In this video, I clean up and tune a classic top of the line vintage 1986 Peugeot Canyon Express and at the end compare it to its little brother, the Orient Express.

Great video! Better than Old Shovel that people go crazy for. Loved your highly organized disassembly and reassembly. The comparisons between the two models was interesting as well. I know it's a pain to put these videos together so I appreciate the great effort. Thanks for the entertainment

The comparison at the end was a nice touch. Good video. It has a Zen-like quality that is very relaxing. Other channels make me anxious for some reason.

These Peugeot look so freaking clean with all the cables routed down the down tube. I've been dabbling in bike frame design, and I'm going to have to incorporate this idea.

Two great restorations! Now that you have the Canyon, the Orient would make a great single speed commuter project.

The Orient Express is so slack I love it. 1987 manufacturing moved to Taiwan and weight dropped to 30lbs. These are great riding bikes from an exciting time. Cheers!

Thanks for this comparison... I have the same year Orient Express that I'm whipping back into shape and these videos are super-helpful. I love the rear roller cam brakes (once you get them adjusted that is) and kinda wish I had the front ones as well. I'm also trying to find a suitable "new" wheelset for mine, as mine are in pretty rough shape. I found a nice Velocity Cliffhanger set pre-built online, but not sure if the hub width will work... looking into that. Anyhow, your videos are a big help, for sure. Thanks!

Forgive my ignorance, but I wasn’t into the MTB scene in the era of these bikes. But please explain the location of the rear brakes calipers ? To my way of thinking they are down where the dirt is and can’t be beneficial to braking performance.

Mountain biking was born in California, where it's mostly dry, and they quickly learned that brakes down that low were a bad idea because of the mud buildup. That's why they were only down there for a few years in the mid 80s.

how do they feel to ride?
@DePuesshop
@DePuesshop 4 месяца назад
Very smooth with a very upright feel. There's really nothing like an older steel mountain bike. I will say that the old components are not as refinded as the new ones are today.

@@DePuesshop nice. Exactly what I'm looking for. Was there much difference between them?
@DePuesshop
@DePuesshop 4 месяца назад
@aq7705 Between the Orient and the Canyon, they felt pretty similar. One's just a little bigger than the other so that felt different.
