As a 51 year old, having been laid off from my tech job of 5 years, I can totally relate to the frustration. The amount of competition, the ageism, the ridiculous questions during applications...it's an absolute siege every day.
Yeah all the bull crap interview questions let alone the job application and medicals for oil gas and construction jobs here in Australia pisses me off so I just sub for cash now.
They can’t say you are too old, what they say is, you’re over qualified for this job! What, over qualified for a senior position? 😂. All fine until they see you on the zoom call 😂, oh well.
The Bride and I are kicking around going full time in September of 2025. We're hoping to find her a 30+ hour a week job doing medical coding. This video gave us some great ideas on how to find her work. We just found your channel...great job!
Great video!! Just to clarify. The hourly charge isn't all in your pocket. There are expenses for certified inspectors and techs. There is insurance, marketing and parts for inventory. There is also an investment in the educational piece of becoming certified. As an RV'er and certified inspector and tech. I wouldn't hire anyone but certified. But you can make a great living and make great friends. 😊 Thank you both.
My memory is not as good as it use to be and I’m 37 so I decided to get out and got a truck driver job with my bf. Been doing it 5 years and seen and did a lot. Left my corrections career after 11 years to do it,,!all my grandparents had alztimers and have passed away I thought with my memory not as good that may happen to me younger so I got out. My sisters seem to think it’s because I have gone out and done so much in my life that I don’t remember everything. But I got lots of videos and pictures to last me.,
There are less expensive options to camp other than paying $65/ night. Harvest Hosts, Hip Camp, The Dyrt, Thousand Trails, etc. thanks for sharing the great job info. I’m 52 and currently unemployed and have struggled finding another job but these are wonderful suggestions to check out.
I have questions regarding insurance. My rig is brand new and insurance for my car class c is over $500 per month. Any suggestions on how to get a lower rate. I live south east Texas
You ministered to my soul girl. I'm 59, lost my job of 15 years, 😮husband has been sick so I'm our only support, its been a mess, yet, it hurt my heart to see the expressions on your face especially in the beginning of the video, because i felt the same way. Its hard when everything you apply for is online and they just see my age, i don't get to win them over with my sparkling personality lol. I'm fit, healthy, and i want to work lol. Also may i add that it is awesome that you two are living now rather than waiting until retirement! Death is not our enemy, disability is. I want to do as much as i can while i can. Good on you two for doing it! Love the name of your channel!
Awe thank you so much. You know, we have had many challenges like this in our 35 years together. This too shall pass… it always does. I hope you find the perfect opp for you as well. Take care and thanks for watching.
I do light short delivery. On a scooter I carry around on a tail hitch. Pull into a new location, and turn on DoorDash and UberEATS. Locals will pay me to drive all around their city... okay!
Excellent video with great tips. I am a nurse working full time remotely. I work as a patient navigator preparing patients and charts for their physician appointments, surgeries, procedures, etc.
How did you get into this field of nursing? I am trying to work remote and having a difficult time. I currently work as a hospice travel nurse, but have experience in ICU, Med-Surg, Oncology and Post Partum.
I was full time RV, was layed off remote work in January, just finished my last unemployment check, and had to put my RV in storage..... if I would have run across this video when you posted it I might be in a better place, but I love your advice and I will start all that today so I can get back on the road... thank you! Thank you!
I didn’t catch if it were mentioned but whenever life tried to hand me lemons as a single mom, I cleaned houses and supported my family. If I needed work in this day and age, I’d find a 55+ RV park, get permission from park management and hang my shingle to do housecleaning. When we get back to Idaho, I’m going to reach out to my past house cleaner and ask if she’ll detail clean our new to us rig. I have mobility issues and can’t clean as well as I used to. Don’t always have to live off-grid to save money. We find an in-expensive park with a good monthly rate. Yuma AZ was dirt cheap and they really need good mobile techs. They have a great black tank cleaner, but the guy that sold us our rig was shady as was the guy that worked on our A/C. We couldn’t find someone to fix the bedroom slide but fortunately, I have an amazing husband and he figured it out.
