That was great thanks funny as a diyer never thought to strip outer cable with strippers , just struggled splitting with the cable. Cheers.

Grab the earth and use it to split the sheathing? I used to do that always until I discovered strippers. Thanks for watching!!

Wire stripper is straight out the best investment in terms of amount of time saved and efficiency. Replaced many years of using a Stanley knife and pliers.

I can agree with all of the tools except for the wire stripper. I have one of these and it sucks. At work I have a Weidmüller one which is very good but pricey and at home I have a Jokari "gun style" (you hold it like a gun) wire stripper and it works on almost everything and it only cost like 20€ or something. Another great tool is a sheathing stripper for round cables its also pretty cheap.

There's absolutely noting worse than trying to do an electrical job and not having the proper tools for the job! Wire cutters and strippers are a must!

With ferrule crimps don't crimp them twice, the crimping tool should do the job perfectly the first time, crimping twice can mean previous folds in the crimp are stressed causing cracks and work hardening of the ferrule material. Ferrule crimps work best with terminals with a clamp plate rather than a screw which screws into the crimp (as on some cheap "chocolate block" style terminals) as the screw will split the ferrule and possibly cause the wire to break. I typically use cord end ferrules, these are the same type of crimp but without insulation on the end, I find these help in confined spaces.

Tip if you crimp ferrules don’t twist the wire then you can get the proper size on most of the time

I’ve heard lots of fanfare about Knipex (and Snap-On tools, too), but never yet been convinced their side cutters are appreciably superior to a good quality brand name pair of side cutters, at least at four times the cost worth. These days, I’m using Channel Lock brand for most of my hand tools for electrical work.

The Knipex wire cutters are great, I’ve got their plier wrenches too, which are great for plumbing. Can’t speak for many of their others though.

Knipex is good stuff but so is channel lock. All comes down to how much use they get to how good they are. If they last and still work well over time they are good enough

Interesting your Stanley auto strippers don’t really work well on flex, I use cheapo CK ones which work on all kinds of cable for me: tiny little flex cables like USB cables, 2.5mm twin and earth, 5 core flex, pretty much most stuff that isn’t bigger than 6mm. Wonder if it’s specific to those Stanley ones
