I have no idea what Jimmy really thought about getting caught for his tax issues but massive respect for owning it and always running with the jokes. It would be so easy to get hissy about it but he held it up and said “yup, caught me” and then sorted what needed to be done. Massive respect for that.
I love the fact that Jimmy himself talks about his tax avoidance story in almost every show, before somebody else has a chance to heckle him with it. 😄
Could you do a compilation of Jimmy Carr tax avoidance jokes/mini speeches, please? I say mini speeches cause, I believe it was Jon, made a very good one (the one were he talks about the PM not being able to do certain things because not everyone pays their tax), put that in there too, Thanks!
I can't find that episode anywhere. Bet Jimmy had a fit and now they can't show it all for legal reasons. Anyone got a copy somewhere!? I think it was series 12 ep 13.
It's what he needed to do to have a future career. He apologized and then took his lumps on national TV. Had he tried to hide it, bury it or avoid it in any way, he wouldn't have a job hosting shows.
@@roachdoggjr7393 nah that guy is pretty awkward usually. Hes the one that couldnt contain himself and challeneged jon to a dance off when jon said dancing is just fancy walking. It was like "yeah no one was asking, bud" but hes already strutting down this imaginary catwalk, flicking his imaginary hair around.... i think hes just a bit of a weirdo all round.
Once in a while they get a guest on who's not a comedian and they just make fun of 'em. The did it with Jedward who (I think) didn't know the panel were making fun of them. This guy didn't take it well because he knew they were mocking him so he was kinda defensive.
@@bunyabunyatv853 I'm assuming you don't support the existence of police, the army, firefighters, hospitals, refuse collection, roads, street lights, pavements, parks, libraries, social services, community services, children's services, etc. Because all those are fully or mainly paid for by taxes. If you don't want to pay - fine. But if a burglar beats the crap out of you and you lie there in desperate need of medical and police help - then when you dial 999 the operator should tell you to go f yourself.
I think the "affairs on strictly" bit at 2:40 hit really close to home considering rachel... who was on strictly dancing got divorced from her husband shortly after being on it and began dating her dance partner off of the show less than a month after getting divorced which leads to the imagination what they were doing during the filming of the show that led to her getting a divorce (I mean atleast her and the guy are now married with a kid but still)
@@simonkevnorris And she didn't bother to go to half of the races that season. And I'm sorry, but when you're offered the chance to follow the biggest motorsport in the world and get paid for doing it, you take that opportunity, instead of skulking around back in the UK.
As an italian it's quite amusing seeing all this British people defending tax evasion in the comments, keep going like that and you will end up just like Italy
Jimmy was for sure advised by his lawyer, agent or whoever that whenever something gets mentioned about the tax avoidance put your head down and take it. He’s always so uncharacteristically meek when it gets brought up.
Only on British television would you be able to openly joke about scandles Like this. Americans would never do that and just try pretend it didn't happen
Especially the "affairs on strictly" bit referring to the show strictly dancing which considering Rachel (the blonde on the show who works the board with the letters and numbers)
How they dealt with Jimmy after his tax stuff came out was how they SHOULD have dealt with angus deaton when he got caught fucking hookers and supposedly doing coke. I think the tax thing is worse as it actually affects others, and angus got torn apart and made to leave the show, then both Ian and especially Paul went on to trash him publically to this day. What a wierd tangent i just went on, sorry if you actually read that shit.
I mean the "affairs on strictly" line hit hella close to home considering Rachel Riley who was married at the time she went on "strictly dancing" and got a divorce from her husband shortly after and then within a month was with her dance partner from the show which only leaves to the imagination what they were doing during the show while she was married....
@@richardgrace4500 speakimg as someone from the states, it is possible that nothing happened until AFTERWARDS. Niki Bella and Artem were partners and she was in a relationship with John Cena. Ppl knew they had chemistry from the jump but they didn't get together until John tossed her
Ben Middleton i was just piling on the Rachel is shit at dancing band wagon. Rachel is awesome and she has a great sense of humour besides being stunning and a genius. In fact I really don’t know anything about beyonce except that she us famous.
@@sblack48 I used to dance professionally at ten years old, my choreographer of our troop did nearly a decade on Broadway. She taught me to dance, and if Rachel got a dozen dedicated lessons from her or someone as good or better, she'd become a brilliant dancer. Dancing is easy, and as long as you have a working body and mind and a level of desire to do it, anyone can do it. I'd be happy to give her lessons anyday!
