This picture proves that a true widescreen release of Top Gun has never been made. Every widescreen version (be it dvd, blu-ray, or even laser-disc) are all just full screen with the black bars cropped in. Come on Paramount, a movie like this is all about presentation.

@sakusia The Exocet missile is usually fired from attack aircraft, although it more than likely could be fired from a ship or ground position, the British suffered a direct hit from an Argentine Fighter jet during the Falkland Island conflict.In response they developed a missile to shoot down the incoming exocet, so if they were carrying anti exocet missles, they would be intended to shoot at incoming missles, if they were trying to strike the carrier they would be using an exocet missle.

Unfortunately, Harold Faltermeyer didn't release this uncut. It's one of the unreleased music from the score cause of what I recall, legal issues. Maybe since he's working on Top Gun 2's soundtrack, he will sometime down the line release the score with this in it.