Well, funny you ask. Since I lost my traditional job and went freelance, I’m looking into new insurance. I will report back if I find anything worth sharing. It’s all pretty painful. lol
Hi! Just found your channel. We are retired and in our 2nd year of fulltime RVing and LOVE IT! We bought an acre of land in FL and put full hook ups in, as a landing spot in the winter or just to have for whenever. I am going to pass this great info along to our youngest son. He graduated a 4 yr. college last year and still has not found work, so he delivered for an Amazon 3rd party co. and got laid off and is currently looking. His degree is in Broadcasting/Digital Media/Communications. He said he does not have the right equipment needed to be able to free lance🤷🏻♀️. I’m going to catch up on your videos….you both are naturals in front of the camera! Keep up the good work!
Awe thanks so much. Tell your son to hang in there. It took our son a year to find a job after graduation. He’s in cyber security. There are so many digital jobs out there. It takes some digging, and you may have to work for a little less to prove your abilities, but they are there. We are thinking about doing a part two for remote jobs. We’ve been asked so many questions that I think we can share more now. Coming soon…
I am so sorry you lost your job. I lost mine during Covid. Im now 65 but still looking to work. We bought a motor home and it hasnt been out of the yard because. I cant find a remote job for my age plus Im severly disabled from a stroke in 2018. But Im still looking and I thank you for all the ideas. Good luck and good travels. Kevin Yandell.
Thank you for the info, I really appreciate the suggestions! I'm working online from my RV but am looking to add another job. I use HomeFi for internet, so I can travel and connect anywhere in the U.S. It's been going well and now I'm looking to boost my income. Thanks again!
Sorry for your job loss. That’s a real bummer. You guys have inspired me. I’m over 65 still working and planning retiring from my regular Day job in December. I currently work from home, but I have a restriction I have to be within two hours of my office . I do not plan on going full-time, but it would like the ability to make some money along the way.
Or start your own business!! That way you don’t have a boss anymore! There is teachable. Teachable is great. Again own business! Write what u know with AI! Sell your book , which doesn’t have to be that long! Just write what you know. People will buy it!
Great video! I’m working on a set up to work from my camper and currently have T-Mobile cell service. Considering starlink as our main Internet access option while on the road, but I noticed you said in your video that you use T-Mobile. Does that cover your band and Internet needs for remote working regardless of where you are? Or if you’re Boondocking in a remote location, would you still use starlink? Thanks!
We use both. We try T-Mobile, mainly because it easier to setup. Then, if it’s not good, we setup Starlink. We have the flagpole buddy. Hope that helps. We honestly wouldn’t be able to do this full time and working without both options and backup.
I’m no longer full time rving but I work remotely for a credit card merchant (payment service). We lower companies overhead by reducing merchant fee’s. It’s very flexible & rv friendly. Before that I was a life insurance agent. If you’re an unattached agent you have a lot more flexibility.
Thank you for this video! Fellow Floridian here. My husband and I have a goal to start full-time traveling in our RV in a couple of years (waiting for the last of the kids to turn 18). My husband is already location independent, but as a trial attorney (I hate it!!) I am very much location dependent. You guys have given me hope that I can eventually make a career transition and not only be happy with what I do for a living, but also love where I do it from.
I know there are lots of online legal gigs out there. Start exploring. It’s never too soon to start planning. Let us know if we can help in your journey. We hope to release a course on how we sold everything and transitioned to full time on the road.
@@liketheresnotomorrow I definitely know it's never too soon to start planning. Our target year is 2027. An online legal gig wouldn't be bad, the key is finding one that works with my Florida Bar license. I'd love to connect with you guys sometime in the future.
@@HannahLockwood82 have you considered contacting an out-of-state law firm looking to expand into Florida (other than by having one of their attorneys take the Florida bar)? The firm for which I work in Ohio has discussed opening a Florida location to service our snowbird clients but we currently don't have anyone admitted to the Florida bar.
super awesome video! We are working on going full time in about a year while my wife is on her grad school rotations. I recently graduated with my marketing degree last year and have been applying for jobs on LinkedIn but that has yielded very little results. Could you make a video with more Upwork tips or could we have a conversation about it? Not sure if others are interested in a video but I would be! I created an account and so waiting for it to be verified so I can look for work.
