Alohaaa Much Love Coming home soon been away for sooo long I cant wait to come to da aina this video helps out alot cause I been away for so long great content great vibes stay blessed aloha
I loved Moon and turtle in Hilo, absolutely unreal. Coming from the UK, I was so excited to see how the cuisine would be. Moon and Turtle is one of the best places I’ve eaten.
Thank you for the recommendations! I have both places bookmarked now. Planning to explore more of the island especially the Hilo side on our next visit! mahalo!
Don't forget Managos! For Hilo side, I'd recommend tex drive in malasadas, Hilo lunch shop or Kawamotos (take out lunch cause no seating, and always long line), cafe 100 for loco mocos only, Le umu in Keaau if you like try something different (samoan food), mt view bakery (sometimes they close so call before hand), and KMC bowling alley for cheap eats in volcano national park for the little one to unwind in the gameroom.
What do you like about Ken's Pancake House? I mean it's nice that they're the only game in town late at night and I have lots of fond memories eating there after last call at the bars but the food is just average. I mean pancakes are good and I always thought their real crab meat omelet was great but Hawaiian Style basically beats them out for just about everything other than hours open.
@@skynsidhawaii Some nice suggestions. I'm a little surprised about Cafe 100. I mean since I grew up in Hilo I'm pretty proud of it being the home of the loco moco but I always thought theirs was stuck in the past and very average. Other side of the island but Big Island Grill had awesome ones. I remember I liked Hawaiian Style Cafe as well and I believe it was Kuhio Grill with the fried rice version. But to each their own and I know I'm in the minority when it comes to Cafe 100.
I spent many a day at Hapuna beach as a kid long before many resorts were there, but of all of the hotels mauna lani resort has to be my favorite….. nice to reminisce. Thank you ! Aloha
We’re definitely checking these places out on our next trip to “da big island”…We were just there three weeks ago and we’re talking about going back again in early Dec. as a gift to my wife and I for Christmas …We love the food,,,the people and the Hawaiian hospitality…
No one should miss the authentic Japanese Taiyaki (called O’z Kitchen, so new don’t have a google page yet) in Captain Cook. Same spot as Randy’s Huli chicken except Thursday and Friday. Their Taiyaki is the most delicious food I had during my three-week vacation on Big Island.
When I lived on the big island, we used to go to the canoe House and stay at Mauna lani, that’s when Alan Wong was head chef… opaka’paka pasta with asparagus and Chinese black beans. That was 28 years ago….
🌈🌴Aloha from Captain Cook really enjoyed your travel log. Next time.maybe try wear leis and put a flower 🌺 plumeria known as frangipane...every wear else in the young girl's hair. Aloha 🌈🌴
Thanks for the great video. Really like your narration. I'll have to try Canoe House for a special dinner when I move back to Hawaii Island. Small advisement. It's pronounced Poh-Kay. Not Pokee. :) just so you know.
You should definitely go, it's a great place. I've been a couple of time over the years and would rate it pretty high. Also, Pokee was getting to me as well! :)
What about Merimans ya?! Or San Sei in the queens shops in waikoloa?! I would say KPC but nahhh lol they arent what they use to be sadly. Speaking of broke da mouth, the brewery!!! I agree with you there! Very good!
My sister actually got married at the lava lava beach club in 2015! My fiance and I tried to do the same thing for next year but they unfortunately only offer a full restaurant lease out now :( great place tho lol
Thank you so much!!! We LOVE the Canoe House. If I could afford it, I would eat there everyday! ☺️ we’ll be back on the Big Island in August, so hope to get more content on things to do and more good foods to eat then. Enjoy you’re trip!!!
I believe it’s in the same area, but different resort entirely. I believe the Mauna Lani Point is more condo style rentals and the decor is different for each unit, but they have a kitchen and even washer / dryers in each unit. Mauna Lani Resort is run by Auberge and is more of a high end resort.
Aloha cuz! Was just looking up new places to eat and came across your video! Lol!! We are coming to the Big Island beginning of June! Another restaurant for you to try if you haven’t already is Sensei in Waikoloa Village.....so ono!!!
Michelle!!! Happy you found us! Thx for the recommendation. Bookmarking it for when we go back in August with the fam! Have fun out there in June! Wish we were going at the same time! Let us know any new places you discover. ♥️ send our love to the rest of the fam! P.S. Erick wants to know if Mark and Matthew are the only ones who golf? and when should we book a family tee time ☺️
LOve your vid but I wanted to let you know that poke is pronounced pokay) when you say pokey you're saying d!ck in the Samoan language. Makes for a funny vid segment, just sub the word every time you say pokey. ROTFL
Mahalo!!! Thank you so much for the heads up! I honestly don’t even know why I was pronouncing it that way! Yikes! “Da Pokey Shack” 😳 LOL but just gotta laugh it off at this point. I tried to see if i can edit the video, but I can’t without deleting it entirely. I will have to make sure to address it in the next video. Thank you again!
Hale I'a The Fish House is actually in Kawaiihae and not Kamuela, and you certainly mispronounced Poke. I'm surprised Meridia didn't make your list, it's the best restaurant on the island.
Great vid, but you gotta pronounce some of the things you mentioned correctly: Kailua is not pronounced like Kahlua the liquor. And poke is not pokeeh. Otherwise, nice video
Overall the video is ok. I cringe hearing the local and Hawaiian words being destroyed. Please learn the proper way to pronounce, “kailua” and “poke” just to name a couple. 🤦🏻♂️🤦🏻♂️
