Given the flight model, approach path, and engine management systems are completely unrealistic, unless there the enemy, lets hope no Navy recruits Pilots based on an approach flown on an Xbox. If they do, there going to need a submarine to recover the bits.

it's not, obvious cheats as it's 100% impossible to be 100% AoA and glide slope when the sim THROWS you into the sim with already unstable controls and camera shaking shit
@@cgpunkrocker That might explain it. I can't see how this is perfect when you were low for some part, AOA slightly high and called to move slightly left. That, to me, would not mark perfect.
@@TheOnlyPommyman AFAIK, there's no left-vs-right built into the scoring - score is based on glideslope, speed, what line you catch, and setting throttle to MIL. For the AoA being slightly off, as long as orange circle is still lit, I don't think it'll count against you. Similar thing with glideslope - they give you a tiny bit of leeway.
I believe it was around 40-50% power. You have to find the perfect spot for power and be super delicate keeping your airspeed between 117-120 knots while maintaining glide slope.
With sweat on my head I now have the first million points, I can't get the descent speed right, and think I'm playing too much with the gas. You do it fantastic, when you come down do you immediately close the gas? Thanks for making your video, great done!
come down? as in hitting the deck? No, you speed up to max in case of an improper landing, and if you land it without incident then you can shut off your throttle. for your descent speed, you want to maintain 115-130k. keep the O just above the deck and watch your AOA. If its in the red, slow down, if its in the green, speed up. Otherwise you are doing pretty well! I bet you can make 2 mil real soon!
Man literally did a straight in of course it was easy (well not really easy, but a lot easier. Will the challenge let you do anything other than a straight in?
@@cgpunkrocker Which is completely unrealistic, but because for some daft reason MSFS decided pushing the throttle fully forward and that engaging reheat, as in any other sim needed to be replaced by 4 separate buttons to achieve full reheat, which does not happen in real life, they also decided no F18 pilot in real life lands and engages reheat as he does. It is completely unrepresentative of a real approach.
Perfect. Couple of things: - TCN (beacon), Basic Recover Course should be set - It's "Case I" good weather conditions, should land with carrier break: left hand turns above the carrier at 800ft. - Carrier should move toward the wind with combined off the deck 24+ knots - Usually: Left DDI is to HUD, in case of main HUD failure and right is set to HSI to see BRC and TCN beacon
I got a perfect score. See if my trick works for you. I removed the elevator axis from my joystick and used only throttle to control the attitude. Kept the velocity vector (the circle with three arms in the center of HUD) right above the ships deck and kept the speed at 120. had to make minor adjustments to throttle. Good luck
I also find this unrealistic. And this is a Super hornet, which is like 6000 lbs heavier than the hornet. Carrier landings at AOA +8° should be between 122 and 148 kts depending on weight for the hornet at flaps full.
The boat is moving, notice how you need to put the velocity vector slightly up and to the right of the landing area in order to maintain lineup and glide slope.
congrats. but honestly i dont understand why this landing scored that high, whilst glidepath was not perfect. had similar approaches but didnt get that score.
Same. My highest is 1.75 million A grade and I feel like my approach was cleaner than this one. I'm gonna call it "good enough" because I care more about flying a realistic textbook approach than some arbitrary nonsense a programmer made up that doesn't equal what an actual Navy pilot would strive for. Good on OP for getting the 2 million assuming he's honest about no cheats, but I think the scoring system is a little out of whack.
MSFS is not a good representation of real life flying. DCS is far closer. You were way right and would have been told a lot earlier you were, the power settings are a joke, you have to move the throttles far more to maintain power and what's with the floating bit at the end? You hit the deck like your in a kenwood mixer in real life, with the engines spooling to afterburner, good attempt but very arcadey for me from Asobo on this one.
