For the sake of your pets, make sure to check before you use any scent. Many types of scent are toxic to your cats and dogs. This includes incense burners, diffusers, perfumes, air freshners, and scented candles etc. The scent can interfere with your pets central nervous system and make them extremely ill. Always check online, or with a vet first. ❤

Yes, this is especially true if you or a member of your family is utilizing the services of a service dog that is alerting to certain scents or odors. For example, a diabetic alert service dog needs to smell the diabetic's breath to determine if the person's blood glucose is too high (above 180) or too low (below 80). Often diabetics' breath can be totally halitosis but that tells so much more to the service dog than it does to the people around them who do not understand the process of this stress related "dis-ease." Definitely reframe your art work, it's not always the cheapest thing to do, but it really does change the look and feel of the piece. In January we visited family and my father in law had put his house on the market and was down sizing, he finally gave us some paintings that my husband had expressed interest in almost a decade earlier. All of the frames where outdated, as they were older than us and didn't fit our home or style. I had them all reframed over the course of several months and now they are all up and we get to enjoy them on a daily basis. I got inspired and reframed a few more of our own pieces to freshen up the art and i am so glad that I did.

You are right about changing light bulbs. We moved in our current home 2 years ago and they had BRIGHT white light bulbs everywhere. So I changed them all to warm light bulbs now I don't have to squint every time we turn on a light:)

Great video! I just changed all six of our light bulbs in the schoolhouse lights in our kitchen and whoa… I was shocked at how dim those LEDs from years ago had become. That’s something they don’t tell you, that even though LEDs are supposed to last forever. they dim with age. Now, it’s as if we have a new kitchen.

Great tips! Wholly agreed. One tip regarding fragrances: Be aware of which ones you use, and be minimal. It’s not so inviting if your guest (such as me) is scent-sensitive and asphyxiates; that ruins the vibe. But also, having a strong scent of florals when you’re eating buttered popcorn on your couch is also not so great. But otherwise, fully agreed! Thanks for the video, and congrats on your sponsor!

A big thank you. I watched your videos (and a few other designers) while designing my home decor. What a big help ! Who knew choosing a white paint could be so involved. So glad I followed your advice of putting the paint colors on the different walls in the room and taking time to look at it over several days & times of day. Very happy with the results. I’ll be sewing the blinds and drapes myself to get the fabric and look I want. Plus enjoying the process.

I change things out seasonally and doing all these right now especially candles in the fall and winter. I’m changing my curtain panels and lampshades now.

Thank goodness good design is much more prevalent than when I grew up. I remember a young relative that wanted to paint her bedroom black (yuk) - just to be different. Accent wall or area would have been more pleasant for sure!

Hey Lisa, I would love to see a video on blending different wood tones, I rent and my doors, fireplace and windowsills are all warmer oaks... My style is traditional with beige's/golds, rich greens and little black accents like candles, furniture legs and I'm ditching some more contemporary furnishings like my media unit and coffee table from a previous home. I love richer woods with traditional elements like appliques and mouldings, but I think it would clash too much in my space ❤

Hi I have two 🤔design questions 1) what is a good bedroom accent wall color when The rest of the room is a very neutral wheat ( more yellowish gold not tan) color . Think the name is michigan dunes. Also the wall is not a full wall . It’s broken up . The right side if the wall is the widest side & has a flat screen tv on it . The center is an open arch way leading to the master bathroom on the right and a walk in closet straight ahead and a little built in dressing table to the left w a mirror and light fixture hanging over it . The left side of the wall is the space behind the door into the bedroom. 2) whats a good set up for papers , mail, “to do “important papers” or bi yearly bills ( not the monthly kind that are electronically setup) forms etc. that tend to land on kitchen counter or extra surfaces? Unlike remotes or magazines that are easy to conceal in baskets ? Thanks 😊 love your channel. Classic textbook advice

Where do we get the slipcovers? My old Pottery Barn suite had those available, but I haven't seen any others that are nice quality or the right shape. I've looked for some on etsy for an IKEA chair cover, but the stretchy fabric looks like it's for a swimsuit. 🤢 And I get so sad when my youtube designers talk about rugs. I love them, I want to get one, but I live in a rental with wall-t-wall shag carpet. 😭

I rent, too. But I bought a large area rug that goes over the wall to wall carpeting. I love my rug so much better.

The after photo at @0:46 is just heinous. smh Whoever designed that needs to PAY the owner of that home for destroying the value of their living room (and black and white are my favorite colors). Throw pillows are a total waste, unless they are just beyond extraordinary. Buy gorgeous throw pillow covers instead. Save the landfill from being full of bad trends you regret following. The rug video is DEF worth people's time, as is the Rule of 3 painting video. Do *not* throw away *working* light bulbs. If you are desperate to re-lamp, save those bulbs for a time when one burns out. It is HORRIBLE to just waste good light bulbs. smh My god, the waste...

As we get older we don't absorb nutrients as well, plus the vegetables today are produced for size and sturdiness to ship to market and not nutrients. You would need to seek out heirloom seeds and grow your own. Get rid of seed oils, especially don't eat processed food.
