Interesting to see where Jeremy's addiction to the suit 'jacket and jeans' combo started.

17:45, the door dropped about 1/2 inch when JC opened it. In 'New' Top Gear he would have been freaking out over that. What a difference a few decades make! LOL.

These older episodes of the original show were really interesting to watch as they went in to more broad educational subject matter regarding road vehicles, roadways, and national / regional differences in driving conditions, laws, etc. like explaining about the different 'Lorry' (truck) configurations that most automobile drivers are clueless about. Jeremy is self-referred to as a 'presenter' meaning more of an editorialist entertainer than fair journalist. If you want cold facts and fair comparisons of real world products- Consumer Reports or UL may serve better and be far more boring. Take Jeremy with huge grain of salt and pint of bitter. He's an over the top salesman playing it up at the big multi-Eurobrand dealer really running scared of the competition from the juggernaut American and Asian dealer's across the street. Of course any criticisms of American vehicles of the era may look a bit nit picky considering the subjectiveness of it all (it's more a Euro-pride thing right). While American cars were just coming out of the Detroit Malaise era, the same companies the Brits are salivating over were pulling out of America because they couldn't hack markets outside of Europe and the third world, it's only through hindsight we see that now. As I recall going to junk yards back trhen and excluding the stuff that only 1%'er's could afford (Aston-Martin, Bently, Maserati, etc.) with rare exceptions the so called superior Euro and Japanese stuff would wind up in the junkyard for the same reasons as any American car. Today in light of the Audi-VW-FIAT polution and Asian airbag fatality scandals and the financial take over of most European manufacturers by non European entities it's surely much harder to Jeremy and Co. to push the everything euro- is better if not outright superior to the junk those 'colonials cobble up'. Still I miss the bombastic old lout, like the grumpy old guys on bar stools at the corner bar.

Those were the days when the pound was strong against the dollar. No chance now. There was also a time when Brits could buy cheap car in Europe, again when the pound was strong.......

stick to cars. .the weight, distribution of it, height and length are most important..if you want to haul less you use a shorter trailer.you can have a dropped deck or dock level. an a train,b train, super b train ,,c train, triples, e2mv rockies,, a single or even a tandem axle truck....the price of classics were just about to sky rocket when they recorded this.. mid 90's the market was topped out. i seen a 1953 chevy bus go for 5.4 million u.s!!. a hemi cuda(69) sold for over 2 million.
