BUY HOLDEN AND FORD!!! Either way, at least you are supporting AUSTRALIA. Caught this just before it started. Don't know about part 1... Was a few weeks ago and I didn't see it.. Free cash and domains: paidgamers.net/...
@@FiendishlyDelightedSefto you guys are taking the piss right. The holden v6s have always been a joke of an engine overshadowed by the barra in performance and anihilated in the reliability aspect. Nobody has ever taken a holden v6 seriously.
true mate, but the SV6 is honestly a totally different animal, esp with 6 speed manual. Honestly my SV6 man goes super hard, and im in the cops so i drive both sixes. Both top Aussie pride
@warrick129 Wrong answer mate. The REAL reason Taxi's are Fords is that the Falcon 4.0L engine runs better on lpg and it has a better rear suspension for carring rear passengers than Commodores do. Most of the Holden fans I know are morons who buy cars based on the 'badge' that's on it and not based the car's quality and value. Ford now make a better large car than Holden do, but the Holden nuts refuse to accept the truth and will argue the facts and make excuses for their beloved badge.
@adfasdfasdfluy So your a GM fan boy. With the amount of Government lease & the fact that there still owned by the Government they should be outselling Ford. Can you say Government fleet sales. As for better reviews & reliability your just showing your one eyed. You should have watched the hole vid( Holden v Ford #2)....Ford got the better review.
Ford nearly always smokes the Holden in these comparo's, it's been like this for years, yet everyone buys the Holdens, be it the Daewoo Barina/Cruze/Captiva or the Commo...Holden know how to advertise & create a perception that they are the shit, & Ford obviously don't. I reckon that's the difference. Also from experience average Joe generally thinks Holden is all Australian where Ford is the Yankee giant.
This was back in 1997, when the Pontiac Grand Prix had a version of the V6 that powered the Commodore. Despite having an advantage of about 15 horsepower, it was resoundingly thrashed by its Australian cousin
AU had the best durability rating in terms of the rear suspension. It was the perfect outer burbs country car in that respect still going strong with many owners. But ugly duckling sure it was! The BF Ghias stood out to me the most, being the incredibly elegant single owner or family outing car.
The memory of that "cod faced" thing that was briefly imported in the mid 90s that wore Taurus badges is still fresh in the minds of Australian motorists. It had a face only a mother could love. The modern Taurus is definitely an improvement, but the issue is not just that some are only front wheel drive, but the fact that most people will be pissed off if it replaces the Falcon. How would you feel if Ford USA suddenly replaced the Mustang with a Camry clone?
@paspax In June 2010, new emissions regualtions introduced meant that the iconic V8 engine had to be discontinued. Ford phased this out quietly; motoring journals and magazines did not even report on it. As of now, Ford offers no V8 on any of its model lines. However, at the time the V8 was phased out, Ford's performance subsidiary, FPV, introduced a Ford America sourced V8, the 5.0 litre coyote (as used in the Mustang)....From Wiki.
Thank you !!!! Finally I'm not the only one yelling about this buy Australian buy a falcon buy a commodore and burn a aurion it's the Australian way!!!!
***** I don't know how or why I'm so interested in Australian cars, or even concerned with the Australian economy, since I'm not from Australia, nor do I live in Australia.
Sadly, it's not just Australia who's having their products made elsewhere. It's also happening here in North America, particularly in the USA, where I'm from. :(
***** Is it? Not only does the car have to be built in Australia, but it should also be built using genuine Australian materials, by Australian workers. Is it?
Pity Australians ignored or couldn't afford a new Falcon or Holden. I have my Falcon FG (Second hand and in good nick for a GOOD price in 2011.) and the "Barra" is still going strong, especially against those V6 'oldens.😉
Little do people know- that is actually a safety feature on the VE commodores when the Traction Control System is enabled. It stops damage happening to the gearbox as the car is temporarily rolling back while in drive (obviously being a police car it is an auto- autos can stall to!) Turn the TCS off and it won't stall.
I miss Karratha. Bought my FG Falcon XR6 Turbo with the Luxury pack and has 290,000 k's on it. Just got the interior detailed and looks like new again!
