Great show! Blocking all unused MIDI messages is huge! Some VSTs have secret back doors that are triggered from certain messages within the host. Think of the trench and exhaust port on the Death Star. Filter out all unused X Wing fighters! The other tip I use all the time is to enable/disable Note On messages. Roxanna was a great episode! Here’s an idea for a show: Use Cases: What can you do with GigPerformer? The idea is not to drill down, but to cover a big range of decoupled use cases. For instance, a functional guitar pedal setup select rackspaces, like Clean, Rhythm, Crunch, Lead, Space… A pedal board turns on and off compressor, distortion, chorus, etc. Next, there is the Bank approach where one set of pedals chooses the bank (Rock, Blues, Prog…) and the second could be functional or pedal based. There are use cases for keyboards, adding vocal chains, mixing, virtual accompaniments, tablet control, lyrics presentation, lighting control, and on and on. This could help users figure out what they might want to accomplish in GP. In each case you wouldn’t drill down, but you could give tips, like “do most of your vocal chain in the Global Rackspace.” Or you could link to other videos, articles, and topics in the manual to give next steps. Cheers!
I agree. Simple reminder tips with links to the instructional videos would have been more helpful than the superfluous banter, inconsistent audio settings, and lack of editing.
