Saying Laphroaig has “challenging” flavors wins the understatement of the year award…. Love Ardbeg !! My stepson and I finished my last bottle last night with a nice cigar. A great night with a wonderful young man. I describe Ardbeg as kind of like sucking on a charcoal briquet with flavors and textures that will give you a bit of a swelling under the kilt if you know what I mean. A wonderful whiskey once you appreciate it for what it is and what it was meant to be. Don't compare it to a highland or a Speyside as you are relating apples to potatoes. They both grow from the ground, but are nothing alike. Thanks for the great content guys !!!

@@NotQuiteEpic he can have favorites that he can't get locally. Just because it's not near him doesn't mean it can't be a favorite. I think Elie asks a good question. Assuming all things equal (including accessibility in this theoretical world), what would your top choices be that generally retail for, on average, under $100. Accessibility doesn't tend to vary the price more than 10-15% tops. It's not going to be $30 here and $500 there. Total rarity (total bottles made) is more of a control on price than regional rarity (how widely distributed it is).

My top three...I have unopened examples of all of them. 3. Ardbeg Lord of the Isles 2002 vintage. I had to take a shopping trip to Ton Overmars to get a couple of bottles, since it was unavailable in the US. 2. Springbank 1966 Local Barley. Expensive as hell when I bought it, worth a lot more now and a dram that is way too easy to drink too quickly...'where did my Springbank go?' 1. Another Ardbeg, one of the legendary 1967 Signatory Vintage sherry cask bottlings. That's my "I'm not sharing it with anyone, not even my mother" bottle.

NAS Dalmore should be on everyone's bucket list. As in, better get a bucket.

Man I gotta say guys have changed my mind on Ardbeg...an alcohol that taste like old upholstery??!! That sounds way too good to be true. Gotta get me some of that!

very very enterntaining video! I just got into whiskey and I love this channel to gain some whiskey knowledge while watching entertaining videos. For now I prefer the sweet and fruity whiskeys. In some scotches I don't like the sherry that much because I don't like wine and that reminds me too much of wine... lol. Many Bourbons are pretty high proof and then the intense alcohol irritates my taste so I can't really focus on the notes. Do you have any advice for me? Maybe a specific whiskey you would suggest for my taste?

Talking about bucket list whiskies... What whisk[e]y do you MBs think I should get for my 30th birthday? I'll be visiting Glenturret just before so 30 year old Glenturret is a possibility but I'm also thinking of a bottle of Octomore... Any suggestions and recommendations are welcome!

It would be interesting to try some other ardbeg scotch. All I have really had was Ardbeg Ugeadail and it is one of my favorite single malted scotches out there. The "bucket list scotch" i was able to have was Macallan 30 year (Company VP took us to expensive dinner and asked if he bought a bottle of scotch if anyone would help him drink it. I eagerly raised my hand not knowing what it was and the waiter puts a 30 year scotch on the table. Yes please). I do want to try a 40 - 60y aged scotch (I highly doubt this will happen). Otherwise my bucketlist is usually anything I haven't heard of or rare releases where only a handful of bottles were produced

All the Bunnabhian and Bruichladdich special little bottles they are killers of almost anything, deep rich all cask strength so much flavour it makes good whisky taste like water and anything with caramel taste like soco gag.

I really gotta disagree with he Laphroaig not having the essence of Laphroaig. I love what age does to Laphroaig, all of the iodine, and pencil eraser, and ozone turns into wildflower honey, white flowers, and orchard fruit (apple/pear). It reminds me of what the 10 year from the 60-s and 70's tastes like. I'm also really surprised at the bucket list. Not a single Brora, Springbank, Port Ellen, Rosebank, Littlemill, nothing from the heyday of Bowmore, no 70's ardbeg. I'm stoked that y'all's bucket list is actually things that you can cross off. (truly I am, since I probably won't get to most of mine) I would say if I were to have a bucket list, or bucket list recommendation (since I've had two of these): - Macallan 18 Gran Reserva 1982 (or the 1926 fine and rare, lmao) - Ardbeg 1974 single cask (any of em) - Black Bowmore - Springbank 12 year 100 proof - Springbank Local Barley Cask 443 - Rare Malts Brora 1972 22 year - Balvanie Tun 1401 batch no.3 - Lagavulin 37

I have not had the Balmore Cigar Malt. I am quite curious. I am a bourbon man in general, but Dalmore 15 is my all-time favorite whiskey and Dalmore Valor makes my top 10.
