EVO's ROCK!!! It's simply the best developed 2 litre 4 cylinder powerplant in the world with a cast iron block and over 35 years in extensive rally research and development to date. It's just been superceeded with the new EVO X full alloy engine. For a 4 banger turbo you cant go wrong with an EVO.
Evo iii was 250 bhp the same as the evo iv straight out the factory, if I remember correctly new regulations allowed 276 bhp as seen on the evo 5, 6 and 7, after that regulations were lifted I believe resulting in the Fq's and Mr's topping out at 400 bhp off the production line
I bought one of those 15 years ago I still have it I paid pocket change for it it’s now worth three times what I paid for it thank you Mitsubishi it’s one of the best handling cars easiest to drive hard I’ve ever been in and I’ve been in a lot of fkn cars
@@Sher_hayat_x eventually but I am not ready at all the car is so clean and it drives so well it would give my purpose built road racing mustang a serious run for its money and the Mustang has over twice the horsepower and aftermarket suspension and brakes and way more tire on the ground but that little Evo is just crazy when it’s about to let go of the road rather than understeering or oversteering it just starts to drift over very slowly and controllably and you just take your foot off the gas a tiny bit if you want (or floor it and slide) and it goes right back into the corner I love this car. It’s also an Evo 1,so it’s very rare but still very simple and mechanical rather than computer controlled everything
the impreza cant go sideways because it has lower power and has a better awd system it is doing what its supposed to do prevent sliding when you cut the wheel sharply my 95 was like that took 90 degree turns and wouldnt cut loose
wow, ive gotta say out of the 3, id go with the evo, its by far the nicest EVO I ive seen! gotta say i was confused at first, because while i know tiff used to do top gear, i never knew quentin did, and they were at (what looks like) the top gear track as well, but if you say it was top gear i believe you, especially since it was your car!
haha..funny to watch Tiff try to aggressively drive the old subi...."and flick!"...lol.......and very cool to watch him aggressively drive the well used evo1.
nah mate, you just dont know how the NSX, when Honda first released the NSX it amazed everyone, The man that made the Mclaren F1 was in love with the nsx so much that he told himself that he would have to make a car that is 1000 times better than the nsx..
@goldsgym1244 evo have great handling and great suspension also you can drift anywhere anytime but impreza can't so thats why evo became the winner rather than a cheap classic.
This was indeed, Top Gear. Now Top Gear went into showbizz, and Fifth gear has taken over. Top Gear has nice shows, I enjoy them, but it is not really about cars anymore, Fifth Gear (Tiff Needell used to be in Top Gear) is. Quinten Wilson was very good, because you felt informed about relevant, daily life things, after he had finished a topic. Used to have glxi version of Mitsu, sharp, superb little thing! Of course the Evo, was dreaming for me back than.
Thanks for sharing this. Being on TV is fun! Came upon it searching for Tiff and NSX. I think the NSX will unleash it's potential better when on high speed corners and straights (a car partially developed with Senna surely can't be bad. Most other racing drivers who tested it liked it, Tiff must have a more unique preference!) BTW- the clothing and cars are quite obvious that it is not 5th..another same NSX video on youtube shows BBC.. 5th is a much younger show..from 02 and not on BBC
Nine years later hello from the future I love my Evo one as well I’m just glad I didn’t modify the shit out of it I bought it a long time ago and now it is worth so much more than I paid for it but I can’t bear to sell it it is way too fun to drive
when the sti's dccd is on full lock, then the torque split is 50/50. so the fronts would be pulling just as hard as the rears are pushing. which would cause understeer.
I would prefer the Evo over anything. Plus, you have to be out of your mind to say the NSX handles better than an Evo or Impreza because of it's Mid-Mounted engine. That doesn't mean it handles better. It's obvious the Evo handles the best out of this bunch, and was the most fun to drive for it's price.
This is blatantly Top Gear you muppets. Clarkson left at the end of the '90's but came bacl. Good vid mate, I'm getting an Evo IV & the insurance is going to kill me too
That's the point - fun. Enjoyability. Not to mention, you can pull off way better Gs going sideways. If you can make the car go sideways, that car rewards you with the ability to maintain cornering speed. The car is likely to not understeer. When you want to turn the car hard and it understeers, it's slow. I don't know why the Subaru understeers. My guess is most of the power goes to the front and not the rear. If you want a car to understeer, then stick to FWD cars.

Does it look good does it turn heads? My arse! looks horrible! bet he didn't realise the roads would be littered with shitty surbaru's ... the Evo 1-3 looks way better than that shape subaru....
@messination1 Wrong, Ayrton drove the Type-R version, completely different suspension setup, its a track-only version yet street legal. This stock base model NA1 NSX, i also consider very hard in a bad manner, to drive fast, bad setup causes it to have sudden unexpected behaviors, undersized tires and weight distribution are second and third cause factors. Dangerous.
Later model NSXs were better at drifting anyway. But that's not the point. The point is controllability, and if you are buying a car for the price of an NSX (which would be new) it better drift good regardless.
tiff and quentin have both been top gear presenters, those of you that say otherwise must have been a glint in the milkmans eye!!!!! when they hosted the show
M reg was 260bhp standard, theres only two models 240ps and 260ps, K & L reg were the 240, M & N 260 and the very rare P were 260, the odd P reg are 280bhp. Uk Impreza's are 208bhp. That was an Import on the vid, you can tell buy the seats what ps model they are, red seats with aerial on the A pillar are 240ps, grey seats and aerial on the boot 260ps (some came with folding mirrors and the newer Nadri steering wheel). But back to this video there fucking mad, Impreza is the best of them three.
just so you know, old top gear stopped, clarkson fell out with all the other presenters other than 1 and BBC employed Clarkson again. Fifth Gear employed all the others.
