@@Royalblue73 indiana Jones, lord of the rings, just a few. not saying one or the other is better, but there is the top tier anthems, and they are all AMAZING
It's truly special when a piece of music can consistently evoke such a strong emotional response. The power of a slow-building track to send shivers up your spine speaks volumes about its composition and its place in both music and movie history. These moments capture the essence of what makes a musical piece not just memorable but phenomenal, resonating with listeners and viewers across time. It's a testament to the artists' ability to connect deeply with their audience, creating experiences that linger long after the music ends.
Guthrie is on Tour with Hans Zimmer since like 2016 at this point. they played their last concert together for this year on the 9th of june because Guthrie is going on Tour with his own band this year.
@@andysatch9150Uhmm no. If you ask Guthrie, he would probably tell you it’s Shawn Lane hands-down. Guthrie is amazing one of the best of the best of what we have today but as Guthrie would say there is no one who could be like Shawn Lane ever.
@@zoeydee7168shawn lane is better in terms of skills (speed, has more complex chops) but thats about it, guthrie is the most complete guitarist ever, the best improviser ever, he is insanely talented, god made him to play the instrument, he is the best ever, i dont think we'll be able to see anyone like him ever.
Yes, just as the music is pure homage to the entirety of the Navy, not just the members of the Air Group (whom the movie is about). I had already enlisted in the Marine Corps 3 months before Top Gun blew into my life. I grew up an Air Force brat, and this song really pulls at the heartstrings of a long ago childhood...
It's incredibly moving to hear how the music from "Top Gun" resonates with you, especially with your deep connections to the military through the Marine Corps, Air Force, and the overall Navy community. Music has a profound way of touching our hearts and evoking memories from different chapters of our lives. The fact that this song pulls at your heartstrings and brings back memories of your childhood underscores the powerful emotional ties and homage it pays to those who serve and have served. Your personal connection adds a layer of depth to the appreciation of such a significant piece of movie and music history.@@Wolverines77
Jeeze.....! Along with GG's supersonic guitar solo, Bell Girl stole the show!! The way she sensuously coaxed various and _correct_ notes out of just _one bell_ was breathtaking! Bravo to all!!
It's fantastic to hear that you were eagerly anticipating "Danger Zone" and that you found the performance to be the best thing you've heard in a long time! The excitement for iconic tracks and the joy they bring when performed live is truly special. Such moments remind us of the power of music to evoke nostalgia and deliver unforgettable experiences. Keep enjoying these amazing musical moments!
I was in Hanover, Germany to see Zimmer live! What a great experience. I can only recommend to everyone to visit at least one of his concerts. You are definitely missing out on something if you are not going.
@@brosphbehemoth6141 Totally agree. The famous slow, memorable bit of this tune is 100% connected to guitar and not letting maestro Guthrie take that over (after his earlier wizardry) for the last section was a wee bit of a let down...speaking as a guitarist myself, though I think the general public also gets the instrument connection. Still, damn nice to see Guthrie getting even more AAA exposure here with another Zimmer tour.
Guthrie and his new 'band' - sounds like a musical dream! 😄 When guitar wizardry meets an orchestra, the result is indeed breathtaking. Maybe one day we'll see a 'Guthrie Govan and Orchestra' tour? That would be a show! 🎸🎵 Thanks for the great comment!
Harold Faltermeyer wrote this, for the original Top Gun in 1986. Zimmer adapted it for Top Gun: Maverick. Zimmer composed the rest of the score for the film, but this piece (Top Gun Anthem) is Faltermeyer's music.
Incredible!! I had a lot of chills when I remembered watching the movie a few months ago I'm still so admiring this superb orchestra 🤩 First the sound of the majestic bell then the keyboard and after what a masterful duo with the cello and the guitar it's just beautiful!! I would love one of these days to vibrate like that in real life in front of one of your concerts Hans Zimmer 🤩
I agree but I kind of appreciated the tact of playing the main melody on the cello, while giving GG an improvisation part. it seems respectful of Harold Faltermeyer's and Steve Steven's original composition while executing Zimmer's arrangement of it. gentlemanship between fellow musicians
Fan d ' Hans Zimmer..... ! Merci maestro pour tes compositions si inspirées et ces envolées lyriques qui sonnent déjà comme des classiques de J. Williams ou J. Horner.
