What are some of the most fun things to do there. My wife and her mother are going to be visiting next week and only stay one night. If you only had one evening and a day, what would you do at Ft. Walton. For reference, they are staying at Island Echos. Thanks for any help you can give.
Oh yikes. I guess I'd need to know what y'all are into. If it was me personally, for the first evening I'd spend an hour or so watching the sun go down at the beach, and then I'd head to grab some food downtown (pizza at Fokkers or Italian at Alis Bistro most likely) and the relax at KC's and listen to some live music with a few cocktails. Then for the full day, I'd rent some jet skis for the day (or half day), go explore the sound and the bay, then spend some time at crab island, take the ski back and grab some dinner at old bay steamer or Anglers depending on if I wanted crab legs or fresh fish for the full day. There are dozens and dozens of other things you could do, that's just an idea of what I would do personally
Hi Andrew, this is our first time going there and I would like to know what will it be the most affordable way when in comes to hotels or places to stay. The fees that condos has are very high and some of those are very outdated. Would it be ok just to stay in a hotel like Holiday Inn and drive to the beach every day? would it be an option to rent umbrellas and chairs at the beach if we do this? Hey Maelmare! Hotels and driving to the beach are definitely an option. I would assume that the airbnb and vrbo options are going to get you more bang for your buck but that might not be true year around, and I think it depends on what you want in the place that you stay at. As far as 'beach service', it sort of depends on when you are visiting, and what beaches you are going to spend your time at. Some of the beach service companies in the area will allow you to pay 10 or 20 bucks for them to set out chairs for you and pay the beach service employee directly when you see them roaming around. If you're trying to avoid crowds, I would suggest that you wait until at least April, maybe mid April to be safe. We get hit with 4 to 6 weeks of spring break traffic here depending on nearby schools that let out at different times