Well done. 👍 Not many people talk about those industry related jobs. Solar and especially cleaning the septic tanks. 😮💪🤔👍💰🛠 One of those "Dirty Jobs" that literally pays what....$260.00 an hour! With a captive audience that needs and lines up for your service. 💪💡💸 Thanks for all those options 😊
For sure! I went back and looked, we paid $300 for the Kleentank guy. Now, we have two 50gal black and two 50 grey, so it might now be as much for others, but dang that’s some decent $. Thanks for watching.
Thank you so much for this information. I'm 52. My house just went under contract and I am purchasing a 5th wheel and truck on the day it settles. I've been out of work for a bit. I owned a bar/restaurant that I sold for break even, but my primary background is in sales and management. I was even a funeral director for 20 years. I don't need to make a lot of money to be a full timer, but I also don't want to be tied to one place. Remote work seems so hard to find, but I do have quite a bit of experience with social media marketing. I've always been a skilled writer and proofreader. You've given me some hope that there are opportunities out there for me to make the most of this new lifestyle I've chosen.
Well done again. We’re very much retired and on borrowed time because my wife’s health has us limited. So live life to the fullest and take advantage of your opportunities while you can.
Fantastic video and comments. Know exactly how you feel. Got laid off a few years ago at 59 after 31 years with a company. I went through all of the emotions ups and downs. Left the industry but eventually went back at a "fancy" position but it all worked for the best. I will be retiring in a few weeks and hope to do a bitvof traveling. Good luck in all and safe travels.
Thank you for this! I'm sorry you lost your job, but I'm hopeful good things coming your way!! We too will boondock more often than not and don't mind that at all and will add to the solar for sure. My husband and I are hitting the road after a house sale hopefully early next year Spring/Summertime. We will both need jobs. We have been doing months of research on this lifestyle and are doing it, but the remote work has been frustrating to find. I have a varied background, mostly in healthcare, so this has been biggest challenge is "how will we make $$"....and have healthcare. Your video was helpful and offering some new websites and thoughts to go off of, so thank you for that!! I have found quite a bit of resources online for actual remote companies and there are so many, but still looking and feel frustrated at times thinking I'm missing something.... Safe travels to you both!
It can certainly be frustrating! We did a second jobs video that may be helpful in your research. ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-8bAByD6jKMw.htmlsi=DE4s2UGsNE7qJd4a
I would love to go full time! 5 years is my goal. I am an electrician, but think an rv tech would be great! Electrician today, plummer tomorrow, hvac the next and some light mechanics sprinkled in too. It would never be dull and I think solar installs would be right up my alley! I have wondered if a person could go to an area for 5-6 months and get a job in there trade like electrician? Would a company hire someone like me seasonally? Just a thought
I think if you do your research, get the right training and certifications… yes, you could totally do it. I think the key is being able to generate business for yourself. Start your research. The info is out there, and if you’re determined, you’ll find a way. I can tell by your excitement, you can make it happen👍
Good morning, I just found your video on youtube, full of good advice, thank you for sharing I have lived in my RV FT for the last 6 years. Last November I was let go from my job with no notice or reason. I think it was a sign telling me to go for my dream to travel all over the world. Just like I believe it was a sign for me to come across your channel, Like There's No Tomorrow. Now I'm trying to become a work camper. Do you have any good advice on how to get started as a solo work camper? The majority of the work camper positions I have seen are looking for couples TIA
I really don’t have much on it right now. I am planning a part two remote jobs video. If I find anything good, maybe I’ll put it in that one. Thanks for tuning in.
I love you 2.. I'd love your life. Need a partner first..lol..but would love to work from home remotely in preparation to RVing next year. Any suggestions?
You can do it! There are also tons of solo travelers, many females actually. Join some groups on Facebook and follow along. I have another remote jobs video coming out in the next month or so. The suggestions in this video are a decent start but there are so many more.