Guthrie's guitar playing? It's like he whispers directly to your soul, crystal clear and dripping with emotion. It's not just music; it's a whole mood!
I went in 2018. Highly recommend. Not much of a concert person but it was incredible. I thought I'd post a couple of highlights but then I realised I was just going through the set list.
I've been twice. Be prepared for LOUD. Zimmer is a repressed heavy metal musician for sure lol. Also, as you can see, he doesn't just play what you hear on the official soundtrack if that'swhat you're after, he really gets creative and different. And, yeah, there's plenty of eye candy for the blokes lol.
Love the anthem!!! So iconic and timeless and for many many peoples the coolest movie anthem👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻🤘🏻🤘🏻🤘🏻🤘🏻 love Top Gun especially the Maverick Movie👌🏻👌🏻👌🏻
@@mejla6 They definitely need to be careful of (false) accusations of backing tapes - though here, someone 100% will be playing this live using a keyboard to trigger the samples. Fine looking gal hitting a big bell or hairy assed haggard on the keyboard? I guess they went for the image choice here. Still, they could have set up the real thing. Could also have used smaller (for < footprint) bells + 'big sound' sample triggers on them - she seemed to know what she was doing, rhythm wise...pun intended ;)
Your observations highlight the balance between visual presentation and authenticity in live performances. Utilizing technology, such as keyboard-triggered samples, offers flexibility and can enhance the show's visual appeal, as you mentioned with the choice of a visually striking moment over a more traditional setup. It's interesting to consider the alternatives, like smaller bells with 'big sound' sample triggers, which could maintain both the visual and auditory impact while staying true to the rhythm. Your insights into the performance's production choices offer a thoughtful perspective on modern live music presentation.@@ChrisM541
I completely agree, Guthrie Govan not only possesses astounding talent but his humility is truly rare. It's wonderful to see someone with such ability maintain such modesty. His music indeed seems like a message from the heavenly realms! I hope you get to see him in concert one day - it will be an unforgettable experience. Thanks for sharing your admiration
Haha, yes, playing the giant bell for Hans Zimmer would certainly be one of the most unique job descriptions you could imagine! The idea of being the main bell player at a concert of one of the greatest film composers sounds almost like something out of a movie. Maybe that could be the theme for Zimmer's next composing project! Thanks for the fun comment and for adding a bit of humor to the conversation
It's wonderful to hear you enjoyed the performance so much! Brilliant performances really do have a way of leaving a lasting impression. What part of the performance stood out to you the most?
Well, Hans Zimmer for sure is the most hottest and most wanted film composer currently out there. But I would still say that the John Williams is the greatest film composer. Star Wars, Indiana Jones, Jurassic Park, ET, Harry Potter, Schindler's list etc... But funnily enough, neither of them (Hans or John) are not even necessary the richest film score composers. They are constantly in the top 10 but it depends what list you are looking at. There is also Ennio Morricone (all the famous westerns), Danny Elfman (Tim Burton stuff and Spider-Man) and Alan Silvestri (The Avengers) popping up regularly.
Couldn't agree more! Hans Zimmer is like the Gandalf of film scores-waving his baton, magic happens, and suddenly we're all on an epic emotional journey. Who else can make you feel like you're soaring through the skies or battling on the high seas from the comfort of your seat?
Guthrie Govan's recognition and admiration within the music community is undeniable. His talent for guitar playing is exceptional, capturing the attention of fans and fellow musicians alike, often from just a glimpse of him in action. Govan's versatility and mastery across various genres make his performances memorable and highly anticipated, proving that his reputation as one of the finest guitarists of his generation is well-deserved. Whether through his solo work, collaborations, or performances with bands like The Aristocrats, Govan continues to push the boundaries of guitar music, leaving a lasting impression on all who hear him play.
This is simply outstanding! BUT... I'm saying (not asking😉) that we need to hear the intro from Days Of Thunder!! One of the greatest themes that Zimmer ever made!
