Rather than risk a lengthy dangerous chase [ like California], or simply letting the criminals go free [ like California], Arkansas has a policy: “End it ASAP.” So they are trained specifically for high speed P.I.T. Manuvers. They do their best to pick the safest times. But they don’t play games. They end the pursuit as quickly as they can - for the safety of ALL.

Before reading the comments here, I said the same thing to those watching the video with me. The ASP seems to specialize in high speed PITs.

Pretty sure you have that backwards. They should never threaten to shoot people for merely trying to get away, unless in their doing so, they are specifically putting others' lives at risk, not just some vague "but he used to be speeding therefore now that i have him stopped, he's still doing it" (which he isn't at that point). When police act like rabid idiots, it scares people and they are all the more likely to keep fleeing.

Cops always pull gons on people they want to stop, knowing they won't be able to shout them. Just keep walking/running, you're safe if police have gons on you. They're relying on shock value to get you to give up.

The primary existence of the courts is to generate revenue for the government. Why do you think repeat drunk drivers still get little if any jail time but a huge fine?

@@redbaron474 If that's the case, then ALL drunk driver convictions should only get parole. As they WILL be repeat offenders. Kind of like policing for profit then with civil asset forfeiture. And qualified immunity.

Depends on the vehicle they are in. Many aren't too good at cornering which can cause the officer to have to choose between falling behind or risking a wipeout on corners. Also, I have out ran law enforcement. All you need is enough seconds to make a turn they don't see and get off the road quick. Granted, all they wanted me for was driving by way too fast when they were parked facing the other way and had never caught up to me so technically I wasn't evading them yet.

I liked hearing the guys history, I was thinking hay that's just a guy with very exotic taste in get away vehicles.

The problem with that is his foot is on the gas already. If he's now dead, the car won't be stopping at all until it hits something, so that could be more dangerous for the cop and other people. I would have never jumped on the hood though, bc once that car started he was screwed

That's how I'd expect it to play out usually. that said, jumping on the hood just made me think of the police academy movies. That's dumb enough but It gets worse, at this point it's pretty obvious that they are not going to hang around so an intelligent person would have gotten OFF the hood WHILE the driver was still giving him an out by running away slower than OJ.... Sadly we live in a country off "super troupers" that always gets there man and we unfortunately get subjected to not Bruce Willis hanging on to the roof of a car for dear life because... Yep, he's stupid. I'm having a really hard time feeling too sorry for the guy nor do I feel inclined to suggest any kind of assault charges be applied. at the end of the day, it's stupid to run, but it's infinitely dumber to hitch a ride ON TOP of the idiot that's running. If that officer really wants something helpful from me then I'll give advice, find a new line of work because you're not cut out for your current job and will likely live a longer and healthier life by doing so.

I think the bigger issue is pitting at such high speeds is not JUST dangerous to the people being chased, it is, of course a more risky maneuver the officers involved. My biggest issue with it personally however, is that doing so at such high speeds sends one if not multiple vehicles completely out of control if everything goes correctly. If it doesn't then it's a bird, no a plain, no it's a Ford Mustang! Shrapnel, parts, even entire vehicles can go flying in any direction for dozens of feet. If falling V8 engines aren't bad enough, I've seen to many officers chose some of the worst timing imaginable and send the vehicle into another vehicle or even off an overpass and down onto a completely different road where a VERY confused driver is trying to figure out why it's suddenly raining cars!

Could have just moved or was visiting. People DO have their cars in other states...