Why can't we have the Ford Falcon and Chevrolet Caprice (US Holden Commodore re-badge) for sale in the US? Now that the Crown Victoria is gone, there are no more rear wheel drive Ford sedans in North America. I'm sure that a slightly restyled Lincoln version of the Falcon would compete well with the Cadillac CTS, and other German and Japanese mid-size luxury sports sedans. GM would benefit from a new RWD Chevrolet Caprice too since the near identical Pontiac G8 disappeared in 2009.
Since the 1960s, Americans have had it hammered into them that front wheel drive is superior. Australian cars are designed to handle the abuse of local conditions, and as many European cars went front wheel drive early, and broke down a lot, the locals distrusted it. Australians are often pulling large caravans (trailers) instead of driving mobile homes, and front wheel drive is often useless for that purpose
@ThatSteedyBloke The sales figure for The Commodore has also taken a plunge in the last decade.....It's called the Toyota Corolla. Both manufactures have been hit very hard, Falcon are a dying breed but your kidding yourself if you think the Commodore is not in the same boat. Holden only just managed to secure a deal with It's parent company GM . GM was going to pull out of Australia. The federal Government saved there ass. There is no plain for a Commodore after 2016-17. Both dying breeds.
@FormulaVeeRacer1200 saw ur vids, so i stand corrected on that note, saying that a car with huge amounts of money spent on it will beat a factory car is a mute point, i could simply spend more on a hsv then it would beat ur ford. I find it hard to believe that a std 4l 6 cyl will run a 13 sec quarter mile, if they the facts then u full of it on that one mate, unless chuck Norris was pushing from behind.
@ParalyzedNight you're in the blue garage of course you'll say FPV is better but sales don't lie. You people are just jealous that despite how good the FPV claimed to be...not many people are buying so too bad. Anyone can put a turbo and S/C in a car mate and if that's what it takes for Ford to be slightly ahead then it doesn't bother me at all because I know reasons why HSV ain't doing it.
@ParalyzedNight another thing is why are you even comparing a T6 engine car vs an N/A V8?Those 2 are competely different car to start with...yes you can compare it's price and value but nevertheless those 2 are different cars to start with. Ford need the T6 back then because their 5.4L v8 is a joke and it took them all these years to secure the Coyote 5.0L and a S/C to keep up.Holden/HSV doesn't do T6 because they have different business strategies, much better business model than Ford's.
@ParalyzedNight well, the F6 is a fast car no doubt but what else has it got apart from the engine? nothing special after that really. Is FPV's boss saying that a great car is not just about horsepowers but is about overall performance ie styling, technology etc. HSV has alot of things that FPV doesn't have. The Holden vs Ford debate is endless but the fact is Ford will not and cannot outsold Holden in anyway. The falcon is down to 6th the last time I check in new car sales figures.
Really, I would blame GM for the poorer quality cars that are coming out badged as Holden's of late. What I think needs to be done is: Holden make their OWN cars (they can be made in factories around the world, but the bulk should be made in Australia), which, when exported, should be badged as Holden's, they should have their own car designs, make their own engines as well as importing some from American cars, and start importing some American cars to sell in Australia.
Can,t believe your replying to a comment made 2 weeks ago champ.Yes engines are supplied by America & yes you can argue all day on this topic, BUT GMH is Australian & all Aussies should be proud!! GMH is a franchise of GMC ( hence why we call it GMH) Unlike Ford which in essence is also Australian but is heavily dictaed by the Yanks, this why the USA is contemplating running with a generic large vechile wordwide....
haha its good to see the holden guys get hot headed over a small loss.. the 4.0L I6 will always have it over the 3.8 v6.. the running gear of the new 5 speed automatic for the fords. save much more fuel.. ontop of what they already save. much more economical then the commodore.. i still prefer the older AU falcons though.. all round Fords are the better family car/cruiser.. always will be.
Trouble is, Ford USA have no imagination. They can't allow anything Australian made to compete on the US market. Holden were allowed to export their Caprice as a police cruiser because they wanted a rear drive competitor to the Interceptor and Taurus AWD. I'm a Holden fan, but it would be cool to see Australian Falcons go international.
ford took money as well. but instead of taking it through the government they took a bunch of loans from different banks to stay afloat. either way, they both paid back their debt. both ahead of schedule. some GM stock is held by the US treasury dept. and some Ford stock is held by banks. its the same sort of thing.
