

Cathedral, Obsidian, NaT in that order. -Cathedral is the best all around and gets extra points cause it’s customizable. -Obsidian is a pretty close second. -NaT gets third because again, it’s customizable. -CoT comes in 4th. It’s just too gray imo. -Vivid comes 5th. Decent just inferior to the top 4. -dolomite is last. Just seems to red at some points.

I think Nat is better because it is more realistic than the others. But id also give credit to Vivid for bringing out the color and cathedral for giving a clear atmosphere

Best rain: NAT>Obsidian>Cathedral Best ground fogs: Vivid Best looking blue sky: Dolomite>Obsidian Best night: NAT>Dolomite>Cathedral Best med-heavy snow weather: NAT>Obsidian>Vivid Best rainy overcast: NAT=Obsidian Most bright fantasy look: Vivid>Dolomite Most natural look: NAT>Dolomite>Vivid Most natural sun: NAT>Dolomite>Vivid Most natural & balanced look: NAT Most rustic look: Cathedral>Obsidian>NAT Most rustic & balanced look: Obsidian I think the best overall weather is NAT. It's so well balanced and natural looking with a touch of rustic fantasy; imo perfect for the setting of Skyrim. Second favorite is Obsidian: very balanced and a bit more rustic than NAT without any offensive weathers. Cathedral has a really cool rustic fantasy vibe going on and all of its weathers are pretty well balanced but it does seem slightly washed out (not enough contrast?). Was surprised by how nice Vivid is. I think if you can fix its rain and tone down the red/orange tones, it would make for an excellent natural/slightly bright fantasy option. The absolute worst is COT - it's surprising how inferior it is to LE's COT.

I'm a bit disappointed that pretty much every Skyrim SE weather mod diminishes the vanilla game's volumetric fog/godray effect to the point that it's barely even noticeable, so I've been using nothing but True Storms lately. I may have to tamper with a few weather mods in SSEEdit to beef the volumetric THICCness up a bit because the lack of variety from the vanilla weather is killing me, though.

@Jeremiah Burgan I eventually settled for Cathedral Weathers, edited it to use True Storms audio and beefed up the volumetric-ness of a few weathers, it's like the Skyrim weather mod that I've always wanted now.

if you have a good enb, no need for any weather mod. Because weather mods look like only changing fog layer opacity and fog layer color curve. Enb includes same settings. Choose a good enb no need extra mods. For example Cheff's Delicious ENB Preset

@@WazaLang does it change lights in the game or color contrast? I just want a mod that will make rain more inense and maybe add some new interior sounds, i dont mind changing storms too but bot light, colors or anything else

@@ruslanmamedaliyev3912 I would think no. That should be determined by your Weather Mod alone. But true storms will def increase the amount of rain. I'm honestly not 100% sure if it leaves your lighting alone but really....would it be so bad if it dropped the lighting? Seems immersive to me 🤷‍♂️

@@WazaLang i dont like making my game darker or lighter than it was disegned by developers Especially i dont like making it darker Becauae seeing bandits feeling themselves comfortable in dark forts or dungeons while i have to use torchs or mage lights, that is not immersive to me It would be immersive if other npc had to use torchs and mage lights to see in dark dungeons except vampires, werewolves and other creatures who can see well in the dark

I'm modder and have tested all weathers with enabled all options - personally. The best weather overhaul always was and still are - cot. On this video is very noticeable that the author does not like this mod and specifically disabled enb + tamriel truestorms + all fixes on weather from cot. Enable all them and compare weathers again.

@@WazaLang My answer will be short: CoT is not single mod. If people install CoT, must be installed 5+ mods from the pack (cot weathers, cot storms, cot thunder, cot weather fix, enb for cot). Don't compare only 20% of cot. It is the same, that to install Real Vision ENB but not install list of mods, which author of the realvision recommends as must have as addition to his enb that to receive top picture.

For me, personally, Obsidian (with True Storms) remains the best, followed closely by NAT. I've tried others in the past, and I installed Cathedral on my previous install. A lot of people claim Cathedral is the successor to Obsidian... but, I disagree. Cathedral does some things well (sunsets and sunrises, for example), but, overall, I found it quite flat and washed out. Interiors were too dark (I needed to turn on my lantern while in the LotD museum at high noon), and exteriors lack a dynamic, alive feel. Also.. Cathedral doesn't have extensive ENB support, and was actually designed to not use them. I had to tinker extensively with light settings and light mods, and I had to install Imaginator to even approach Obsidian's quality directly out of the box... this time around, it wasn't even something I had to think about; I returned to Obsidian and haven't looked back.

COT is so bad.. why not include picturesque / aequinoctium instead? it's from the author of Vivid and those two are probably the best weather mods out there right now (besides Obsidian , Vivid and various weather "mash ups" such as Kyne's Weathers)

DARKSYNTH0 Obviously too many weather mods to cover all at once so I made my decision based on popularity and number of downloads alone, and kept my own personal opinion out of it. Hence the use of the word TOP, not best, or my favourite 👍

All of them look shit imo.COT looks the best but is absolutely unnecessary since it's identical to vanilla SSE. The others are all either too dark, lose too much detail, or are oversaturated. I think Obsidian or Vivid are probably the best out of them but they are still worse than vanilla. Can't there be a weather mod, that's just slightly more scenic than vanilla without making the lighting abhorrently ugly?

Based on this video, CoT only affects weather, whereas the other mods affect many other things. In most images, Vanilla and CoT are identical. However, in rain and snow, a subtle difference is noticeable. I like to keep things close to vanilla because I love the tone that Bethesda already set with this game. For that reason, I like CoT better than the others, because others are changing or flat-out removing the vanilla atmosphere. Another commenter noted that many CoT options were disabled for this video, so it might be worth looking into that. That's what I'll be doing now. :)
