The 2025 Nissan Kicks has undergone a redesign that brings fresh air while keeping its budget-friendly, fun-to-drive nature.
The new model listened to the previous criticisms of its underwhelming performance by replacing the old 1.6-liter four-cylinder engine with a new 2.0-liter engine. This new powertrain generates 141 horsepower and 140 lb-ft of torque, marking a 20-hp and 26-lb-ft increase over the previous engine. The new Kicks also features continuously variable transmission that delivers power to the front wheels as standard, or all four wheels if the optional AWD is selected. For the first time, the AWD models come with an additional Snow drive mode, complementing the existing Normal, Eco, and Sport modes.
The new Kicks has also seen an increase in dimensions, growing 2.8 inches in length to a total of 171.9 inches. The wheelbase has been extended by at least 1.5 inches and reached 104.6 inches with front-wheel drive and about 105 inches with all-wheel drive. The width has also increased by 1.6 inches to 71 inches with a slight rise in height. The front seats are designed for comfort with Nissan’s “zero gravity” seat design, which offers plenty of adjustability. While the front seats provide solid comfort, the cargo space is generous, particularly in the FWD models, which offer 30.0 cubic feet of space behind the 60:40-split rear seats and up to 60.0 cubic feet with the seats folded down. The AWD models offer slightly less cargo capacity, with 23.9 cubic feet behind the rear seats and 50.1 cubic feet with them down. Most trims except the base S feature a hidden storage area under the cargo floor.

Now, let’s take a quick look at the interior. The new interior features horizontal flat display screens angled slightly towards the driver for improved visibility. The steering wheel is flat-bottomed and matches the dashboard's stitching. There are now rectangular vents that align with the long and low dashboard replacing the previous circular vents. Despite modern updates, the Kicks retains a traditional mechanical shift lever, and the console now has bigger cupholders. The door pockets have also been enlarged.
