Each city in my area (Dallas-Fort Worth) requires a permit to door knock. Each city is anywhere from 20 dollars to over 150 dollars. Permit requirements dont stop me though...I just pick a city I want to focus on.
Requiring a permit to solicit is now illegal nationwide. The US Supreme Court judges that allowed anyone to come up to your door all live in gated communities with Secret Service security. The homeowner's only defense is a sign that says "no soliciting" AND actually calling the police.