I’m not super familiar but look through the comments on the video. I think there was someone who mentioned they work a remote healthcare type gig. Barry’s sister has always been a nurse and she now works from home online. I know those jobs are out there.
My husband has a very strong stomach and he’s nitpicky too; these are some great options for him when he actually retires. Great video and much appreciated.
I’m 37 been team trucking with my bf 5 years now. I do it for travel I’ve seen so much and rent cars a few times a year to explore on weekends but my house in Florida is draining me now especially since insurance rates went way up. I feel like I’m throwing money away now. Have to get stuff done to rent it but I kinda want to sell and get a rv . But I’m also kinda tired of driving so much and want to chill but also make money from home. I love it out west. Glad I quit my career as a corrections officer after 11 years I wanted out to explore and boy did I explore lol. I take so many pics and videos I could have been uploading stuff to youtube but that takes time too so I’ve just been uploading to my fb and family and friends love it and always want more. I get why y’all sold the house .,glad I found y’all. I just hit my Home Screen on RU-vid and scrolled down like 7 videos and there u were..thanks for all the advice
Man, that’s awesome. Nice to have you. Florida is getting way expensive. Our son is still there. Pretty sure he’s leaving in a year. lol we love it out west in the winter. Thanks for joining us on our journey. Hope you find your perfect journey as well
@@liketheresnotomorrow yeah i still got my house in fl my house value tripled since I bought it 2014. But insurance went way up cuz of that hurricane that hit so it’s a extra $300 a month. But my family is there so that makes it kinda hard when they want u around more.,thanks for info I’ll be looking for more.,glad I read a lot of comments,
I have a question, may be you can answer it or help with your ideas and with your experience. My back story I am widowed for a very long time and 66 yrs old. I want to get on the road and travel. Being on a fixed income. I do had carving of Indians, Military, camp signs and make Adirondack and Punisher chairs. The travel trailer I will be getting will be home for me, I going to get a bunk trailer that I will dismantle for my tool storage etc. I was planning, as go from town to town across the country selling my carving, signs and chairs even side jobs as building contractor. Do you think it would be somewhat prosperous to pay my way. I was considering getting training on travel trailer repairs ( I do like that idea) thank you in advance. Best of luck to you guys.
I will be honest, repairs are constant BUT most can be done by researching and watching "how to" videos. There are lots of Facebook groups that are helpful. Follow the ones of your trailer manufacturer. The traveling craft show scene is a whole scene. My sister used to do it with her hand-carved purses, but it was too much work and costly for her in the end. She didn't have an RV so she was staying in hjotels and such. So maybe you could de better with it. If I remember, there are facebook groups for that as well. Good luck to you.
@@liketheresnotomorrow thank you I don't plan on doing fairs for my crafts, just having them available at campgrounds I stay at, I am going to work on being certified as RV technician. Also I am thinking of applying for jobs at camp grounds, I think that is called job hosting. With all that said three possible ways to produce income.
we are not full time travelers yet but working on getting there, most all my business is online stuff so as long as I have internet I can do some work. a lot of it is residual or royalty income as well so even if I can't work for a bit I am still earning. My other half is a Medical assistant so that can't really be done remotely. we are working on figuring out stuff she can do. And we have the Travel show on RU-vid of course too. lol
I just lot my job of 28 years and started looking into jobs I can do using my RV as a home base, if needed. Found your channel as a result. Thank you for the advice.
Great info. Saw your salt strong hat and had to say hi . I'd love to go full time but my wife would go nuts without being with the family. Plus we just have our four grandkids with us. Our camper is only 19'. Lol. We weekend camp. Good to see our fellow Floridian's thriving. See you two soon.
This is one of the most informative videos I’ve seen so far. We’ve been thinking about this, my background is mechanical and emergency services so I’ve been trying to figure out what to do. I’m an investigator for an energy company now so trying to find that replacement gig. Upwork looks awesome! Thanks
My husband really wants to live this lifestyle . I’m not quite on board! I have 3 precious grandchildren I would have a hard time leaving as well as my 2 girls. But I’m having these thoughts I’ve never had before like could this really be for me? Enjoying your channel
If you like fishing I would HIGHLY HIGHLY suggest you try the 1,000 Islands area of Upstate NY, Clayton or Alexandria Bay. Best fishing of my life. Brian from West Palm Beach.
