Man, the Ultra Max 400 is so nice! I love a clean, sharp film look without noticeable grain even at strong/large. I‘ve created my own Ultra Max 800 recipe on my X-Pro3 based on LR presets.

@@crabicurious Here‘s mine: - Film simulation is Classic Neg, although sometimes I‘m torn between CN and CC - Grain: off or weak depending on the feeling - CCR: off CCB: weak - H: 0 S:-1 C:+2 - Sh: -2 - NR: -1 WB: Daylight R: 0 B: -5 Have fun. Your images are really great with the recipes you used. And the music: superb! I‘m a musician myself and appreciate the extra effort!

Awesome photos! I just got my X100V....I'm thinking about getting either the Cinebloom filter from Moment or the Black Pro Mist from Tiffen. Are all these photos taken with the filter as well?

A lot of these are taken with cinebloom or Glimmerglass but not all. I have several videos on my channel though that are exclusively shot on those filters

Really nice video. If I could suggest some feedback? I personally felt the music a bit stressful and fast. Also, I wasn't sure what pictures were part of what film simulation category at times. And the random videos felt uneeded. Less is more. music and visually speaking. Keep up the good videos.

Thank you! The recipe calls for strong grain, but I've definitely been utilizing WEAK and SMALL as I now really use this as my default SOCC recipe 90% of the time.

The 20 for me was unusable. Way too much. I used the 10 90% of the time. And since buying the Glimmerglass 1 - I only use that one. Even more subtle than cinebloom 10

100% ultra max. I shoot raw+jpg and that’s almost always my default.

@@crabicurious Oh definitely. Got to try those recipes! Probably not with the 100V though, since they’re somehow impossible to find here in Copenhagen. And by now the wife is definitely aware of the rapid progression in camera tech - she’ll suspect I’ll be pining for the next version of the X100 too whenever that comes out (which is totally true). Btw, the music from the Ultramax section is such an earworm, and the part where you cut to match the beat is so good it’s art. Thanks again for a great video!

I keep seeing the ISO setting, like “ISO: Auto, up to 6400” but I don’t see an ISO setting along the others in the same menu section. Does this mean I just need to memorize the ISO setting for each simulation I use and input it manually whenever I shoot with said simulation?

It’s just saying you can use it up to 6400 and it retains its “look” I think. The iso doesn’t affect the look but maybe behind 6400 you’ll start to see the ISO digital grain or color noise which might increase the grain look, but I wouldn’t worry about that and instead just try to keep it 6400 or below.

No unfortunately you can’t use the recipes in video mode on the Fuji. You can only use the base film simulation but not all the other aspects (at least that’s my understanding). Video was shot with all kinds of different cameras and settings for this one.

All are jpeg. About half are SOCC but half I selected using the fuji raw studio to showcase my favorite recipes after a few years, but it uses the camera to process photos so would be equivalent to SOCC (straight out of camera)

Haha I love classic neg! Use it when I shoot raw and select my Fuji film simulation in post in Lightroom. But haven’t seen a lot of recipes that make use of it 🤔 wonder why that is

this kodak portra 400 recipe looks like regular astia or whatever but nothing even close to portra film, try portra 160 - it's much closer to the portra 400 film

Zerohour was nice. Fujiweekly recipes are generally terrible. They're all the same and needlessly force in classic chrome or classic neg where it doesn't belong. Ultramax is known for being yellow and blue, not red and cyan. Portra is pastel not hard and hazy. The only time they get even in the ball park of the right colour is for Kodachrome. Everything else is just a bad white balance.
