U guys wonder why Capcom keeps going back and forth from horror to action; their top 2 games are action heavy as fuck, but then you have the ORIGINAL resident evil
Lets be real. Resident Evil games stayed on top because of its action than most horror games. If they continue being like Re 1 remake it would be a market failure.
They originally started as a horror video game that’s why they keep going to horror & action , RE6 was a big letdown in the community & it was the most action you can play & it’s also the worst RE according to the community, RE7 is mainly horror & that revived the brand & brought it back to being as big as it should be , they have to find the middle ground with both to have a good game how RE8 balanced it , same with the RE4 remake it’s well balanced with horror & action
I don't think it is so much the action that's a problem but how it is executed and the story behind the game. I think Capcom began to jump the shark with 5 and 6, but 7 managed to capture that messed-up essence of being trapped and lost.
I feel like RE: Biohazard is under appreciated in the comments. Think about it, RE 7 was THE game that had revived the survival horror aspect of Resident Evil. Without RE: Biohazard we would have also never gotten the RE Engine (Reach for the moon Engine) and every Resident evil games after that would not have been like how they are today. Which in my opinion makes RE: Biohazard one of the most influental Resident Evil games to the franchise.
It really was influential. After the big let down of RE6 (which honestly wasn't super bad), Capcom really needed to step up their creativity. RE7 was a big surprise for everyone and it really skyrocketed the franchise back to its status. Not everyone liked the FPP but we can't deny the horrific atmosphere it brought and it was what we wanted from an RE game.
Exactly 🎯. You explained it perfectly. Everyone always overlooks this. The true survival horror in 7 was absolutely amazing, and the Baker House + family were some of the best antagonists RE has ever seen. Phenomenal game.
Nah it didn't do shit but sell a bad RE game to the type of people that are scared of fnaf and other indie garbage. It damages the series more than it helped. It doesn't belong, it isn't good, it was popular as a trend to people that like walking sims. Because ffs, 6 got shit on and still sold better than the only game that's like 7 which is 8. And that's because people dislike the story in 6, not because it's boring to play.

@@RaZeRbLaDeZ if you check the actual sales numbers for RE5 across all versions of the game it's still the top RE game. If you were to just count the X360, PS3 and GFWL version then my statement would be considered false.
I absolutely LOVE Code Veronica. That was my first real RE game to play back in 2000. But it pains me to look at these numbers and admit, Capcom may never make the remake simply due to the numbers. I think they'd be surprised. People would LOVE the Code Veronica Remake!! Lets get it! Please!!!!!!!!!!!

Why is this data different from capcom's own corporate unit sales figures? The highest grossing resident evil title ever is 7, which is their 3rd best selling game of all time (behind monster hunter world and rise). resident evil 2 remake is the second best selling RE, then resident evil 5, which was capcom's best selling game of all time for a decade before RE7
Also re 6 has sold 11 million as of December of 2023. Re 7 is on par with that now by Dec of 2023. Re 5 is at 14 mil by the same month. That's what the first Google results show, and it's easy to believe. 4 collectively has sold over 17 mil. So technically has 2. Not sure about the dates of these numbers for this short.

@Daman i played it was just little bit more explicit may be others opinion are different but for me 8 was the most scary in extreme difficulty ( explicit content is not horrifying to me)
I really wish that Capcom releases original tank trilogy or quadrology (1-3+CV) collection, so bad. Way they sell Mega Man collections, bundled together.

I am playing Resident Evil 4 (2005 version) right now. I beat the remake already. I just defeated Del Lago the lake monster. (This creature reminds me of Moreau from RE- Village).
The issue of sales has more to do with the time in which it was made than with the quality and storyline of the video game. I mean that the real boom of video games began in 2010 with the arrival of gameplay and digital sales, making it easier to watch and sell to everyone and all over the world. That's why crap like rs6 It has more sales than a game like rs2. That's the truth!!
Village was a great game for me. Old vampire stories, a gripping story and lots of emotional situation. I can remember that I cried slightly at Ethan's death.
Original Re2 is the best game in the series in my opinion. Personally I like every game in this series except 6, Operstion Raccon City and Umbreall Corps

NAHHH only 2.3M ppl played CV!?!? Code Veronica is HEAVILY underrated. I love that game so much I’ll go as far to say that it’s much better than the remakes and new RE’s(Biohazard & Village). I strongly recommend playing it

Nah do like iin village action mostly vut sprinkle in horror liek in the dollhouse,no items and you have to puzzle solve cause even with new game plus where you can one shot enemies and handle mini boses and bosses with ease having all your power stripped away will make you realize "oh shit im not a god"
Wow, a really underrated RE game is Revelations. Even my wife (who is not a gamer) found a lot of pleasure playing Revelations, even asking me my 3DS when we were dating. Also, she made me notice that the music is awesome, I think it's the best OST in the entire series.
I hope we can get another umbrella resident evil game like umbrella corp or raccoon city. If they added a good story and some nice horror action where you go in with an elite squad of umbrella soldiers.
