Hello again Lindsay, another great upload. In my part of New England at this time of year small black stone flies are everywhere and their nymph imitations work well. I’m certain your Cruncher and Hare’s ear in #16 to #18 will take trout here depending on the day. I really like the “skinny” Hare’s Ear you show. Here in the States we generally tie them thicker and more robust. I think the version you show in this video would make a good stone fly nymph. I intend to tie a few your style to find out.

Dean, I think we have all been guilty of over dressing flies. The skinny patterns score well here in Blighty 😉

Another couple of good ones for me are. Olive muskins with red green or black holographic collar. Or for damsel sub a comp legal Dawsons olive with olive/yellow or yellow/orange blend tail

Not tried the olive must give it a go 👍

Here, downunder our May would be Oct .- Nov. So I would have a pheasant tail/ brown nymph and probably a possum nymph, but would be happy to go with any of your 5.

great patterns, my question is how can you not love a hairs ear? sizes 20-10 natural, green or chocolate and you can catch trout, what's not not love. Also a great carp fly.

I like them well enough very versatile but I know a lot of guys that see them as a bogey fly.

Great advice as always. I especially liked the look of the dressing for the hares ear. The body looked to have some coloured fibres in the dubbing. Where did you source this magic mix? Keep up your excellent work. Mike

Tied a different variation of the cruncher today, a bit different to the normal, I will try it at the weekend and let you know how it fishes before I reveal it.

Good stuff Lindsay, it'll be a couple of weeks before I put the buzzers away though! What's the dubbing blend on the hare's ear? It looks a bit mosaic-ish. Cheers Phil.

Nice one Lindsay. When do you recon the success on buzzers will start to tail off? Cheers
@lindsayiflyfish
@lindsayiflyfish 2 года назад
Buzzers work all year but the standard ones sink to quick. That’s fine when they are deep not so much when they are a bit higher.

@@lindsayiflyfish i use to keep one for the sea fishing when i was younger. As the fish use to move from rock gully to gully on times of tide ect. Once i got a good understanding of the patterns i wrote it on a os map. Very different to fly fishing but for viewer's who watch n read your comment section its really great to keep note ect. Loving the videos mate
