Great video! I think instead of transformer you can use capacitive dropper as powering unit and it does same functionality of output DC with respect to input mains voltage

FYI the CD4017 is quite happy at 12v, so no voltage regulation is necessary when running from 12 volts.

I already made this circuit before. It's very good but it is annoyingly unstable once you put the relay. I made some improvements adding an optocoupler at the output and shielding to ground the IR sensor and changing the transistor for a switching type. But still once in a while still triggers but itself. Is there any way to make this circuit solid rock stable and not triggering by itself? The real problem is in the sensitivity of the IR sensor.

Willy Rivero - Is your LV power stable? I see nothing here to smooth or regulate the rail adequately. This is typical of eBay type products. Just enough to mostly work but nothing to provide stability.

@@boonedockjourneyman7979 Yes I did take the ripple voltage into account but not as much as I should so I'm pretty sure you are right. I then changed the IR sensor and adapted this circuit using a radio signal sensor. That worked rock stable. But working with the IR sensor the ripple gets to be an issue. I red some service manuals to see how IR sensors are dessigned and noticed that some brands use a 5v zener diode at the input and another 5v zener diode AT THE OUPUT of the IR sensor. I will work on that and see what happens. Thanks for your advise.

try covering your ir since it might pickup unwanted light from surroundings

@@wrigleypatio967 There was an improvement when I use the covering shield to gnd. Then I inserted the sensor in a small box. That seemed to work all right but still triggers by itself after 20 minutes or so and on it goes after another period like that. And the sensitivity of the control diminishes. You have to get closer. I will be checking the comments.

Have you tried powering the circuit and the relays from separate power supplies (separate power but a common ground)? If it's reliable with two power supplies you might be getting glitches in the power supply when a relay turns on. You can try powering the relays directly from the positive supply, but isolate the semiconductors with a series diode and add an extra power filter capacitor on the semiconductor supply. Double check you have working diodes across the relay coils. For making the IR less sensitive you can add a resistor between the output of the IR module (pin 1) and the connection between the base and capacitor connection. I've had problems with IR receivers when there's a compact fluorescent lamp or LED lighting nearby. The IR receiver is looking for 40khz pulses and a lot of compact florescent lamps and LEDs use a switching power supply around 40khz.

Stop banning people when they criticize your work. You won't get anywhere with your channel doing that. That might be acceptable where your are from, but its not acceptable in the western world. Freedom of speech and expression is the foundation of democracy. Learn to live with it regardless of your ego.

As much a banning is a dick move, RU-vid is owned by a private company and Kasyan has every right to say "no" on their channel. I've seen plenty of comments that are negative on this channel, but I've never seen them getting banned or deleted. Are you sure you were using constructive criticism?
