@@johnm8358 with youngsters that age the most common issue you see when sprinting is what we can a lack of knee drive, so when pushing off they don't bring their knees up before the next step enough. In order to help with that as well as the other key components of speed (strength and springiness) it's important to master the basics of movement off the pitch - so squat well, jump and land, lunge etc. And then on the pitch competitive games are a winner, so races against an opponent: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-LpQ9s6VGIYo.html And agility games like the Agility Arena: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-508fSWRNC0s.html . But for players that young as they approach the growth spurt their body will change entirely, a slow U9 can end up being a fast teenager after they've matured through the growth spurt, and vice versa! It's important not to get too fixated on it at such an early age but keep them working on it (so fun games, races, different sports too and fun obstacle courses that challenge their mobility and strength) in a way that keeps them engaged throughout. As they get older that's when real structured sessions could be introduced looking at real mechanics and technical detail. But for now it's best to focus on engagement through fun activities, with as much sprinting and fundamental movements hidden in there to get them repeatedly sprinting and changing direction regularly each week.
