There's arguments for PR but the idea that PR prevents a right wing govt is not a good argument. Just look at Israel as an example. It depends, I guess, on what you mean by "right wing". But there's a lot of culturally conservative voters out there, including a chunk of Labour's vote, that would vote for a harder right party on social topics. Just look at Marine Le Pen in France. Then you add that vote to the Tory vote and you easily get a govt of a pretty right wing nature. Of course, sometimes you might get a more centre left govt too but PR does not stop a right wing govt, in fact it could lead to Nigel Farage in the govt.

When did we last have a government that was even an inch right of centre? The point isParliament should have representatives of all views not just from parties from among the elites.
