honestly I say the intelligent design is worth the money - this is a tank - bomb proof Baume & Mercier style watch for the every man - wind and wear no date with armor of the gods crown guards - the bracelet forces you to keep it stock - which I kind of like - 100m water resistance - I love dress watches that are sports watches in disguise. This piece came out of nowhere and has really caught me by surprise - the combined design choices are excellent.
I kinda like how they went all in on the display. I'm usuallly not a big fan of open heart displays, but somehow I can dig it here. I like how the seconds sub dial "grabs into" the open heart part. And of course a a nice structure on that "guiloche" dial (never heard it before but you learn new things everyday lol). Then again, 21mm bandwidth?! Wouldn't microbrands know better by now? And yeah, that Citizen actually feels like more value for money in the end, even though a little less pretty.
Yeah, the 21mm is a killer, it means that in order to wear this, you have to fou out and source straps SPECIFICALLY for it, rather than using a 20 or 22 you may have already. Citizen also has Titanium, so it ticks another feature in the collection for me. A shame, as I really started to like the dial on this Pompeak.
Not a bad looking watch. At that price point though it's competing with the likes of Tissot/Hamilton etc. It seems a bit steep really having regard for the points you mentioned.
A very nice watch. It's a pity the ruined the gorgeous dial with the hole in it. It destroys the aesthetic totally. What's a pity is, the open heart was unnecessary. When you already have an exhibition case back, the open heart is just overkill.
I actually didn't mind the open heart, even though I'm not normally a fan. It was the 21mm lugs that killed it for me, especially when I wasn't in love with the bracelet.
I think it is a great novelty/ticks a box for a completionist/collector. If I currently did not feel the need to buy used $50 g-shocks and not already sitting on a hoard of watches - this would be $300 well spent - for a person who already owns a similarly priced japan style diver - this watch is offering an assortment of design choices the major brands lack - like it better than the Orient Goldeneye.
It is a nice piece, but when the citizen also includes titanium...🤷♂️I reached out to the brand though, and they were actually quite happy with the feedback, felt it was fair and balanced,and offered to work with me on their future lines, so they are going about taking criticism the right way