@ParalyzedNight by what, .1 of a second on the quarter mile? Pity the new fpvs were made after the hsv's, let's see what happens when the VF comes out in 2012, in reply to the fpv's? stroked 6L to a 6.8 stock in the ss, sv6-tt has been rumored? Oh and the ve walkinshaw already beats both of the gt 335 and f6. Although it's a performance package it's still part of holden/hsv.
@ParalyzedNight but why isn't Ford selling as good then? Their sales are shit, that doesn't mean Fords are shit though, overall they're both very close but Holden are edging out with better overall performance. GTP 335 is good but it has a supercharger and HSV uses N/A V8, if HSV wants to put a supercharger in they can, GM has a lot of them for HSV to choose from.
@BENDOON23 Funny u say that cause my old man use to drive a taxi and he drove 2 fords but after doing 250,000km on each cause the engines had to be rebuilt he went to holden and got 3times that 750,000 so as for your statement on reliability i dotnt think so there crap always have been crap and always will be crap
@kiwipilot84 nobody mentioned LPG till i did, just raising another point to keep this ford v holden feud going. and as for the toyotas, someone raised that there being more falcon taxis means they are better, so by that logic prius' and hybrid camrys are also better. and regarding the opel, did holden base their cars off opel or was it vice versa
@shozzy6996 Who mentioned LPG? Or taxis? In New Zealand the police cars are all Holdens because they are Cheap- And what do toyotas have to do with anything? If you look at the design history commodores from the VB through are opel/ vaxhaull origin. Park a commodore next to an opel Senator.. U get my drift.
LOL the ford won and wasn't aloud to use sports mode lol and an Inline six is more advanced then a V6? LOL funny cause Holden usually call it old technology. Funny thing too is the falcon with 6 speed cuts 9.9L to 100 KMs matching Toyota Camry and pwning holdens smaller six. and the Holden auto stalled lol :P
@malz0r Its not the same. An m3 completely out classes the W427. The engineering behind it and its performance are miles ahead. Its twice the car of the w427. Why buy a w427 when for 20k more you can get a GTR which will run rings around it. The w427 is a big lazy overpriced muscle car
@FormulaVeeRacer1200 lol there are winners on both sides but most of it is the driver :P my matee has a xr6 2008 mod and i flooreeedd him in my 05 vz.... but yee i noee that ford has got many models faster but in my personal oopinon holden is just the beetter option :)
I happen to like both cars (as I also happen to like apple and black berry pie and blue berry pie and straw berry ice cream and chocolate ice cream). Although, in this instance, I think ford is better (in certain aspects) while the same Holden style and formula is getting a little out dated.
@Blackheart12345 thats bull shit really.......holdens have american engines and the body parts are made in china.......the holden car is only put together over here.........the ford is all build over here............and ford even said that they arnt going for power...more on safety....
U sure about that!! Its Ford thats scraping the Falcon!! Ford U.S may be building a generic vechile in the states to supply worldwide so in fact that will see the end of the great Falcon Aussie car. Which means Holden will be the only true Aussie car manaufacturer with the Commodore!!
look at all the Holden fans get revved up after they said Ford won..put 2 and 2 together people..larger and faster motor with a better gearbox..unlike holdens outdated shitbox..the VE is like the VT all over again..over hyped but a year and a half into sales and it already feels like its 10 years old..
Wow it was just announced that GM may close it Holden plants in Australia,. The South Australian premier has rushed off to the states to try & secure 2500 jobs. Ford on the other hand just announced a shit load of money to secure Falcon for 4 more yrs.
I agree. Buy a Holden or ford. I think both cars are great. The only reason people get so uptight about this is because they are the only 2 car manufacturers who still make decent sized powerful cars and are Australian. Go Holden & Ford!
The W427 is the biggest rip-off I've ever come across. When you talk that many dollars you have to consider Ford's GT supercar, and be chasing the 320kph mark. The F6 is much closer to the W427 than HSV and their fanboys would have you believe anyway.
