I took my little sister who had never seen the original Top Gun and had almost no interest in this new one to see it and she came out of it ecstatic talking about how amazing it was and how she loved the stunts and the characters.

I'm a 38 year old black man. When Tenet came out during the pandemic, I drove 90 miles to see that movie because everything was closed in LA. LA to San Diego The last movie I saw just before the pandemic was Bloodshot at the theater in the Orleans Casino when I was living in Vegas. First movie I saw in a theater when I moved to Texas was Archenemy. I've seen Top Gun in IMAX twice. Before that, Dr. Strange, Spiderman, 2000 Mules, Wonder Woman 1984, and more. Support the industry otherwise we get crap movies. I don't watch streaming or TV because I notice the quality drop. People that watch TV generally speaking I feel just like low quality crap. Occasionally Netflix will release something great like Extraction and every now and then a TV series will be quality like Loki. But for the most part if you want to see great film, movies are where it's at.

I've already seen Top Gun Maverick 3 times and as someone that was in the Navy, I can't love this movie any more, it makes me so proud to have served my country. It has now become my favorite movie of all time. I can't wait to see it again.

There are no bad ideas, only bad execution. Top Gun Maverick, Cobra Kai, and Creed all seemed like bad ideas on paper but turned out to be masterpieces because they executed correctly. Ghostbusters Afterlife and the Star Wars sequel trilogy are examples of how not to do a legacyquel (record box office notwithstanding). Literally any movie or series from the 80s or 90s can be brought back with legacy characters and actors with the correct take on the material.

I knew it was going to do boffo box office when the OG Top Gun kept ranking really high on the iTunes charts all this month. The hype was real. And that A+ Cinemascore means Maverick is going to hold incredibly well all next month. I actually think the good will from Maverick will help Cruise & McQuarrie level up the next Mission Impossible's box office

@@kishenkoolskills90 Mission Impossible is a very International skewing movie series. Its International Box office is often higher than top Comicbook or Star Wars movies. Its domestic audience has always been limited. If the last MI opened as much as Top Gun Maverick, then it would have gone well past a billion.

@@kishenkoolskills90 I guess I'm the only one that didn't like Ghost Protocol. Paula Patton was horrible, the villain was forgettable, and Renner couldn't hang with Cruise as far as charisma. Rogue Nation and Fallout are my favorite next to the first one directed by DePalma.

I went to see TGM Thursday night at a Regal in San Antonio that doesn't get much business unless a Marvel movie comes out. I was honestly surprised at how many people were in the theater. I'm guessing with the city being known as Military City USA, the movie must have appealed to a lot of moviegoers in this area.

It is suprising because his main franchise (M:I movies) only became huge in the 2010s, the franchise never reached those box office numbers before the 4th movie, which was a major change of waters as it gave new life to the franchise. However M:I movies seem to lack any support with teens and the over 35+ audience isn't strong as it is with a Bond movie.

Saw it at 1PM IMAX(the best way to watch it), theatre was packed. I was surprised the amount of women that came to see this movie. It was refreshing to see such a big action movie done almost entirely with practical efx.

I don't think you could make another Top Gun set in time after this one. There is a story to tell though. It's the one we got hints of in this movie. The first time he was an instructor and he had a fling with the bartender. Not sure how you could do that but to me that's the only story that would really make sense.

I have a feeling a lot of it was due to quality. It's the same reason the MI movies went from just moderate hits to massive hits. Cruise is a factor, but high quality big budget movies make money.

Bob's Burgers has a very dedicated fandom. 🍔 I'm glad we rolled out and supported. The plot, IMO, could've been bigger, but WOW the animation itself was impressive! 😱 The dance choreography! 🎉 Such a 90s/2000s nostalgia, of cartoons "get the big screen treatment".

Top Gun Maverick having 58% domestic vs 42% international makes it hard to find comparable box office analytics for further predictions. In two weeks Jurassic is almost guaranteed to open over 50% international revenue. Watching Apple's Teheran, waiting for the Orville and The Boys, at this point missing new Orville for much longer if I keep choosing only one non recurring subscription per month.

I was expecting Grace to point to diversity as a problem and how apparently there was lack of it when it comes to big roles in the movie-however this movie is clearly a Tom Cruise show (and it worked out great), it's called Maverick for a reason. And the main supporting role was a son of a character from a previous movie so that was set in stone diversity wise. All other roles were, in my opinion, equally present and well represented with a lot of diversity and even the two guys who supported Maverick the most were black guys.

My 12 yr old son and I went to see it this weekend. He really loved the first movie and wanted to see this one. I was hesitant, but decided to go because its crazy Tom Cruz!! Lol Great movie!! We enjoyed it very much. P.S. There were alot, I mean ALOT of older people at the theater!! LOTS!! And I'm 45.

This is what blockbuster movies used to be like,good plot,likeable characters,no forced agendas or politics. I recommend that everyone see this in IMAX,this is one for the ages,there probably wont be anymore like these made in the future given the current state of Hollywood and media. Sooooo good to see a movie like this doing well at the theaters. You can really see every dollar from its budget in the movie. We’ve been lucky in 2022 to have movies like The Northman and The Batman use their budgets well too 🔥

I'm glad to see a non superhero movie (as much as I like them) doing well. Is unfortunate this will last only one week everywhere but the US apparently, as the dinos will eat the box office this week on several markets, I'm watching it this Wednesday :D

Hi Grace I keep reading that Tom Cruise is the last of the big Hollywood superstars. I would love for you to do a segement on this detailing what the this actually all means, especially for all new and upcoming stars of the future and the move to streaming and how this has played a role in these kinds of superstars becoming less and less of a thing.

I loved Top Gun Maverick, saw it in IMAX. I'm going to see it again this week and I never do that, ever. Far too many times I'll really enjoy the theater experience only wishing later I had seen something again but let it slip away.

With the increase in box office for the 6th Mission Impossible film, I think those films need A-list talent alongside Cruise to get extra momentum at the box office.? The next film doesn't seem to have that, so that might prevent it from crossing $800 million or even a passing a billion.

From Knoxville, which you mentioned, I feel I’m the only person in town who didn’t see Top Gun. But, we are going next weekend. We just had some unusual commitments this weekend.