Looking at RV transport, both wife & I are Class A CDL, one ton doing single pull, wife driving motorhome for 2nd unit delivery. Double the mileage on the front end, deadheading back is covered already.
New to your channel & so far loving it! Any job remotely or selling homemade items from RV for income is priceless! Need all ideas I can get so I can hit the RV road in 2025!! Thanks for sharing!
I have been dreaming of working from the road and seeing the United States for probably 14 years. I got very close and then had some things happen. Had to sell my motorhome. However, I am beginning my transition to remote work from a go to the office 9 to 5 it is going to take a little time but Once I get that remote full-time income, I will be looking for a small camper to pull with my pick up. The dream doesn’t die sometimes it just takes a different path. I really appreciate the information on your channel because it is exactly what I am looking for to help me learn.and Darlene I know you will prevail. Thank you guys keep it up. I am a new subscriber and I am looking forward to more videos from you.
Thank you so much I recently moved to a temporary place and now the plumbing requires huge work and time. You have been so helpful I never thought of RV inspector why not right? My plan is to travel I'm just saving for my home in wheels and will need to bring income. Blessings I'm sure the best opportunity will come your way
I travel for work in the medical field, live in my travel trailer, and I’m loving it. Thanks for the information on the mobile RV repair people, that gave me some insight on how to find someone to install my WDH. Thank you, safe travels, and remember life is a trip, enjoy the journey!!!!
Great info guys! It looks like you all are doing well with already up to 7K subscribers! Heck yeah! Since Lee is an aircraft mechanic, he has been considering taking up RV inspection as a side hustle for extra cash on the side.
Thanks! This video is very helpful and informative. I plan to retire in a few years and travel all over the country. Now you’ve given me lots of great ideas for ways to earn good money while I’m enjoying being an RV nomad like yourselves.
I'm sorry that you lost your job. That sucks! Thank you for showing us a positive attitude through your adversity. Thank you for sharing about job opportunities. I am looking too.
I've been a realtor the last 10 years, and this lifestyle is so intriguing to me as the kids get older. The biggest problem for us is what income looks like. Thank you for this video. Still looking for something remote, and looking forward to taking the leap once I find something!
I (Darlene) worked as marketing manager for a real estate marketing membership. Small world. We are actually getting ready to work on a part 2 of the digital jobs ideas. Stay tuned for more.
We use apps like iOverlander and Campendium but i also joined Facebook groups for boondocking and you can search the past posts for ideas. I like the group Boondocking for Big Rigs
Found your channel last night. Thank you so very much for sharing this video as well as sharing your expenses as it was a great help seeing where my husband and I need to be as we look into starting our RV plans and travel.
Great info and inspiration. Life is full of unknowns but that shouldn’t be a reason to not live a fulfilling life. Best of luck to you, I know you’ll do just fine. I’m completely transitioning careers from clinical laboratory management to cybersecurity and I’m just moving myself forward. Researching and learning as much as I can facing a lot of uncertainty but I know I’ll be successful.
Great video! We started full timing about the same time as you two. We start NRVTA tomorrow and consult as well. Great information on Upwork! We just started watching you and look forward to more content.
That’s awesome. We have the home repair course. I know you’ll love the NRVTA training. Thanks for the sub. We try to release new videos every Thursday.
I am a bookkeeper (ON, Canada) and have been working toward being 100% remote - was almost there, but have recently decided to drop my biggest client. Feels like a setback, but the stress of this client is just not worth it. One day, I will get there
I’m a virtual bookkeeper which allows us to live full-time RV. I have been there done that in regards to firing a client. I wish you the best and it sounds like you’re making good choices.
Depends on your business. Just gotta do your research. We’ve never had an issue but medical or insurance may require. Just depends. We’ve met so many on the road that find a way.