@UPZBUM Slow? Do you need glasses or something? Didn't you see the gap between the two. For the record, the FG with a 5 speed auto was capable of 0-100 in 7.5s. That is about as fast as a golf GTi. Not slow for a 36 grand family car.
End of the day both cars are the best mass produced family vehicles in the world. They boost the aussie economy. Holden and Ford boys at least for this youtube clip lets band together and fuck the wog boxes and rice burners off!!!!
drive a holden last longer then ford shitty motor and box!!!..i had an accident in my ford xr6 when i removed the front right guard i was shocked to see that ford had cardboard paper flush behind the plash guards!!..fuck sakes ford reall shit
@shozzy6996 They dismissed the pov pack? Errr, omega? and every other korean car they sell? dude.. get real.. Holden hardly even make any cars they are all badge engineerd asides from the commodore which is based on an Opel.
Arguing Ford is better than Holden or Holden is better than ford, is kind of like arguing apple and black berry pie is better than blue berry pie or straw berry ice cream is better than chocolate ice cream.
@kiwipilot84 Holden didnt release a pov pack with LPG as an option from the factory, where as the falcon apparently did.. Also in saying that falcons are better than commodores because there are more falcon cabs, does that mean that the prius and the hybrid camry is better than a falcon, 'cause thats what you see mainly in brisbane now. And which commodore is based on an opel?
@woodpecker092 Frord Australia have not dropped Ute or V8. Thet still make utes & they're gearing up to convert to the new OHC Coyote 5.0 litre V8. 5.4 litre V8's are still available.
buy a 240T bare head then start building a block a nispro got 1000hp out of a stock head with extensively modified cams, they used to do a kit for 35K but you have to build it yourself
So there is no Holden you can buy today that is quiker than the equivelant Ford? F6 Typhoon beats any Holden you throw at it, and at the base line Ford still win?? Ford have done so well.
If you went by tyre noise.. the Ford was being pushed harder than the holden, so it seemed a bit biast lol.. Also there are more Mitsubishi taxi's than Fords ;D lol
GM ( government motors) is trying to keep its head above water...Ford on the other hand survived the GFC with out any government assistant, & kicking GM ass.
I like how brainless ford fans point out that holden gets its v8s from chev. it must escape them that ford Australia gets its v8 from, u guessed it, ford usa.
@BENDOON23 more taxi's are fords because they run better on lpg. the au's would roll over the clock on lpg where the holden and toyota engines just wouldnt
@theboxmike Lol i honestly don't care about the whole ford vs holden thing, i was just going by what i saw. Must be because im in a different state to you lol.
@BENDOON23 There are more falcon taxis because holden dismissed the pov pack.. which is what a taxi is a poverty pack car, nothing to do with reliability...
What? i think you may be a little confused mate they used both base model Ford (Falcon xt) and Holden (Omega) in this test... The video shows it from about 0:30
The falcon defiantly is better, but to be fair though they didnt use the better holden 195 kw V6 which should be standard on all models.(excluding v8 models)
Part 2..potentially ending the great Falcon!! Same goes for all other Ford vechiles outside the states. GMC can not dictate to GMH or Opel or anyone else
The car company's would probably be begging top gear to advertises the mighty great machines of Australia, I mean it's a brilliant way of getting the message out about buying these high quality cars, it's like at the end of the day all ford and Holden fans have in common is they want these cars to be supported so they don't get to lose their passion, experimenting new generations of goodness that could have been?
Sugar Bombs I don't consider the 2018 commodore a commodore. Reasons people buy aussie cars: Large car, Optional V8, RWD, Made in Australia. Reliable The new commodore doesn't have any of them, except maybe reliability, but in that case, camrys exist.
@RockSolitude Also, some of Holden's cars look like they have been sourced from Daewoo or other Asian manufacturers (such as the Epica, Cruze and regular Barina's)
@defiant18 I said it was N/A not standard. Had a cam and headwork. and Iv spent just 3grand on my xr6turbo. that red clubby has spent over 15k in mods and i still ruin him. stock for stock my car will beat a hsv GTS down the quarter. tune it and ur in the 12's which I would like to see a gts do with just a tune. You cant get away from the fact the the 4L has so much more value for money. The turbo kit on my white EF was just 2.5grand. Head porting with cam was 1300. car was 3300.