@@benmiddleton4365 yes but then Jimmy wouldn't be able to take the piss out of her! I think you are overthinking this. They have to test her about something. They can't very well laugh at her looks brains or personality. She's the most adorable girl on earth. What's left? Skimpy dresses and early exit from strictly. That's it.
7:23 would have been some genius prep, but it'd have been so funny if Jimmy then pulled out a huge stack of fake cash from under the desk and started sheepishly counting it :)
Who's the guy in the pink open shirt that Jimmy complimented on the gender reassignment? I don't know if it was a joke or a sincere compliment, I just wanna know his name. Like, what does he do and why was he invited as a guest? He wasn't too comfortable being there taking a few jokes and jabs.
Okay, this is for you Brits. I cannot tell your regional dialects apart. Is this how you hear Americans? Can you guys tell the difference between a Midwest accent and a Southern accent? I feel stupid out here
Not a Brit, but not an American either so I feel like I can answer this confidently. Regional dialects are first and foremost something some people have a good ear for and some don't, so regardless, the answer to your question will be a mix of yes and no. Personally, I don't know the exact regions of very many dialects in America, but the Midwest and Southern accents are very easy to tell apart from each other, for me. However, I probably couldn't differentiate between the more specific dialects such as a Bostonian's or a New Yorker's. I can tell they're from the East Coast but not where specifically. Some are also easier to pick out from one another than others. So again, yes and no. It really depends. I truly believe, given clear examples, you yourself could differentiate between a Cockney accent (think of Michael Caine) and a Yorkshire accent (think of Sean Bean). Just have a listen and you'll notice they're quite different but both still noticeably English in their own right. You get better at telling dialects apart the more films/shows you watch set in their region, or the longer you live there. Haha, sorry for the longwinded response.
I’m a Brit and even in our own country some times we cannot understand each other , there are regional accents then you have the north south divide then you have Scottish accent welsh accent Irish accent and then the other accent we can think of , when we hear you guys talking we wonder how you guys manage , you have so many accents over there plus it seems to me a Majority of your country men / women don’t even have a good grasp of you own language , just an observation ,,
Matt Joren I’m a Brit and I can tell some American accents apart but not all of them. I notice New York, New Jersey, Boston, California, Texas (general Southern really), and New Orleans as obvious ones. I couldn’t distinguish a Midwest accent I don’t think, and certain states sound very similar. Canadian is funny cos I just wait for the ‘out’ sound and there it is. :D It is true that sometimes our regional accents/dialects are difficult for each other. Geordie (Newcastle) is a tough one. I knew a guy from there who deliberately toned down his accent when he left Newcastle so people could understand him! :D I’m from near Birmingham so my accent is a mild Brummie one. The Brummie accent is notoriously unpopular with other Brits and VERY hard to imitate accurately. :)
Michael Sodde good shit, I have a Midwest accent and it’s pretty much the same as California. See, I don’t know much about British geography, and I don’t consume a whole lot of British media so it’s hard for me to learn. I guess I’m gonna start learning tho cuz all you Brits know the American accents 😂 cheers man
Samael It’s interesting, I just remembered regarding the Midwest accent. My favourite actor is Robert De Niro and my favourite performance of his was Travis Bickle in Taxi Driver (also my favourite film). Apparently, I found out after watching it about 6 times and not really paying attention to it, he put on a Midwest accent for Travis. He said he used to listen to hours of tapes of Midwesterners to get the accent right. Next time I watch it I’ll try to pick out the differences from his regular accent, which sounds like a typical New York accent to me, but I might be wrong.
If you enjoy media folk being hung out to dry, watch Angus Deayton on HIGNFY after his little jaunt with various substances and company. I thought Paul Merton was in particularly good form. Jimmy acted with a certain elan, Deayton just looks uncomfortable.
That horrible studio is more distracting than anything to watch, who came up with the idea of using big lined areas in muddy colors..it gives me headache
There’s something about jimmy that I really like and dislike - I really respect how quick he is and he’s clearly really funny and makes me laugh a lot - but there something about him that annoys me - I feel like he might be mildly autistic or sommat - don’t really care that his laugh is weird and the scandal coz we all do bad shit but I just dunno what it is that annoys me
Watch more of him. I'm not from an Anglophone country but I understand him just fine. You just have to get used to that Scouse accent (or St Helens I guess, sort of different from Scouse). The fault isn't really with him is it?
The gender reassignment comment and all that appearance stuff with that guy with long hair, I was surprised at the bullying. Pretty mean if you ask me, just really going for it on comments of his appearance.
