Great stuff once again guys. Good to know about the dish soap - haven’t used it in years, but mainly because I thought it was too harsh and stripped everything. I am doing probably 90% rinseless washes these days because it’s so much easier than lugging out my pressure washer and all the gear every week. I do use waterless wash for my trunk and door jams though.

I would like to see a Wax that fills in specifically for ceramic coated vehicles, because let’s say a customer goes to a quick machine wash and they say they want another paint correction it’d be better to have a wax that can fill the scratches so we wouldn’t compromise the clear

Still test it. These “myths” are lies companies put out there. Think of how ridiculous it is for a pro detailer using a brand called Do It Yourself. Certified coatings are backed with a warranty because they not only charge detailers to get a certification, the coating itself is 8xs the cost. Not because they know it’s being prepped properly. These guys are part of the “club”.

I wish I had watched this yesterday, I would have had some great 50/50 pictures for you to confirm that you can rinseless wash a dirty vehicle... with a bit of common sense and care. Rinsless washed a filthy white sprinter that had been through 2 snow storms and a 1000 mile road trip. It was tan when I started and arctic white 30 minutes later. Pre spray with Koch Chemie Pol Star at 1:15 with 1:256 DIY rinseless... 5 minute dwell... "rinse" with DIY rinseless in IK 12.... followed with normal rinseless wash. Majority of the crud came off with the IK 12 "rinse" and was gleaming white after the wash. 5 gallons of DI water in all. I'll have to remember to get you some photos next time. And I am finding that I am reaching for DIY rinseless more and more frequently the more I use it. I am looking forward to the end of the winter freeze here, so that I can try it in a foam cannon (sorry I am not a 100% convert to rinseless... yet).

Rotary is KING and definitely a LEARNED skill. I am really bad on rotary and the more I use one, the more I love it... BTW, when a person can finish down on a rotary...YIKES! Amazing Gloss! I spent some time on one fender with my Rotary, wool then Waffle fine foam (red) , I literally cannot match that look with my da... bottom line, rotary is uncomfortable for me but I'm learning to Love it. IT IS STILL THE BEST TOOL!

According to the dish soap sheeting topic. One thing I am waiting for is that some detailing company find a way to make a real sheeting sealant/spray especially for topping ceramic. Some tried this but they bead nevertheless or those are base coats for coatings which dont really bead but neither sheet really great. Waterspots from minerals and dirt, not after washing but for example after sun hits the car with drops from rain on it, are an big issue here. Do you think there will be the technology for a real sheeting product in the future? Hope you understand what I mean. Sorry for my sometimes bad english. I try to improve my english by watching english videos, reading and sometimes writing something.
@diydetailofficial
@diydetailofficial Год назад
Your English is perfect. Unfortunately that’s very difficult to accomplish with a coating. It’s been done with a wax in the 80’s, problem is no one purchased it. Also if you create a non hydrophobic surface , dirt will also stick to it. With something that offers chemical protection, sheeting requires a high volume of water to accomplish, something that with rain simply isn’t feasible.
@-Aliquis
@-Aliquis Год назад
@@diydetailofficial interesting. I watched an video from an coating company. They said that that the cleaning and dirt repellency would be best with a non or semi-hydrophobic coating. But they talked in this case about high density polysilazane. Ok, its maybe semi-hydropobic, speeking about water contact angles under 60. But even an angle of 60 would reduce water spots compared to angles over 100 which most products creates today. But thank you for your information and opinion. Always interesting to hear different opinions on one topic. I agree with you that such a product would be a niche product. Therefore not something to make money with because most want tight beads. But the water spot issue on my ouside parked black car and the constant weather change from rain to sun sometimes also with dust drives me crazy.

Great info-packed video as always guys! Lately, I have been maintaining a lot of ceramic coated vehicles that are covered in road salt. I have been using a mixture of onr + mdr as a presoak before the rinseless wash. I just wanted to get your opinions on the best rinseless presoak mixture/procedure for salt removal. I typically use a water spot remover after the wash because it seems to work better, but is it necessary in the pre wash? I will be switching to diy products soon and appreciate your thoughts!
@diydetailofficial
@diydetailofficial Год назад
Wash then treat with water spot remover. The pre soak unfortunately isn’t as effective since the iron remover needs to break through the dirt.

@Rick-bd3qf

For a Canadian who washes the road salt off once per week, can it be done safely without pressure washing/garden hose rinsing the car beforehand? I'm not clear on this. I would of course pre-treat with a spray bottle of rinseless solution. If it was caked in dirt from the whole winter, I would not do this. However, once per week, the buildup would be much less. Thanks.
@diydetailofficial
@diydetailofficial Год назад
Rick, yes Rinseless is safe to use that way. Being a Canadian myself, we have to think on our feet. If you have a coin car wash, pre spray with Rinseless, use their pressure washer, drive home and wash.
@Rick-bd3qf

Hello. Love this channel and watching all the way from India. Huge long time fan of Yvan and his efficient techniques, which only come from years of experience. I see his face in a thumbnail; I click. Wish he was related to me so i could have 24/7 access to him for my endless detailing thoughts and queries. I know it's best to not reuse on paint, microfibre that has been used for ceramic coating application/removal and to demote it to less sensitive tasks. However, when it comes to ceramic/SiO2 spray coatings/sealants like TW Seal & Shine or TW ceramic spray or even ceramic infused waterless wash; what's your thinking/attitude towards the microfibre used with these products? Would microfiber detergents be able to adequately clean/revive the towels/pads to the point where they'd be suitable for use on paint again? Do these ceramic sprays have that much ceramic content in them that they'd leave hardened ceramic particles in the microfibre? I hate losing perfectly nice microfibre just because it was used with ceramic products. I wish you guys would do a short video on this topic. My first time reaching out to you guys so would be thrilled to have Yvan reply just for me. Also, any plans to make your products available in India or on Amazon India? Really interested in that super soft microfiber candy wash pad you guys were showing in another video. Thank you and wishing you all the success with the channel and product launches👍
