I'm jealous. When I was a kid, my dad went through a carpentry phase. He built me a tree house in our backyard, a bookshelf, a wooden toolbox, a napkin holder, and a bird house. My mom thinks it may have been some kind of mid-life crisis.

Not true. I used to work in food. When I cook, shit gets cleaned WHILE I cook. Rarely leave much of a mess if any. My wife on the other hand.....looks like a bomb went off. I use these words regularly haha.

Plus he did it making it sound like a "nice gesture", when he really just tried to force his creation down his family's throat not taking in consideration that they might want other stuff for breakfast.

I also did not saw how he made it a 'nice gesture'. It was an exchange, he cooks, you clean. That is pretty common way to split labour in most households, one parent cooks, another cleans kitchen afterwards. Splitting labour is the fairest option, if that is somehow bad, wait until you hear that most women have to cook, clean kitchen and the household all by themselves! You are in for a shock in your life!
